Favorite of the Beast-world: I Got Rich Through Farming-Chapter 244 - 174: Rejuvenation Pill + Granary
Due to the presence of Absurd City, the Western River Valley had always been a forbidden land that Beastmen rarely entered.
Even though it served as a crucial trading hub for many tribes, traveling Beastmen would go to great lengths to take detours, avoiding any encounters with the vicious Wandering Beasts within the city.
Ling Hong was worldly and familiar with the route, while Gu Yin was the tribe’s strongest warrior. It was ultimately decided that the two of them would go search for the Beast God Fruit, while Chi Li and the others remained behind to care for An Jin until she woke up.
Their return had coincided with the end of the first wave of the rainy season’s downpours. By the time An Jin finally awoke, the second wave was nearly over. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
A faint, sweet scent of herbs and flowers filled the wooden cabin. The pale, delicate female lay on a soft bed, a fluffy white quilt tucked tightly around her. Her arm was wrapped in freshly changed gauze bandages.
Her long, dark lashes trembled, and a soft moan escaped her lips. As she struggled to open her eyes, her gaze fell upon a wooden ceiling.
The scene before her gradually sharpened from a blur into focus.
"You’re awake? Do you feel any better?" Chi Li, having noticed her stirring, quickly approached the bed with a freshly brewed medicinal soup and leaned over to ask.
She blinked, her fingers resting on the quilt. Her gaze then settled on his face, lingering there for a long moment before she parted her pale pink lips. "A little thirsty... and very hungry..."
It was as if the long slumber had erased many of her memories. With her dazed expression, she resembled a cute, newborn cub.
Chi Li could only force a bitter smile. He prepared some fresh, hot food for her, along with some sweet, cooled boiled water.
She liked her water boiled, then left to cool.
Chi Li watched as she ate, bite by bite. It was the most ordinary of scenes, yet he watched with rapt attention for a long time.
Normally, being watched while she ate would have made her feel awkward, but An Jin was ravenous now. She was so hungry it felt like her stomach was twisting into a tight, sour knot.
"How long... was I asleep?" She wiped the moisture from her lips, her gaze drifting to the window. Outside, a fierce storm raged against a dark sky.
"A full month."
"What? That long?" An Jin was completely stunned. She placed a hand on her bandaged abdomen, but the moment it made contact, her face contorted in pain.
"Yeah. If we hadn’t used Green Crystals to sustain you, you would have starved to death long ago."
Chi Li had long since cleaned up the Crystal Stone fragments from the floor. He finished clearing away the dishes and was about to leave when he heard a hesitant voice from behind him, making him pause.
"How is... my body doing now?"
An Jin was filled with apprehension.
After a long moment, he finally replied, "You’re recovering... reasonably well. But you were critically injured for a long time. It might take several years to fully recuperate. Don’t move around too much until you’re healed."
The fox-eared youth’s voice was flat, yet his knuckles turned white from how tightly he gripped the stone bowl, as if he were about to snap it in two.
An Jin’s gaze fell on his tall, ramrod-straight back. After a long moment, she looked away and replied with a cheerful expression, "That’s great news. A real stroke of luck, all things considered. I honestly thought I was going to die."
’But she had just scanned her body with her spiritual power, so she knew just how battered it really was.’
’She’d been lucky to survive, but she was basically crippled.’
’Chi Li must be saying that because he doesn’t want to upset me.’
’During her coma, An Jin had vaguely heard them talking about a "Beast God Fruit." Since Gu Yin and Ling Hong weren’t here, they must have gone to find that miraculous fruit for her.’
’But the chances of finding it must be slim. Otherwise, Chi Li’s expression wouldn’t be so full of restrained grief, and his entire demeanor wouldn’t have suddenly grown so much more mature and somber.’
[Dearest Host, don’t be sad! The System Shop sells Rejuvenation Medicine that can treat severe injuries and help you heal quickly!]
After checking the price, Mirror Mirror’s excited tone immediately deflated. It dejectedly poked its small, robotic fingers. [It... it only costs 2,000 Gold Coins. You’re currently short by 1,050 Gold Coins...]
"It’s okay. We can always earn more Gold Coins. At least now we have something to strive for." An Jin, surprisingly, breathed a sigh of relief.
’Though, considering her turtle-like pace of saving only about 1,000 Gold Coins in three years, she’d have to wait roughly another three years before she could buy the Rejuvenation Medicine.’
