Chapter 100: Genetic Repair (3)

Noticing their confused expression, Caleb quickly regained his composure, casting a silent glance at the queen before continuing.

The queen looked away, unable to look at Caleb despite the small joke he made to dispel the tense atmosphere.

"As I was saying..." Caleb got back to the hologram. "Her condition is as a result of mutations. The letters are supposed to be in a certain order based on what she inherited from her parents.

"However, the letters were put in the wrong order based on random or specific events. I won’t go into the details, but all I have to do is use a template to correct her mutations."

"Template?" Osbourne echoed with raised brows.

"Yes, template." Caleb nodded. "That means I’ll have to use all three of your genetic profiles to help correct hers."

"Oh..." Osbourne got the gist of the situation. "And that’s it?"

"Yes. That’s it."

"..."

"Isn’t there anything like side effects or something?" Celistra asked. All this sounded too good to be true.

"No, there’s not." Caleb replied. "While there’s more to the process than I just explained, there won’t be any effects down the line."

He had played with the system long enough to know this. Also, the system would always run a simulation to make sure things turned out right.

Anastasia and Osbourne exchanged glances, and seeing the light of hope in each other’s eyes, they realized this was actually happening.

"How are you going to do this?" Osbourne asked with a gulp. "Is there something you will need for the process?"

"Nah..." Caleb shook his head with a gentle smile. "My mana will take care of everything. I’ll just have to make contact with the person to apply the changes."

He actually didn’t have to make contact. However, Caleb wanted to see how willing they were to allow a stranger make contact with their loved one without actually having proof he was doing what he said he would.

"..."

Several seconds passed and the silence only grew. Osbourne had already made his decision and turned to look at his mother. This was their only option.

There was no one else to consider, and from what Caleb had shown, he demonstrated his understanding of the underlying issue with nothing but his eyes.

Queen Anastasia knew all this as well, but she still needed a bit of time to make up her mind. She turned to look at her daughter’s innocent expression and clenched her fist.

’I can’t allow her to live like this anymore. Not when the opportunity is right in front of us. If he wanted to harm us, he would have done it already.’ She wasn’t blind to Caleb’s mysterious presence and purity of mana.

The man was an enigma through and through, but she was her only choice – there was no other.

Anastasia turned to face Caleb, her expression hardened and determination burning in her eyes.

"Please help them." The queen firmly requested. "I’ll make sure to compensate you for your troubles."

"Sure..." Caleb nodded.

He already got his reward waiting, but there was no reason to refuse the kind gesture. Also, it would mean the Royals wouldn’t owe him anything, and he preferred it that way.

"Please guide the princess to the bed as well." He instructed. "I’ll reverse her mutations once I’m done the king."

Osbourne nodded and moved towards his little sister, kneeling before her. The princess heard and knew what was about to happen, making her anxious and excited.

"Are you willing to give it a try?" Osbourne asked in a gentle tone, receiving a firm nod in reply. "Hehe, of course." The prince took her hand and guided her to lie by her father’s side.

The prince was about to step back when he noticed Celine holding his hand tightly.

"S-stay close, okay?" Celine requested in a shaky voice. Her emotions were running wild and she had no idea where to direct them.

"Of course," Osbourne agreed and sat by her side. "We’re ready..." He looked at Caleb and gave a curt nod.

"Mm."

Caleb nodded and stepped forward while the mana hologram slowly dissipated. The queen stepped aside as she and Celistra quietly watched Caleb come to stand beside the king’s bedside.

Queen Anastasia and Celistra moved to stand at the foot of the bed, their hearts racing with anxiety. This was what the Goddess herself showed the priestess in the divination.

What she and everyone present had seen were things not known anywhere in the world, or at least on this continent.

Then the level of understanding Caleb showed in his presentation made them understand that this was not something new.

It got them wondering where Caleb came from and where he gained that kind of knowledge. But for now, they would bear witness to something divine.

Despite the king’s unconscious state, Caleb could see the pain he was in. King Gray’s brows would furrow from time to time, showing how much pain he was experiencing.

’There are still traces of whatever caused the damage lingering in his system.’ Caleb noted. ’It will be easy clearing it out. But there is the foreign signature in his system as well.’

He wondered if clearing the traces would also clear out the foreign signature. While it wasn’t really an issue, the problem was that the king would still refine monster cores to continue growing stronger.

That would render the purification pointless and Caleb wouldn’t be around to be regularly cleansing the cores the king would refine in the future.

’G-system, would removing the foreign signature make a difference?’ He wanted to be sure.

[Negative.]

It was as he expected. However, the response didn’t end there.

[However, it is possible to leave a trace of purifying energy within his body.]

’Oh, there’s something like that as well.’ The prompt made him sigh in relief. ’Let’s do that then...’

"I’ll start now."

Caleb lowered his right hand towards the king’s forehead as a warm light began gathering in his palm – for the purposes of putting on a show, of course.

Under the nervous hearts of everyone watching, Caleb touched the king’s forehead and the warm light spread around his head, slowly covering his entire body.

’Initiate repairs...’

[Confirmed]
