A level 1 demonic beast was far too powerful for any of them to handle!

Now, all they could do was pray that Wang Zhan could make it out in one piece. Then they would retreat behind the defense line, rendezvous with the people in the camp, and brainstorm how to deal with the level 1 demonic beast.

Despite the terrifying strength of a level 1 demonic beast, it still wasn't an invincible entity. If all of them joined forces, perhaps they still had a fighting chance, considering that the nine war gods in the war zone were not pushovers.

"Uncle Qi, if it truly comes to the worst, let us retreat first. After all, the level 1 demonic beast has appeared; we can't do much even if we want to help!"

Luo Feng spoke up again, "I'm saying all this for our own good. If we continue to linger here, we will only risk additional casualties. Isn't the sacrifice of Wang Zhan for the preservation of our collective strength good enough?"

"More importantly, even if we don't leave, there's nothing we can do to assist Wang Zhan. So why increase unnecessary casualties? Shouldn't we retreat?"

Upon hearing this, Uncle Qi's face immediately darkened. He clenched his fists, almost smacking Luo Feng hard across the face. How could a person he himself had nurtured be so cowardly! After all, Wang Zhan was still out there risking his life for them, yet Luo Feng actually made such remarks?

"If you want to leave, go by yourself. I will stay right here until Brother Wang comes out. If he cannot get out, then I don't intend to leave this place either. At least he will have company in the Netherworld!" Luo Xue suddenly spoke.

Luo Feng was utterly embarrassed. He quickly grabbed Luo Xue's arm and said, "Have you gone mad? Aren't you seeing the situation we are in right now? Wanting to stay and die in vain, how could you do this to our parents?"

"And you think you're doing right by our parents?" Luo Xue retorted. "He's out there risking his life for us, yet you're here, sowing discord and trying to convince everyone to flee. Do you think everyone is as much of a coward, as afraid of death, as you are?"

Even though Luo Xue was a woman, she was valiant and could distinguish right from wrong. So at this moment, she would never abandon Wang Zhan and leave on her own.

Uncle Qi merely smiled in satisfaction. The surrounding soldiers also sneered at Luo Feng. Earlier they might have also been fearful and looking to leave the defense line quickly to return to the rear camp. But seeing Wang Zhan fighting with such fervor on the battlefield, how could they choose to flee now?

They also gradually understood a truth: if the defense line was breached, where else could they go? Even if they managed to retreat further, wouldn't they just be delaying their inevitable demise at the hands of the beasts?

For this reason, they were now ready to die. They would either live with Wang Zhan or die with him.

Luo Feng felt utterly humiliated. How could it be that the crowd, who earlier seemed ready to escape with him, were now so resolute and united, willing to stay and wait for Wang Zhan, even ready to help him break the siege?

Seeing that everyone had decided not to leave, Luo Feng naturally abandoned the thought of escaping. After all, if he left now, he wouldn't be able to face anyone in the future.

"Uncle Qi, shouldn't we step in to help? I fear Wang Zhan can't hold out much longer!" a young man abruptly spoke up. He had already raised his Ice Blade, ready for action at any moment. It's life or death anyway, so why keep cowering here?

Uncle Qi clenched his fists tightly, his gaze never leaving Wang Zhan. But he didn't see Xiang Tian make a move, which meant Wang Zhan seemed to be holding his ground for now. Considering the close relationship between Xiang Tian and Wang Zhan, and the fact that Xiang Tian would not be able to retreat from his position anyway, it was clear that Xiang Tian was not the type to fear death. So, he was waiting for Xiang Tian to make a move. Otherwise, if he himself made a rash move, it might create complications and trouble for Wang Zhan, making things even harder to resolve.

With these thoughts in mind, Uncle Qi waved his hand at the man who had spoken and said, "Rest assured, I have a handle on the situation. Everyone, prepare yourselves here. When I give the order, charge out and join Wang Zhan!"

Receiving this, everyone nodded and fell silent.

「On the battlefield」

Wang Zhan, holding the Deep Fire Blade, observed the Thunder Beast before him with cold eyes.

Fortunately, he had battled a Thunder Beast before. Although their strengths differed, their methods were largely the same. This gave him an edge; knowing himself and his enemy increased his chances of victory.

