Chapter 26 - So Overbearing?

In his nearly thirty years of life, this was the first time Professor Tang realized what it felt like to be hit by a deer in the middle of the road…no, he must have opened up a crazy animal zoo in his heart.

The surprise fell from the sky and struck him into a stunned silence. He only suddenly woke up when Sun Zinan walked in front of him and gave him a casual finger-gun. He grabbed at Sun Zinan’s hand out of conditioned reflex.

“What are you doing?” Sun Zinan smiled and said in a hoarse voice, “We’re in public, your colleagues are watching.”

“You…” Even Tang Kai’s ever-bright mind had finally met a day in which it couldn’t run anymore. He asked in disbelief, “How come you’re here?”

“My partner has run away from home, so I obviously have to come find him myself.”

Sun Zinan’s eyes bent into crescents as he smiled. He raised his hand and organized his shirt collar and tie. “Do you still have other activities tonight? Hurry up and go.”

Tang Kai, “I…”

“I’m staying in 1202,” Sun Zinan said. “I won’t be going anywhere tonight. You can knock on my door at any time.”

Tang Kai’s Adam’s apple bobbed up and down. His gaze was burning hot. The overloaded CPU had finally returned to normal operation. He grabbed Sun Zinan’s shoulder and said in a strong voice, “You stand here, don’t move. Wait a minute for me.”

Not waiting for Sun Zinan to answer, he called to another professor passing by, walked over, and said a few words to him. After obtaining the other side’s promise, he immediately rushed back to hold Sun Zinan’s hand and couldn’t help pulling him over to the elevator.

Ai…be gentle.” Sun Zinan was dragged by him until he was staggering. “This is forcefully grabbing a woman. Do you think I’m still going to run?”

Tang Kai pulled him stuffily into the elevator and pushed Sun Zinan against the elevator wall with a bang.

He was already tall. Along with his posture pressing Sun Zinan against the wall, he seemed very condescending. This scenario gave an inexplicable feeling of softening legs.

Sun Zinan’s legs were too long and hit the railing under the mirror on the wall. It poked at him awkwardly and he frowned as he hissed in pain. Tang Kai immediately put a hand behind him, holding his waist as he asked, “Are you hurt?”

Sun Zinan couldn’t help but smile. In order to give him some face, he raised his hands in surrender and said, “It’s nothing, you can continue.”

Tang Kai merely looked down at him, his momentum from just now completely dissipated.

The cold expression only lasted three seconds. He couldn’t control his face anymore and sighed. “I’ll deal with you when we get back to the room.”

The two of them remained like this without moving. Sun Zinan glanced at the security camera but before he could speak, Tang Kai grasped his chin and made him face him again. “Don’t look anywhere else, you’re only allowed to look at me.”

Sun Zinan began laughing. “So overbearing?”

Tang Kai said, “I’m afraid you’ll run away.”

Sun Zinan retorted, “Where can I even run to?”

The elevator stopped on the twelfth floor. Tang Kai grabbed Sun Zinan’s wrist and pushed him into the room.

This time he wasn’t willing to press Sun Zinan against the door again. He put both hands around his waist and said menacingly, “Give me an honest account. Who exactly are you chasing after to come all the way over?”

It would’ve been fine if he hadn’t mentioned. Once it was brought out, Sun Zinan’s mood became terrible.

He bypassed Tang Kai, then reached out to press the air conditioning panel and raised the temperature by a few degrees. He said huffily, “What do you think? If I didn’t come for you then would I have come for your ex-girlfriend?”

He pushed away Tang Kai’s hand, took off his trench coat, and was about to find a hanger to hang when he heard Tang Kai ask angrily behind him, “Who? Say it again, whose ex-girlfriend?”

“Li Ning, haven’t you seen her?” Sun Zinan said, “Didn’t she come too?”

Tang Kai couldn’t believe it. “Isn’t she your ex-girlfriend? When did she become my ex-girlfriend!”

Sun Zinan tossed his clothes to the side. “Are you crazy? I don’t even know her. She’s your fucking classmate!”

Tang Kai said angrily, “If you don’t know her then why did you drink coffee with her! And smile at her!”

Sun Zinan really wanted to give him an earful to sober him up. “It’s your ex-girlfriend who came running all the way to my front door to find me! Do you understand! How the fuck does this have nothing to do with you, why would I pay attention to her?”

Tang Kai was dumbfounded.

He finally found the thread of truth from this mess, but it was like an inextricable mass of high-voltage wires, crackling with sparks, driving him from a haughty empress to the original troublemaker. Tang Kai was struck from head to toe; the feeling was no different than if he had been struck by lightning.

Sun Zinan had just shouted at him and strained his fragile airways. He couldn’t help but turn his head away and cough several times.

The movement seemed to remind Tang Kai and he revived his spirits, instantly sprawling all over Sun Zinan and sadly declaring, “Emperor, you must listen to concubine, concubine has been wronged!”

Sun Zinan, “…”

He didn’t have a chance to resist before he was pushed by Tang Kai’s force into the sofa. A heavy wail emitted from his waist.

“What are you talking about…” He coughed a few times, then gasped, “How have you been wronged?”

“I don’t have an ex-girlfriend, I’ve never had one.”

Tang Kai lowered his head and kissed him, tracing the features of his face with little pecks before saying hoarsely, “I only have you.”

Not only did he feel guilty, but he also felt like he had suffered a few unclear grievances. It was as if he had clearly wanted to be good to a person, but had done something wrong; he wanted to lay his heart out, but was afraid he wouldn’t be appreciated.

