Favorite of the Beast-world: I Got Rich Through Farming-Chapter 350 - 233: Making an "ID Card" + That’s a Madman
Seeing Mi Yin on the verge of a violent, suppressed rage, the already frigid deep sea seemed to drop several more degrees, a chill that raised goosebumps and made one’s hair stand on end.
An Jin knew this snake’s temperament all too well. Right now, every fiber of his being, from head to toe, down to every last strand of his hair, seemed to be screaming, ’I’m about to snap,’ ’I want to snap,’ and ’I really want to butcher a fish...’
At a time like this, she absolutely could not afford to shield Xi. Doing so would only make Mi Yin, blinded by fury, all the more eager to kill him.
"I don’t feel so well..." Her face was a little pale as she held out her wrist, which was chafed red and stained with dried blood. She swam toward him. "Look, I’m hurt."
Mi Yin immediately turned his head to look. His aura grew even more frigid and terrifying. Though his face remained sullen and his lips were pressed into a thin line, An Jin knew the focus of his rage had shifted.
Xi also turned his head to look at her, his exquisite face taking on a shattered expression. His azure tail lay limply on the seafloor, twitching feebly.
"The Red-tailed Mermaid who kidnapped me did this." This part was true. When the Mermaid had abducted her, he’d seemed to be in a great hurry, grabbing her hand with his sharp claws before immediately dragging her into the sea.
Her initial injuries had been far more numerous and severe. However, after she became a Beastman, her body’s self-healing ability had awakened, and the wounds had scabbed over in the blink of an eye.
But she knew that even such a trivial little wound would still make Mi Yin’s heart ache with worry.
"What Mermaid?" he asked in a low voice, grabbing her wrist.
"He was from the Beast Slave King City. He’s dead now." An Jin produced the Red Scale. "Look at the black markings on it. This is the slave seal the Beast Slave King City brands on its Beastmen."
"...Beast Slave King City?" His gaze fell upon the Red Scale in her hand. He glanced at it for a moment, but seeming to find it uninteresting, he looked away and became lost in thought.
An Jin nodded. She was discovering that neither Xi nor Mi Yin seemed to know much about the legendary Beast Slave King City. There was even... ’A hint of confusion?’
’That’s strange. It’s supposed to be one of the four great Royal Cities, with its influence and combat power at S-rank, at the very least. So why are Beastmen in general so unfamiliar with it?’
"If I’m not mistaken, the people from that Royal City have targeted me. They want to capture me..." She took his hand, looking straight into his face, which had suddenly become fraught with worry and a cold grimness. In a soft voice, she said, "Let’s talk about it in detail when we get back, okay? I’m not feeling very well right now."
Submerged in the frigid seawater, the color drained further from her face.
An Jin had perfectly diverted Mi Yin’s incipient rage. His mind didn’t even have time to process jealousy before concern for her instinctively took over. His remaining anger shifted from Xi to the Beast Slave King City.
"Fine. We’ll leave now."
He shot a glance at the Merfolk sprawled on the seafloor and said flatly, "If you’re not dead, keep up."
Xi fought back the pain wracking his body. With a flick of his mangled tail, he followed with great difficulty, his swimming form unsteady and on the verge of collapse.
"COUGH, COUGH—" He clutched his chest, coughing incessantly. A coppery sweetness filled his throat, and his eyes were so bloodshot that his vision blurred and turned red. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
An Jin clung to Mi Yin’s arm, casting a pained glance toward Xi. ’Forcing him to swim at high speed for over a thousand kilometers in such a battered state is no different from sentencing him to a slow death.’
She bought a Golden Healing Pill from the System Mall and quietly cupped it in her palm. Then, letting go of Mi Yin, she swam over to Xi. "Open your mouth."
Sensing An Jin’s concern, Xi, who had been struggling to hold back his emotions, suddenly felt his eyes sting. The sense of injury became too much to bear. "Ah... Ah Jin..." he choked out, his voice thick with tears.
’Being beaten so badly by that snake was both humiliating and heartbreaking.’ The corners of his eyes reddened, and pearlescent tears welled up, threatening to spill over.
Though he didn’t know what she was doing, he obediently opened his mouth. An Jin’s fingertips brushed against his soft lips, and a moment later, he swallowed something unfamiliar.
"What is this...?" The Little Merfolk’s tears subsided a bit. He couldn’t help but lick his lips. It tasted a little bitter.
He suddenly realized the pain in his body wasn’t as intense, and some strength had returned to his voice.
"It’s for your injuries," An Jin said curtly. Sensing the temperature behind her dropping again, she quickly swam back to Mi Yin’s side.
Xi watched her swim away until she was distant, his fingers curling involuntarily. The light that had just returned to his blue eyes dimmed once more. Finally, with a dejected flick of his tail, he followed.
