Chapter 85: Having Fun (2)

"Make this fun for me!"

The demon general picked one of the commanders, instantly reaching him as he swung the axe once more. To him, they all looked the same—weaklings who could be crushed with little effort.

He observed with a wide grin as the commander swung his sword with the intent to block his assault. Axe and sword clashed in an explosive bang, shattering the ground beneath them.

"Fuck...!"

The commander cursed as Kolga sent him flying into the distance. The demon’s eyes darted around as he noticed two more commanders close in on him. The last member—Fred—kept his distance, plunged his mana-infused sword into the ground and turned it.

In a moment, the ground beneath the demon trembled. However, that was not enough to take the demon off balance. At the same time, Eric and his colleague—Rudy—finally closed in. Eric went in for an overhead strike while his partner lunged his weapon at the demon’s lower body.

The demon could only choose one; either he blocked Eric’s overhead strike with his axe and took the sword lunge or blocked the sword lunge and took the overhead strike. He couldn’t do both... or at least that should have been the case.

"Hahaha...!" Kolga laughed at their ploy. "This is good! Unfortunately for you...!" The demon general sneered, spun his axe around and slammed the butt into the ground.

BOOM...!

A powerful purplish sphere was generated on impact, eating into the ground as it spread out like an electromagnetic pulse.

"Ah!"

Eric and Rudy took the full force of the pulse as they were sent flying. The demon ignored the two commanders and turned to Fred, his grin widening.

"You’re too weak to do anything!" Kolga spat out and bolted towards Fred. "You die first!" He appeared in a flash, his axe over his head as he swung it down.

Fred’s heart skipped a beat, his eyes widening in shock and fear. He attempted to jump out of the way but was too slow. The demon’s aura was overwhelmingly oppressive.

The axe came down with full force, cutting through the air with absolute ease.

BOOM...!

However, what should have been the exploded flesh and innards of the commander turned out to be a gigantic ice wall that came out of nowhere, shielding Fred and taking the brunt of the strike.

"You..." The demon general looked to the side.

Kolga’s first target—Oliver—had recovered enough to interfere in his strike. The demon general didn’t like that. However, there was no time to waste on glaring.

Eric and Rudy were back on their feet and didn’t waste time. In a flash of lightning, both commanders appeared beside the demon general, each on one side as they swung their swords at the demon.

Through sheer determination, they pushed through the overwhelming fear they felt from the demon’s presence. Failure to defeat this demon with their numbers would mean their kingdom was doomed.

Kolga snickered at the commanders as he spun the pole of his axe around, clashing with both weapons at the same time.

CLANG!

Both commanders grunted when their swords clashed with the demon’s axe. The vibrations from the impact shook their system to the bone, numbing the hands that wielded the swords.

CLANG!

Another clash followed right after. The two commanders ignored the numbness, pushing themselves to hold on as they exchanged multiple strikes in seconds. With each strike they dealt and received, their hands grew numb while they got pushed back.

"Hahaha...! That’s more like it!" Kolga was pleasantly enjoying the exchange. "Give me more!"

The combatants traversed the ruined terrain, their swift strikes further destroying the surroundings, leaving deep craters and tree stumps in their wake. Whenever an opening presented itself, Oliver and Fred would capitalize, sending a flurry of spells.

But the demon was a step ahead. Kolga would easily evade the jet stream of flames, ice bullets or even charge straight into them with his axe.

’The fucker isn’t using any spells!’ Eric noticed with dread. ’This could get bad...This bastard is really just having fun.’

Despite knowing this, the commanders didn’t relent in their assault. They were getting pushed back more and more while their fatigue grew.

Finally, the demon general seized an opportunity when Rudy was blown backwards in another exchange with the demon’s axe. In a flash of purple light, the demon disappeared and reappeared behind the disoriented Rudy, his axe in a wide swing.

"Bye-bye." Kolga muttered in a cold tone that sent shivers down the commander’s spine. Rudy managed to look behind him just in time to see the axe arriving at his side.

"RUDY!"

The remaining commanders shouted as they made a mad dash at the demon. They were completely taken by surprise. How were they supposed to know the demon could teleport?

Commander Fred gritted his teeth as he thrust his sword forward and a mana beam shot out. The beam cut through the air at breakneck speed, heading straight for the demon.

Eric on the other hurled a wind spell at Rudy with the intent to get him out of the weapons’ path while Oliver aimed for one of the demon’s arms. Despite the efforts they made to stop what was about to happen, they knew they couldn’t make it.

Rudy knew this was his final moments and the only thing that came to mind at that moment was the family he had back in his home duchy.

’I’m sorry...’ The commander could only mouth to himself as he accepted his fate. ’Bless my soul...’

"NO....!!!!"

The axe went through Commander Rudy with an eerie crunch, cutting through armour, flesh and bones like butter. The weapon split the commander in half, and just in time for the spells to arrive.

BOOM...!!!

Fred’s beam hit the demon straight in the waist, eliciting a groan. The force was more than enough to burn a huge mass of flesh from the demon.

Eric’s spell covered the cleaved Rudy, blowing him out of the way. But that was too late—he was already at death’s door.

Oliver’s strike on the other hand missed the full arm but managed to slice the mid-section of the demon’s forearm.

Then as quickly as this happened, the demon general teleported once more, distancing himself from the commanders. And despite the injuries it received, the grin on his face didn’t disappear.

"Hah~ That was fun..." Kolga smiled in glee. "Round two...?"
