The next day of guild battle.

It was one week till October. And also, one week till the implementation of the «Job Transfer System».

"Z-zephyr-san. Help me ooout! T-th-the high-ranking job of K-Katalina-san has disappeared!"

That day began with a cry of help from Rina.

"Give me the full details, Rina?"

I faced her with my undivided attention, taking the so-called 'contemplating' pose—a.k.a, I had my elbows on the table, my fingers interlocked.

The fluster in her voice swiftly invited attention from other members present at the guild room. And gradually, Rina narrated her situation.

"Today was the second round of job checks for anyone involved in the «Job Transfer System»."

"Indeed, that's certainly important."

I nodded in understanding.

It was the opportunity for aspirants, hoping to leave the shell of their current job, to go through their job list once again. Some may question why 'again'. Well, there were a couple of reasons. First of all—it was mainly for research.

«Unravelling the conditions of Job» was the trending research theme in this academy, no, in this whole world. To step up as a research target. This was one of the conditions to be accepted in the «Job Transfer System» as well.

To be frank, the fact that you couldn't go through a job check except once until now was one of the main barriers blocking the research progress.

It was an unbelievable system from the perspective of players. In the game, when the job's conditions were yet to be figured out, we players used to check them out once every minute often.

Then, as soon as we had spotted a new job, we would trace back the footprint until then, and find out why or what spurred that job to appear.

The broader the search range, the more it would throw research off from finding the condition. A frequent job check was a necessity, not an option.

Meanwhile, the job was like a challenge thrown at them. This world was somehow hung up on this notion, preventing the very option that would've guided them. It's no surprise research would be in stagnation.

I had come to know about this absurd situation only a while ago. They're supposed to be motivated. As much I had the urge to holler "Check it now! Check it everyday!!", this wasn't a game. Instead, I urged them to increase the frequency of job checks, and received a positive response from Chief Mistin.

Now, they only had to sort out the jobs not present during the first examination, and then narrow down the condition from there.

And then comes the second reason. It held more weight, if you ask me.

"In our class, there were three classmates—Rose-san, Frau-san, and Katalina-san—who discovered high-ranking jobs on their first check. I was in the classroom, waiting for them to come back, and learned that only Katalina-san's job had disappeared from her job list."

With downcasted eyes, and distressed expression, Rina explained.

If my memory serves right, I met Katalina-san during summer vacation. She was with Rina then. And during inter-class competition, she was the box magic user that had worked to prevent our advances. She was a talented girl.

I could imagine what might have happened. —This is a probability the job may not appear in the list in a later check, even if it had been in first. And the higher the rarity of the job, the easier for this probability to activate.

There were occasionally reports of such a situation in this world.

People were encouraged to take their time before making a decision which job to choose. Their decision would pave their life after all. It didn't change even if the said job was some high-ranking one. So, they would take their time, and finally make their decision. That's around when such situations were observed.

It had yet to be discovered what caused this strange and mysterious phenomenon. The job would appear at one occasion, then disappear, and then may re-appear. The researchers had deemed it impossible to comprehend, having no lead. And that's what brought Rina to rely on me.

Once she had narrated the entire situation, Rina rested one of her hands atop her chest, and stared straight at me.

"I can only rely on you now, Zephyr-san. Please, is there any way to bring back the lost job?"

Well, it was a request from one of the treasured guild members. There was nothing to discuss.

"You have my words, Rina. I will make sure Katalina-san gets back her job!" 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"! Zephyr-san!"

I announced it, striking the 'you got me' pose, pointing the thumb at my heart. Hehe, it might sound like tooting my horn, but I might have come out cool.

Rina covered her mouth with her hand, and looked at me with a moist gaze.

"He's his useful self, eh."

"It seems like a prelude to another ruckus. Maybe I should follow him to make sure?"

"The person in trouble appears to be Rina-dono's friend. They must be a girl."

"Hmm. Eden still has one spot left, right? Wait, Arc-Arcadia also has 8 spots left. Somehow, I have a feeling the spots might already be covered before a second mass interview. Yeah, we probably need to keep an eye on him."

I heard members stirring up at my words. Sierra, Lana, Ester, and Misato in particular were whispering something between themselves. What might be the case?

"Wait a minute, we're going to visit Class-51, right? The Count I had mentioned earlier is also in that class."

"Hmm?"

Misato's words jogged my memory.

Right, I had requested Misato and Mert to recruit the Count in question. Mert himself was a son of a count, so I put him in charge in case they turn out to be acquaintances. It was the first time I heard they belonged to Class-51.

Mhm, the current situation was a perfect excuse for me to visit them. I confirmed the details with Rina.

"Rina, how many of your classmates are looking for a job transfer? Better yet, how many of them should still be in the classroom?"

Rina had a quizzical expression when I inquired.

Today was Wednesday of Dungeon Week. It was supposed to be a break for students from the classes, but as they're also to help out in research, the students who had applied for job transfer were still commuting to school buildings. I asked to confirm if the people in question were still present or not.

"Y-yes. Their work with researchers is still ongoing, and I think they should be in the class for the entire morning."

"Great, then we're visiting them now! It's about time we recruit new blood, too! Come with me, Misato, Mert."

"......Yes?"

Rina tilted her head with a vacant look when she heard me.
