Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot-Chapter 431 - 430: Illegitimate Daughter
Phoebe Walker’s mind was blank. She didn’t know how to face Maxwell Peary, nor what she was supposed to do.
"I... I just hope to successfully inherit the Walker Family’s wealth."
Liam Walker was still in the hospital, unconscious the entire time.
He had just been moved from the Intensive Care Unit to a regular ward yesterday, yet a sudden decline in his vital signs had him on the brink of death multiple times during the night.
After barely surviving, he was now back in the Intensive Care Unit, under constant observation.
The doctor had spoken with her earlier, telling her how dire Liam’s situation was. He might pass away at any time...
"The family wealth?"
Maxwell Peary raised an eyebrow. So, she hadn’t figured out what to do yet.
"Yes. I’m not sure if you’re aware, Young Master Peary, but the current Head Secretary of MC, Sophia Moore, is my father’s illegitimate daughter."
In the past, Sophia and Phoebe lived together, but as time went on, Phoebe began to hate Sophia more and more. Because of her, everything—their parents’ love, their household belongings—had to be shared with her. Phoebe eventually acted out and raised hell until her father sent Sophia away.
She didn’t expect that after all these years of peace, Sophia would suddenly reappear when Liam Walker ran into trouble.
Liam didn’t leave a will, nor had he distributed his wealth. Thus, if Sophia’s identity as his biological daughter were to be publicly revealed, she would likely take half of the Walker Family’s wealth.
This was something Phoebe could not tolerate.
After a period of anxiety, she decided to seek Maxwell Peary’s help. As long as she found powerful backing, the Walker Family would be hers.
"Illegitimate daughter?"
Maxwell Peary genuinely had no knowledge of this matter. Just as he was preparing to further negotiate with her, the doorbell suddenly rang.
"Huh, who could it be?"
Phoebe Walker frowned, puzzled. Barefoot, she walked across the soft, plush carpet to open the door.
Charles Northwood hesitated for a moment outside. In the end, he decided to see for himself.
Even if Nia didn’t believe him, he was her best friend and couldn’t ignore this matter.
So, he had steeled himself to ring the doorbell.
"Who are you looking for?"
She opened the door with a frown, eyeing the stranger at the entrance.
In just a moment, Phoebe’s irritation faded away, and she looked somewhat entranced.
What a handsome man!
Compared to Maxwell Peary’s cold and gloomy demeanor, the man before her, dressed in white, was much more gentle and cultured.
He was like a gentle breeze in March, cleansing the depths of one’s heart, sweeping over one’s soul in waves.
"Where’s Maxwell Peary?"
Charles Northwood frowned, feeling a strong aversion as he noticed Phoebe staring fixedly at him.
With an expression of disgust and without a word, he pushed the door wide open and walked in.
"So, you couldn’t resist coming in."
Maxwell Peary sat on the sofa, his left leg crossed over his right.
When Maxwell had made a U-turn on the road earlier, he had noticed someone trailing him. He’d thought he had lost his pursuer, though.
"I just gave Nia a call."
Without bothering with small talk, Charles Northwood went straight to the point.
Hearing Nia’s name, Maxwell reined in the aura he was emitting and uncrossed his legs.
"What did you say to her?"
That little Rabina, she was perfect in every way, save for one incredibly annoying aspect.
She liked to keep everything to herself, neither speaking nor asking about things, and then she’d end up cornering herself.
