Favorite of the Beast-world: I Got Rich Through Farming-Chapter 52 - 53: That Snake Clan Mate?
Mi Yin’s consciousness, held on by sheer force of will, was on the verge of collapse. After setting An Jin down on the riverbank, he transformed into a black and red python and instantly plunged into the depths.
The burning sensation he had desperately suppressed finally erupted, and an overwhelming pain seared through every nerve in his body.
The black and red python writhed and thrashed on the deserted riverbed, frantically slamming its body against the mud and rocks. The sharp edges of the stones tore away scorched scales and rotting flesh, while the cool river water soothed his violent agony.
A while later.
Mi Yin finally surfaced, his head breaking the water. He flicked his bright red forked tongue, sampling the air for the scent of herbs that could stop the female’s bleeding.
The female was leaning against a large rock by the water’s edge, her eyes closed.
Her face was pale and haggard. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
The gash on her shoulder blade had begun to clot, but blood still trickled from the wound.
Mi Yin chewed the herbs he had found into a pulp and applied it to her wound. Beyond that, he didn’t know what else to do.
This was what he always did when he was injured, but he had no idea if it would work on the female.
He watched her face, waiting with a mix of anticipation and anxiety. He waited until the sun sank toward dusk, when her eyelashes finally fluttered.
Mi Yin’s heart pounded in his chest, and his serpentine pupils constricted. He started to reach out, wanting to pull her into his arms so she could rest more comfortably, but he froze midway through the motion. He glanced down at his own bleeding, festering abdomen and tail. His previously calm expression instantly twisted with anxiety and fear.
’Snake Beasts are already unpopular with mates,’ he thought. ’With a wound this ugly and horrifying, I’ll be even more repulsive...’
Pained by the thought, Mi Yin finally went to find some herbs for himself, doing his best to treat his battered body.
He didn’t want her to see him looking so wretched and ugly the moment she woke up.
The slightly acidic juice from the herbs seeped into his charred, swollen flesh, causing a wide area of his skin to sting painfully.
A thin sheen of sweat beaded on Mi Yin’s calm face, but his slender fingers dug into the tree trunk he was leaning against. In his agony, his long snake tail thrashed restlessly, twisting itself into knots...
With a soft, unconscious groan, the female slowly opened her eyes. She struggled to her feet, shook her head, and looked around in a daze.
The first thing she saw was an unfamiliar Beastman from the Snake Clan. As her memories of the sea of flames slowly returned, she began to have a vague impression of him. "You’re..."
Mi Yin spun around instantly, putting a good deal of distance between them. Startled, he transformed back into a black and red python. He then began coiling himself up on the ground, winding his body into a tight mound.
Mi Yin coiled himself as tightly as possible, forming a great, fleshy pyramid. He buried the ugly, festering part of his body deep within his coils, not stopping until he was certain the female couldn’t see his wounds.
His head came to rest atop the coiled mound.
"HISS~"
He watched her uneasily.
"Huh?" An Jin wasn’t sure what to make of the situation.
In her hazy memory, it seemed this Snake Clan Beastman had saved her, but his appearance felt too coincidental. She couldn’t quite wrap her head around it.
She had a vague feeling that he was familiar.
An Jin had received some of the original owner’s memories, and she suddenly recalled something Xi had told her. It hit her in a flash. "Are you the Snake Clan Beastman I’m mated to?"
The Red Snake lifted his head slightly, his red eyes gleaming. He gazed at An Jin with fervent expectation. ’He hadn’t thought she would remember him at all...’
’So it really is him,’ An Jin thought. ’My Snake Beast mate.’
An Jin rubbed her swollen, aching shoulder blade and hissed in pain. Even with the layer of herbal pulp, the wound still throbbed.
She got to her feet and walked toward him.
