Game World's Awakening-Chapter 137: Back to the city
Chapter 137: Back to the city
After returning to the foot of the mountain, they walked back as a large mountain was set ablaze behind them.
Because it was nighttime, the mountain attracted a lot of attention as it was lit up, but luckily, not many people were passing by. The road was utterly alone, and only the two were crossing it.
A while later, after returning to the area where Anna and the others were waiting for him, they went straight to tell Anna what had happened.
They erected a small tent temporarily, and Steward, the one who had been training Jenna and Anna, was present.
"Their elimination was total." Elliot said, beginning his report. "But a person not described in the scroll escaped after killing my strongest summoning in one move. Even weak Masters couldn’t do that, so someone powerful could have been there."
Anna frowned.
’Such a quick elimination, did they use some special strategy?’ she thought.
Maybe it wasn’t. She had simply overestimated the intelligence of those guys, like to go out front when they have the positioning advantage.
But that may not have been the case either. After leaving there, Elliot concluded that the man or woman who fled must have helped them.
If they confidently left the Mansion, even though most of their traps were in its corridors, they relied on that person’s strength.
But he didn’t show up, so they ended up dead very easily after leaving the place where they had all the advantage.
But Anna nodded and did not question them; she could draw her own conclusions.
"I felt a certain presence earlier; it seemed like someone powerful from some strange race. I thought it was a beast." Anna replied. "You say it killed your most powerful summoning with a single blow?"
"Yes. It was split in half."
"Okay. I’ll find out about it later, " she said and walked over to Elliot. For the time being, let’s go back to the city. Training is over, but there’s still something else we need to talk about and see."
"I understand, Miss Anna." Elliot replied and tossed Jeff’s unconscious, wounded, and bleeding body to Steward. "Mr. Steward, can you lock him in a secret room that he can’t escape from? I’ll be using him for my plans these next few months. He’ll be very useful to us."
Steward grabbed the half-dead body and nodded. "We must cure him so he’ll survive. At this rate, he’ll be dead in a few days, if left like this."
"Okay, you can cure him, but don’t let him escape. He has important information for me."
"Good."
Elliot then looked at Jenna and smiled. "Thank you, " he said as hhe felt her grip on his hand.
She had been worried about him for a while now, but she knew the mission was important—even more important to them, given everything Elliot found out.
Because of that, she didn’t want to let go of him. Knowing they had to be separated for some time again, she leaned close to his ear and whispered to him:
"...It’s not much, but I can be your family now. I don’t know how life will be from now on. I also don’t know if we will fight or disagree at some point, because we hardly know each other, but I want to accompany you right now."
"Maybe the road will be difficult. Maybe your family doesn’t love you. But I do love you and will make your road easier and more bearable." After saying that, she felt embarrassed, so she quickly walked away from him and went to where the person training her was.
They were her parting words before she left.
Words that left Elliot stunned, but caressed his heart.
Anna looked at them from the side with a poker face. After seeing Jenna leave in embarrassment, she made a hollow face, shook her head, and took Elliot the other way back to the city.
This left Steward alone there, watching as they both went their separate ways, even though they were going to the same place.
’Sigh. Young people.’ He thought, with a quiet smile. He grabbed the near-corpse and took it into the city to keep it from becoming a real corpse.

Inside the City.
Anna took Elliot to the same place where he had been resting all these days.
"It’s been four weeks of training. The truth is that the training ended yesterday. Today’s was just to see how much you’ve understood about strength and so on, even though you haven’t raised your stats, " she said and sighed, with a helpless smile.
"But it looks like it wasn’t a mission up to par for you two. The speed with which you were done even surprised me."
Elliot smiled, "Thank you, Miss Anna. Although it’s almost subconscious, I’ve improved greatly in all my stats. Not only because I’ve seen them grow, but I seem to be able to use them much better now." He remembered how easily he managed to sneak past the traps outside the mansion.
Also, he was not overly powerful, but his strength was enough to beat a few with more stat points than he had in Strength with frightening ease.
Though he didn’t notice it at the time, all of this was due to the training he had received these past four weeks.
"I’m glad you understand, " She said. "You’re free to raise your stats right now. I want to see your improvement, " she said, pulling out a device from her inventory to measure Elliot’s new strength.
She had high hopes for him. She knew how talented he was because she had seen him a lot lately, but was he just as talented at earning stat points? How far had he come?
Elliot finally felt his pulse quicken. The moment he had been waiting for the most came.
Speaking of stat points, he’d had a ridiculous increase over the past four weeks.
He still retained the 26 points from last time, so, for the first time, he could see stat points exceeding 100 available.
[Stats]
| Strength: 46.
| Vitality (Resistance): 39.
| Agility: 37.
| Sense: 25.
[Remaining 126: 33 in strength. 34 in Resistance. 26 in Agility. 33 in Sense].
Seeing those many points, he couldn’t help but fantasize that they were all in Strength. He would reach such an astonishing strength that surely the System would limit it to 99, for not being able to ascend to more than 60 the rest.
He could kill Alexander easily then, although he would have to be careful when he took a hit.
But it was just a fantasy, far removed from reality.
The reality was that he already had enough to send three stats over 60 points, and Sense would come very close to achieving that.
It was because of this that he first looked at Anna.
"Miss Anna, could you give me some information about the God’s Trial? As much as you can and know."
"Hm? Do you plan to start preparing for when you have to pass it?"
"Yes."
"You don’t have to do that, do you? You have your invocations. Because of that, there’s not too much you can do with your ability. If I had to give you any advice, it’s that when you go to pass it, you should get your stats as close as you can to the 60-point level. You never know what’s on the other side, so you must prepare well."
Elliot nodded, but his mouth still insisted, "There are many preparations I must make, Miss Anna. Knowing as much as possible about that test will save my life."
Anna frowned at his insistence. She couldn’t understand why he was insisting on that. You hardly ever have anything to do but prepare yourself physically for it.
After all, can you strengthen your ability or the fruit of it?
But she decided then to tell him.
"The God’s Trial... It’s something that tests your ability with your skill. That is, the ability to use it, sometimes its potency, and the ability to carry it and throw it."
"Its main peculiarity is that you can’t use your strength there, but you must increase it to the maximum you can, because the system is unpredictable. There is data showing that people with Strength and Resistance as main statistics have a higher probability of surviving and passing it. It’s a test that can seriously threaten your life, so you should be careful." freewebnσvel.cѳm
She paused to think for several minutes before shaking her head. "There’s not a lot of information you don’t know. When you pass it on, you’ll possibly focus on summoning your summons, and they’ll put you through tests with them."
Elliot nodded and, after confirming that she wouldn’t talk about it anymore, he decided to look at his stats.
’Should I raise my summoning stats too?’ he thought.
The problem was that the time was near when the Leveled Leagues would start. For that, he would need new invocations if he wanted to participate. In strength, even with his incredible increase, he was possibly at the bottom of the participants in the Leveled Leagues.
He needed strength and new invocations to help him win.
But he had to look once again at Anna. He plucked up his courage and decided to ask her something important.
"Miss Anna, the truth is that I have enough points to move to Master Rank. But that will trigger the God’s Trial, so I want to ask you, how strong are those trials?"
