Finding my Parents in Another World-Chapter 51: (Raorka) Beast of the Land
Raorka’s body was covered with a blue coat, along with a blue cape draping over his back. In his right hand there was a sword, a metallic sword but one in which he could feel the flow of water, it’s rhythm. Experimenting with it, he twirled the sword and as if on command, a surge of water rose up and followed the movements of the sword. As Raorka noticed carefully, the water was a razor focused stream, mimicking even the shape of the sword.
As well as it’s sharpness.
"My, my." The Demon of Lust said. She was resting on her long tail, looking at him with mock surprise.
"WHERE. IS. ROKAR?" Raorka roared, thrusting his sword towards the Demon. A column of water rose up and flew towards her, perfectly in sync with his blade.
Still smiling, the Demon simply rotated over her tail to send the blade of water harmlessly sailing past her and then started forward, intending to grab the sword itself. Realizing her intention, Raorka piroutted out of her grab and then slashed at her exposed back, again creating a column of water mimicking that movement.
The Demon shielded herself with her wings, which formed a protective shell around her. The sword bounced off harmlessly against the shell. In fact, Raorka put so much force in his slash that he was almost thrown back when the sword struck the shell.
Stumbling back, Raorka looked back at the Demon, murder in his eyes.
"Ooh, I am so scared of the little birdie." The Demon of Lust said, slowly standing up and winking mischievously at him.
"If you won’t tell me where he is then I’ll just have to kill you." Raorka said, a steely determination rising up from within him. He raised his sword above his head, and multiple water droplets coagulated around it. With a quick movement, he brought his sword straight down, and the water droplets shot out like bullets towards the Demon.
The Demon of Lust smiled. She didn’t move, standing nonchalantly as the water droplets sailed harmlessly past her.
"You know, overthinking is the enemy of humans in battle. You expected me to dodge, therefore you sent not a single one of those droplets straight at me. But when that happens, the easiest thing for me to do is just stand still."
Raorka grunted. The Demon was right of course. He had expected her to dodge, therefore he thought he was being clever by intentionally sending the droplets where he thought she would dodge to.
"I have been alive in this world boy, for a long long time. You can’t fool me that easily." The Demon said, and stepped forward.
Instinctively Raorka stepped back, anticipating some form of attack. The Demon grinned and then jumped towards him.
Her movement was like a blur. She was moving so fast that Raorka couldn’t even identify what she was attacking with. Completely through instinct he blocked and parried her first few strikes, delivered like a tornado. Even when not attacking, the Demon of Lust was a blur, moving between walls and pillars constantly, using the hard surface of those to seemingly bounce between locations. In fact her movement was so fast that Raorka could barely keep track of the blur as it moved from a window to a pillar to a wall back to a window and then suddenly rocketed towards him. He could only catch glimpses of the Demon’s face, wide in enjoyment of the hunt as she repeated her relentless assault. Raorka, on the other hand, was pushed back almost entirely and was forced to put all his strength and concentration on defense.
Just one chink. Just one chink in the armor and I can counterattack.
There was none however. The Demon attacked for barely a second before moving away, sometimes almost before Raorka had raised his sword to block. And besides there were a myriad of fakes. The Demon would swoop in towards him, causing Raorka to raise his sword, but at the last moment the Demon would change direction, bounce off a pillar and stretch her raking claws towards his exposed neck. Only Raorka’s almost superhuman intuition saved his life, making him duck just as the claws passed inches above his own head.
Raorka took a deep breathe. His thoughts, his mind were too muddled with rage, he needed to calm down. As the Demon whizzed about the hall, Raorka stood silently, almost meditatively. He imagined his body as water. Flowing, ever changing, never static. Unable to be caught. A Beast of the Land.
This time Raorka predicted the Demon’s claws. Sidestepping, he slashed towards the Demon in a single movement. There was no unnecessary movements from Raorka, it was almost as if he knew where the Demon would strike and repositioned himself to have the best possible counter attack window.
With a snarl the Demon blocked his sword with her wings, but this time she didn’t go back to her whizzing routine. Instead she stood in front of him, looking at him with a curious look on her face.
"That wasn’t nice boy." She said slowly moving backwards.
Raorka stayed silent. His mind was quiet, unperturbed, calm and serene. He had to concentrate to keep his rage from bubbling over. In this fight, concentration was key not passion. And responding to the Demon would be akin to giving in to his passion.
Instead he raised his sword, and kept it straight up in front of him. He didn’t move, waiting for the Demon to instigate. There was a look of surprise on the Demon of Lust’s face before it became serious.