“I’m sorr…”

Before the words were finished, Sun Zinan took the initiative to prop himself up and quickly pecked at his lips, blocking Tang Kai’s apology.

“That’s enough, don’t come near me.” He pushed Tang Kai’s shoulder away and said, “I have a cold, be careful of getting infected.”

Tang Kai blinked, but refused to let him go. He pressed their foreheads together, his gaze almost watery as he asked, “Are you not angry?”

Sun Zinan raised his hand and patted his face, quirking his lips as he replied, “I’m a mature adult, do I have to compete with a little vinegar?”

“…”

Tang Kai reluctantly asked, “Then why don’t you eat my vinegar?”

Sun Zinan laughed dryly, thinking to himself, nonsense, if I wasn’t jealous, I wouldn’t have a cold right now.

But he absolutely refused to admit that he was as childish as Tang Kai so he said casually, “I trust you, isn’t that enough?”

Tang Kai suddenly felt like he had a lot of pressure but there was also a kind of indescribable iron will. He hemmed and hawed as he said, “You’re so sensible and considerate. It seems like I’m too petty.”

“Isn’t that what it is…move, you’re about to press me to death.” Sun Zinan said, “Your generosity is not big, but your stature is not small. You’re also a childish demon.”

Tang Kai got up and easily rescued Sun Zinan from the couch. “Then did you have to chase this childish demon all the way to B City?”

Sun Zinan huffed coldly and said, “Only I can be blind to your faults, other people can’t be blind.”

He even said he didn’t eat vinegar.

Tang Kai couldn’t resist, and laughed out loud a few times but didn’t overdo it. He recalled Sun Zinan’s evaluation of him during their first date. Today, he had finally learned what ‘your contradictions are very cute’ meant.

Sun Zinan still had a cold and had sat on the plane all afternoon. He hadn’t said much but was already slightly tired. After this, although Professor Tang was not a newlywed, he acted more like a newlywed than an actual one would act like. He simply pushed off his dinner event and called for room service. Taking advantage of the fact that the other participants had gone out, he moved his luggage from the fifth floor to the twelfth floor and happily stayed in the room with Sun Zinan.

Sun Zinan was a young master of a rich family who would not wrong himself. The hotel did not have a presidential suite so he had asked for the biggest business suite. There was only one big bed in the room. At the moment he was leaning on the bed looking at Tang Kai, and said with an amused tone, “Will there be a problem if you run away from your dinner event like this?”

Tang Kai replied benevolently, “If I go, I’ll definitely meet with Li Ning. Do you still have a sense of territory?”

“Loyalty is created through self-restraint, not whipping.” Sun Zinan smiled and gave him a glance. “Will you just fly to your freedom if I’m not watching you?”

“So I’m not going.” Tang Kai flung out his finger and said, “You see, my logic deserves full points.”

He had swept away the depression from the past few days and his entire person was bright because of Sun Zinan’s arrival. He was clearly very happy.

Sun Zinan was engrossed in his own deep thoughts, thinking about how he had managed to like someone who was so pure and childish. It seemed like karma was real. Whatever sweetness he had lacked in his past life had been made up by Tang Kai.

After the two of them had dinner, Sun Zinan took some anti-inflammatory cold medicine and was sent to bed early by Tang Kai. Tang Kai was about to turn the lights off for him, but Sun Zinan frowned and said, “Keep the bedside lamp on, don’t close the door.”

He almost blurted out ‘Why?’ before swallowing it back in time. When Tang Kai thought of Sun Zinan’s childhood nightmare, he understood his fear.

The warm yellow light did not seem to warm his cold, furrowed brows. He had physically awakened from the nightmare a long time ago, but Sun Zinan’s sense of security had been forever left behind in that night, in that room. As long as the world had darkness and shadows, he would be bound for life, unable to break free.

Tang Kai stood at the door for a moment and said, “If you don’t think I’m noisy, I’ll bring my laptop in to accompany you.”

Sun Zinan turned over, burying half his face into the soft pillow. “No, the light is too dim. Sitting in bed and looking at the screen will hurt your eyes. Go outside to work.”

Tang Kai went back to bed and squatted down in front of Sun Zinan.

Sun Zinan opened his eyes. “What?”

“I’ll be the only person outside, it’s dark and cold.” Tang Kai said shamelessly, solemnly opening his eyes as he spouted out nonsense. “I’m scared of the dark.”

Sun Zinan felt like Professor Tang had achieved a new level of tossing away his dignity in front of him. He didn’t even leave himself the last bit of face.

He numbly shrank back into his quilt and scolded, “Don’t make a scene, go edit your paper.”

“I won’t.” Tang Kai grabbed the corner of his quilt and refused to let go, dragging it out by a few centimeters. Using a magnetic and coquettish baritone, he said, “I want to sleep with you.”

He paused, and then threw out a more lethal phrase. “Okay~ Husband~”

If Sun Zinan really didn’t have any strength left at the moment, he would have immediately leaped out and spun him around in a whirlwind.

“Professor Tang.” He gently pinched the tip of Tang Kai’s nose. “Do you still want any face?”

Tang Kai pulled his hand down and kissed it. He was half kneeling by the bed, his face beautiful, his posture straight. He was still neatly dressed in a formal shirt, like a knight with a sword guarding him in the middle of the night. His gentle smile was glittering with a hint of slyness, and it was impossible to take his gaze away.

“With you, I don’t need anything else.”