Though everyone was worried for Wang Zhan, he himself felt no fear; in fact, he was rather excited. After all, only through endless battles, by repeatedly overcoming opponents stronger than himself, could he improve his combat prowess. He had, so to speak, faced death and survived countless times already. So what if he was encountering a level 1 demonic beast now? If it came down to it, he would fight with his life on the line. At least he had Xiang Tian supporting him. And while Xiang Tian alone might not be able to eliminate all the confronting beasts or reclaim the defense line, with the two of them cooperating, even if Wang Zhan himself were seriously injured, escaping wouldn't be too difficult. Besides, weren't Uncle Qi and the others there to provide backup?

Having made all necessary preparations, Wang Zhan wasted no more time. He lifted his Deep Fire Blade and instantly became a streak of light, leading the charge against the Thunder Beast.

The Thunder Beast cast a cold glance at him, a sneer forming at the edge of its mouth. It spoke with a deep voice, "An insignificant youngster actually daring to lay a finger on me, you puny creature. Who gave you such courage?"

"What courage is needed to face a level 1 demonic beast like you? It's child's play. You're just a loser, an existence akin to an ant," Wang Zhan retorted. Even though the Thunder Beast's mockery had unsettled him, he couldn't afford to show weakness. After all, the battle hadn't truly begun. If he showed fear now, how could he even fight?

In the next moment, Wang Zhan unhesitatingly brandished his Deep Fire Blade at the Thunder Beast. The beast, showing no weakness, lifted its fist. Suddenly, an enormous Thunder Net appeared around Wang Zhan, instantly restricting his movement!

Electric snakes slithered across the Thunder Net. Though Wang Zhan hadn't touched them, he knew with certainty that contact with those electric snakes would instantly pulverize him. He absolutely couldn't let that happen!

"You can't even break my barrier, and you're trying to talk back?" The Thunder Beast looked arrogantly at Wang Zhan and began to laugh uproariously. The surrounding beasts joined in, clearly convinced that the Thunder Beast had command of the battlefield.

Of course, they were well aware that no one could break free from this Thunder Net. How could a mere Grandmaster like Wang Zhan possibly compare to a level 1 demonic beast? Perhaps Wang Zhan could deal with them easily enough, but trying to take on a level 1 demonic beast like the Thunder Beast? That was surely a joke!

Listening to the laughter, Wang Zhan just smirked. He glanced at the Deep Fire Blade in his hand.

In the next moment, he raised his Deep Fire Blade and swung it down at the electric net before him. A massive Fire Dragon materialized out of thin air, instantly clashing with the electric snakes on the net. Fire Light mingled with booming thunder, illuminating the entire Sky in an instant.

To everyone's astonishment, Wang Zhan had actually broken the Thunder Net. How could this be possible? After all, that was a level barrier set up by the Thunder Beast, a level 1 demonic beast! How could Wang Zhan, a mere Grandmaster, break through such a formidable defense?

Uncle Qi tensed up again. More than tense, he was utterly shocked. The fifth war zone truly nurtures exceptional talents! It's unimaginable that such a young man possesses such combat prowess. He glanced at his companions; there was simply no comparison.

Currently, Wang Zhan, holding the Deep Fire Blade, was steadily approaching the Thunder Beast. He beckoned the beast with his finger, his contempt unconcealed. "As I said, you're nothing more than an ant. Hurry up with your trump card. I'm too lazy to continue talking with you."

"Don't wait until I act, and you get dealt with before you've even had a chance to show what you've got. That would be too boring."

"After all, it's the first time I've met someone somewhat worth fighting. Don't disappoint me too much."

The Thunder Beast was thoroughly infuriated. Though it didn't know what means Wang Zhan had used to break its defense, how could a mere Grandmaster possibly stir up any trouble? At least, not before it! That whelp wasn't worthy!

"Since you're seeking death, don't blame me for showing no mercy!"

Having spoken, the Thunder Beast rose to its feet. It clenched its fists, holding them before its chest. A massive lightning symbol materialized behind it, as thunder rumbled and flashes of lightning exploded across the Sky.

Then, as the Thunder Beast pointed a finger, a slender bolt of lightning shot swiftly towards Wang Zhan's chest.

Its speed was unbelievably fast!

But Wang Zhan merely sneered. Glancing at the Heavenly Dragon Armor he wore, he didn't move a single step. He wanted to see just how much the Heavenly Dragon Armor had improved. The Heavenly Dragon Armor was evolvable equipment. Now that his cultivation had reached the late stage of a Grandmaster, the Heavenly Dragon Armor should have naturally strengthened considerably. Had it truly become stronger?

"You truly are courting death, daring to underestimate my lightning power!" the Thunder Beast laughed boisterously. "Fine! I'll let you experience what it means to overestimate your own abilities!"

But in the next moment, it was left dumbfounded.
