Game World's Awakening-Chapter 138: An amazing offer, hard to refuse
Chapter 138: An amazing offer, hard to refuse
For a minute, Anna didn’t know how to respond.
No, she couldn’t really understand.
She seemed to be in a complete daze, trying to process the information she had just been given.
She thought she had misheard. She thought he was playing a joke on her.
Maybe she was dreaming?
Many things went through her mind in a moment.
Until...
"Do you have enough points to reach Master Rank!?" In shock, she grabbed him by the shoulders in one swift movement.
Elliot nodded.
"Yes."
A simple answer.
But it was like a bolt of lightning that struck Anna’s head.
She couldn’t believe it, but seeing him so serious, she felt she had to.
Still...
"...What stats can you get up to that point?" She asked.
After quickly confirming it in the system, he answered truthfully, "I can raise strength and would have plenty of points left over. Resistance would be the same, and agility though I’d have a few left over."
She stared at him for more than 5 minutes, until she returned to her post. She was stunned.
She remembered Elliot’s strength at the beginning, before the four weeks.
Wasn’t his strength 46 or 47? His resistance wasn’t very high either; maybe it was under 40.
How could it be possible that he now had enough to raise three stats above 60? What kind of monster was she training?
What kind of otherworldly being was she dealing with right now?
"You... how many points do you have available right now? In total." She asked, suspiciously.
"126, split almost evenly between the four of them." He replied.
Her body leaned back, and she leaned back in the chair where she was.
’Impossible. He created over 100 points in such a short time?’ She looked at Elliot once more.
She stood up and started pacing around the room.
Then...
"Do you want to go to the Guild Headquarters right now?" she asked suddenly.
"Huh?" He felt confused.
"You can take Jenna with you. I’ll give you the best contract you can ask for, no matter the price. I’ll talk to the King personally. We’ll train you behind closed doors to participate in the Continental Tournament." She said suddenly.
Still confused, Elliot had a hard time processing what she was proposing, but when it dawned on him, his heart pounded incredibly.
It was a golden opportunity.
The Runic Kingdom was famous for having one of the Tokens that allowed them to go to the World Championship without qualifying through Leveled, Regional, and National Leagues.
They only had to play one Tournament before: The Continental Tournament.
Although they participated in all those small tournaments, it was more to earn a lot of money. They did it with different groups to train them, too, but they could skip them if they wanted to.
Because they have a free pass to the Continental Tournament, the most challenging tournament played within a Continent. Winning one of them would put you on top of the world. Not only would you have fame in this continent, but the other continents would also respect you.
No one could refuse if someone were told that they would be trained to participate in that Tournament.
But there was a problem.
Those trainings take years. The shorter ones can take 4 years. The longer ones might take 8, 16, or even 24 years because that tournament has no age limit.
Was he willing to go through that?
’It would be many years of just training... I don’t know what would happen at that time with the Clarks. What if when I come back, they don’t exist anymore? How could I get revenge?’
He frowned.
Another problem is that he would have to stay hidden all that time. He wouldn’t be able to go on adventures outside the guild’s territory and would hardly find his father, should he be alive.
As tempting as that sounded, with every step he took in his empowerment, he longed for his revenge more. He knew what he had suffered. He knew how much his heart yearned for revenge every night.
In the last few years, how many nights didn’t he fantasize about coming to that Clark House, which once belonged to him, and killing those bastards?
He created useless stories in his head, where he would take revenge.
But now he had the chance to do it. It’s not a fantasy. And he wanted to do it as fast as possible.
’...But I can’t just turn down an opportunity like this.’ He thought.
Doing it fast didn’t mean doing it right; that was also something to remember. And he knew his talent better than anyone else.
Perhaps his training behind closed doors would be the shortest in that respect. Maybe he could have participated in the next World Championship if he had gone there. His talent would allow it.
Besides, she was offering him something no other guild would offer him. Perhaps others would seek to kill him, but they were looking for him to become the next guild anchor.
They were taking a high risk for him.
It was a difficult decision that he had to consider carefully. Because of that, he looked at Anna.
"Can you give me time to think about it?" He asked, carefully. And before she could get confused, he spoke again. "I want to go. Although I have been in the guild for a very short time, from the very beginning, you guys have shown me that I can fully trust you. That’s why I want to go and have the joy of representing you in the future. But..." He lowered his head slightly.
Before he could continue speaking, Anna patted him on the shoulder.
"I understand. Think about it, but remember that we don’t have much time. This kind of training starts after the end of the World Championships to see if it is possible that in four years, they can represent us. We are already one year late. Because it’s you, I’ll give you time until January." She smiled.
"Thank you, Miss Anna. I’ll talk this over with Jenna to ask her thoughts."
"I appreciate that." Anna smiled.
She too fantasized for a moment.
If he gained over 100 stat points in one month of intense training, how much would three years of intense training get him?
She seemed to find herself flying in the clouds, thinking that at the next World Championship, it would be said loudly: The Runic Kingdom won the Championship. Elliot Clark, MVP of the Championship.
They are crowned the World Champions!
How beautiful it would be... What a glorious day...
So her mood rose dramatically, and she sat back down.
She immediately began to explain everything she could to Elliot. She spared nothing.
She even searched through her most hidden memories to find out if there was anything she was missing.
And when all was said and done, Elliot knew what to do.
’So there’s power limitation with respect to my abilities capacity, huh. Good.’ He smiled and looked at his system.
He didn’t hesitate to increase the strength by 14 stat points, increasing it to 60.
Even though he had 19 points left, he couldn’t increase any more. He was limited until he completed the God’s Trial.
He quickly increased his agility to a fair 59, spending 22 points; he had 4 left.
Then increased his Sense to 50, spending 25 points and being left with 8.
He then looked at Anna and placed his hand on the device in front of him, which revealed an approximate strength.
’Between 55 and 60 on average... amazing.’ Anna nodded quickly, cheerfully.
"I will go to complete God’s Trial. I hope you can protect me in this time, Miss Anna." He spoke.
"Take all the time you want. I will protect you from any idiots who come near." She replied.
Elliot then increased his resistance to 60 points...
Suddenly, his vision went dark.
Everything before him changed to a terrifying darkness, before he materialized into a different world.
’The open air?’ He thought, noticing the trees swaying in the wind and the stars in the sky.
But just then...

Then, all his invocations went out without him calling for them. So did his energy, which seemed to materialize in the world.
But the messages from the System did not stop.

[Revealing information about the city...]
Elliot had to read every message, and when he finally saw his Mission, the System sent him a big message full of information about the city he was to destroy.
This was a city of crazy and insane people. They had destroyed and bizarre morals.
All the information he saw about this Depraved City was enough to understand why the System wanted it destroyed.
The City was right below him, and it was pretty large.
He didn’t know how he was going to destroy it, and it felt so big. But that was his mission.
And it made sense; he had agreed to destroy it if that was how they behaved.
Now, his summons looked at him strangely, so he looked back at them. Their faces were a bit... expressive?
’Do they have something to tell me?’ he thought, confused.
Then, something strange happened.
Their summonings seemed to notice his attention and become excited. They all then looked at the Soul Mage, and he felt somewhat pressured by them.
He then crouched down and seemed to write something on the ground, which completely surprised Elliot.
’What the hell? Do they have the ability to communicate?’ Though his thought seemed to affect the summonings, he realized it was something like a message to him as he moved closer to see what they were doing.
’Master... trust us?’
