Dannas propped his chin on his hand, long legs crossed, his posture one of lazy nobility. He gazed gently at his only descendant, who had returned victorious. "You’re much faster than I expected. It seems you’ve successfully devoured the last Snake Beast and ascended to a King Beast."

Gu Yin looked coldly at the snake-tailed man on the high throne. He had a face almost identical to his own—black hair and red eyes, mature yet not appearing old.

His mature, wicked appearance was completely different from the old geezer the Wandering Beasts had spoken of.

And behind him, he even had a pair of black-and-red wings tucked away.

"..." A flicker of surprise crossed Gu Yin’s face. Despite having received the inherited memories, he still couldn’t hide his shock at seeing a winged Snake Beast for the first time.

Ever since he had devoured Chi not long ago, he had vaguely noticed changes happening within his own body, but because his partner was injured, he hadn’t had the time to investigate them thoroughly.

He didn’t seem to realize that his "son" had been replaced by another.

"Naturally," Gu Yin replied, a faint smile on his lips, his gaze deep. He then followed the snake-tailed man, who slithered down from his throne, to the back garden.

The thick stench of blood reached its zenith.

Mutilated corpses of all kinds of Beastmen were strewn about—scorpions, centipedes, Snake Beasts, spiders... They were countless.

In the very center, surrounded by the bodies, stood a deformed plant two to three meters tall. Its stalk was green, while its not-yet-fully-closed bud was a pale pink.

Thousands upon thousands of small, sharp white teeth lined the inside of the bud. It was madly devouring the Beastman corpses piled at its base, swallowing half a Beastman in a single bite.

’Could the fruit produced by this ugly thing really be the Beast God Fruit?’

Gu Yin frowned. He didn’t make any rash moves. It would be a disaster if he brought it back for Jin’er to eat, only for it to be poisonous.

’So what those Wandering Beasts said was true. Dannas really was using living beings as sacrifices to feed a demonic plant.’

"Once it has eaten one hundred Beastmen, it can bear the legendary Beast God Fruit. It’s already on its ninety-eighth. We’re just two Beastmen short..." Dannas said, looking at Gu Yin, but the smile didn’t reach his eyes.

"Then I will wait for it to successfully bear its fruit."

Gu Yin decided to stay in the castle for a few more days to see if this thing would truly produce the legendary Beast God Fruit.

One evening, Dannas had to leave on some business. Gu Yin took advantage of his absence to head to the back garden, wanting to get a closer look at the strange plant.

But in the garden, he unexpectedly ran into a crazed female.

"AHHH—I hate you! Let me go! Let me leave!" The crazed female, who had appeared out of nowhere, shrieked as she charged toward Gu Yin, her face twisted like a demon born of hatred.

Her fiery red hair was a tangled mess, like an abandoned nest. Her complexion held the pallor of someone who had been imprisoned for years, never seeing the sun.

Even though she was crazed and in such a terrible state, one could still faintly see the enchanting beauty of her youth.

’For a female to appear in this Stone Castle, could she be—’

Before Gu Yin could guess the female’s identity, the expression of a nearby Beast Servant changed drastically, and he scrambled over to grab the crazed female.

He began dragging her away as if she were livestock. "Lord Chi, it’s our fault. We weren’t watching her properly and accidentally let her get out. She’s just a little wary of strangers..."

"Sob... Let go of me! Let go! I don’t want to stay here anymore..." the female struggled, but the Beastman’s grip was incredibly strong.