She extended both her hands sideways. As Raorka quietly watched, her muscles bulged until both her arms resembled those of a monster than a human. Then at the end of her palm, two balls of pure energy slowly materialized. The power of those dark purple globes radiated intensely, and Raorka knew instinctively that if he were hit by even one of those, it would mean the end of his life in this world.
Raorka tensed, the muscles in his calf and shoulders getting ready for the sudden load to be put on them.
Silence. Raorka and the Demon stood facing each other, neither making the first move. A standoff where the first to blink would lose their life. The two participants were not equal however.
The Demon of Lust had the upper hand by far. She smiled, still seductive and then threw the energy balls on her hand as if she were pitching in baseball.
Raorka saw her arm move back and moved in that instant, ducking down while running towards the Demon. The Demon was fast though, inhumanely so. No sooner had Raorka moved a single step towards her than she completed the throwing arc with her arm and the energy globe on her right hand shot out, fast as a bullet towards him. Since Raorka had ducked anticipatorily, the first ball sailed over him. But the second globe was an instant behind it. Impossibly the Demon had also completed throwing the second energy globe all while Raorka was busy ducking under the first.
There was no time. The second globe was right in Raorka’s face. He couldn’t dodge it. Grunting, Raorka brought back the sword in front of him, and blocked the energy instead. As soon as the purple ball made contact with the sword, there was an immense force pushing him back. Raorka felt as if he were trying to push back the ocean itself with his sword. Roaring out in pain, he was pushed back relentlessly. He broke through pillars, as he tried to get some leverage with his feet, to push back against the immense energy concentrated in that ball. Behind him he heard a huge explosion, and he realized that was the first energy ball making contact with the wall of the mansion and blowing it to pieces.
It didn’t sound too far behind.
"AAAARRGHHH!" Raorka shouted, trying to channel his energy into pushing back the second ball. He dug his feet in, felt the stone in the castle floor tearing and being destroyed as he was pushed back, felt the skin on the back of his feet tear painfully. Yet the ball of energy kept pushing back relentlessly.
I can’t.....
This is too strong...
I can’t block it!
The force of the ball striking his sword had created some sort of whirlwind around him due to the clash of energies. Straining his eyes, Raorka could see the Demon of Lust leaning against one of the pillars, watching him struggle with an amused look on her face. She could have killed him anytime. It would be extremely easy for her to do so now when he was already being pushed back by her energy ball. Yet she didn’t. She was playing with her food, enjoying the struggle of puny humans against her all powerful magik.
Something about that thought engaged Raorka again. He was already at his tipping point from his encounter with Rokar earlier, but now this disregard, this underestimation, this superior attitude by the Demon rubbed him off the wrong way.
If she thinks we are just ants because of the power difference between us, then I will show her.
I’ll show her the pain of an ant bite.
With a defiant shout, Raorka decided to change his strategy. He couldn’t stop the energy ball. It was too strong, and he wasn’t proficient with his Inito yet. So what if....
What if he redirected it instead? Use the Demon’s own strength against her. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Fixating on this plan, Raorka started changing his direction. He was still being pushed back, but now he began to aid that movement instead of fighting against it. At the same time he started shuffling his feet to the side so that the push of the ball was not straight back but rather in a bent line. And then he shuffled further until he was almost face up against the wall of the mansion.
And then he turned.
Raorka didn’t know what would happen when he turned so that he was facing the same direction as the ball. He half thought the ball would continue in its original direction. But he hadn’t underestimated the Demon, the ball had enemy tracking enabled. As he turned, the ball turned with him, now facing the opposite direction.
He could hear the Demon of Lust laugh, now behind him.
"It’s not so easy to escape my globes, darling." She cooed from behind.
I don’t intend on escaping them.
Now the ball was reversed, and now Raorka began running backwards instead, towards the direction where the ball was pushing him instead of against. The energy ball seemed to gain speed with this and began pushing harder, again causing Raorka to burst through more pillars, feeling his back break through stone and wincing at the pain.
Just a little more
Turning his head back, he saw the Demon still busy laughing to realized what was going on. To realized that her own energy ball was now hurtling straight towards her.
By the time the Demon of Lust realized what was going on it was too late for her to do anything. She cursed in some language Raorka couldn’t decipher and tried dodging to the side.
It wasn’t enough though. Raorka turned around at the last moment and caught her tail, pulling her back towards him.
And the energy ball behind.
"You can’t kill me like this boy, let me-" the Demon’s words stayed incomplete. Raorka let go of his sword and the energy ball made direct contact with both of them, resulting in a huge explosion.
In a second the castle of the Mayor began to collapse.
