Chapter 263: To the ’Wailing Hills’. Part-2.

Border City, Asoport.

It took Jareth nearly three hours to travel to the border city of Asoport from the capital.

The train was equipped with state-of-the-art magic equipment, and as it was meant to be a fast escape method for the royal family, it was so fast that it didn’t take him much time to reach Asoport.

The distance between Capital City Delta and Asoport, which is located near the border, is around a thousand kilometers, but with magic and technology, it’s not a big deal to travel such a distance in a short time.

He got down from the train, and there were already people arranged to wait for his arrival.

It was a small team of knights who were likely Reynald’s trusted subordinates.

Jareth nodded his head at them as a greeting and shook hands with the leader of the Knights.

’Hoh, they aren’t afraid of me... I guess staying under a grade-1 for a long time has given them enough experience...’

As those knights were Reynald’s direct subordinates, they had enough experience in standing under the presence of a grade-1 mage.

Thus, they weren’t intimidated by Jareth’s overbearing presence and were able to keep themselves calm, unlike others.

The head knight led Jareth through a series of corridors, and the other knight followed behind in a tight formation.

The knights maintained their silence and didn’t speak a single word and protected him with vigilance.

Jareth was impressed by their loyalty and devotion to their work.

In a world filled with rotting chaos and miasmic corruption, there are very few people who are able to keep their loyalty and devotion intact; this group was indeed impressive.

After walking through those long corridors, Jareth arrived at a secret basement area from where they climbed upwards and reached the terrace of a building located on a hill near the outskirts of the city.

Standing on the terrace of the building, Jareth looked at the magical city of Asoport with a look of awe in his eyes.

"It’s more beautiful than I expected... no wonder they call it the city of magical chariots..."

Asoport is a city located not too far away from the entrance to the ’Wailing Hills’ area, and Jareth has been here in the game many times.

But the real city is much more beautiful compared to the game.

Asoport has the word ’Port’ in its name because since ancient times, this place has been famous for its amazing magical chariot-creating technologies.

It has the highest number of ’ports’ for all types of transportation methods that use magical technologies.

Flying chariots, magic trains, magic cars, etc. Asoport is the main hub where all of these things are created, and its entire economy is heavily dependent on exporting these things.

This is one of the richest cities in the entire nation and contributes heavily to the overall GDP of the nation.

Due to its strategic importance, many threats target it all year long, and it’s been hit by many tragedies over the course of centuries, but due to the efforts of the hard-working people here, it is still standing.

Even in the game, this city was one of the main attraction spots, as it was filled with thrilling adventures, and the players could even buy their own flying chariots in this place as long as they had the money for it.

Once players had gathered enough money, all of them would come here to buy a flying chariot for themselves so that travelling and exploring the world would become easier for them.

The main reason for this place’s attraction among the players was that it was the main checkpoint from where you can challenge the ’Wailing Winds’ area.

Every time you die in the ’Wailing Winds’ area, this is the place where you will spawn back, and you will have to try all over again from here.

Just like how this place is connected with nice memories of players, it’s also connected with the horrible memories of continuously trying to conquer the ’Wailing Hills’ area.

’If I was weaker, I would have never dared to even try this challenge... thankfully, I managed to secure some acceptable level of strength for myself...’

Jareth stared at the bright city filled with liveliness and happiness for a while before leaving the knights and heading towards a hidden warehouse nearby.

There were many resources prepared in the warehouse beforehand.

There were things like dried food, clothing, potions, and many other important things that might turn out to be useful for the difficult adventure ahead.

Jareth already had his own space ring filled with important items, but he didn’t mind taking the extra stuff.

He took the space ring given for free and stored a lot of potions and items without hesitation.

"Hoh, you have prepared even high-grade healing potions too... that quite nice..."

The Head Knight nodded his head and said proudly,

"All of this is the benevolence of my liege... feel free to take as many as you would like, my liege has told us to grant you as many as you might wish to take..."

Jareth nodded his head and took the healing potions too.

After taking the items he wanted to take, he went with the Knights and headed towards the secret pathway that was leading towards the main wall that was protecting the city.

The group took a magic chariot and flew as low as possible to maintain secrecy as they headed towards a hidden door that was located behind the hill near a secluded place.

The head knight placed his hand on the giant wall, and the wall opened on its own as if it were a door.

’Illusion magic... the entire city is protected by a strong, thick wall from the outside, and at one glance there is only one main door leading outside.

But this door is hidden with illusion magic, so if someone attacks from outside, they can’t see that here is a second door, which is much weaker than the main door.

Once the door opened, Jareth noticed that there were many guards hidden in shadows and protecting the walls with great vigilance. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

’The security in this city is really strong... well, it’s a very important city; obviously there will be tight security here...’

Jareth had in fact already scanned the entire city with his mana detection, and he already knew that hundreds of thousands of guards were wandering around in the city disguised as ordinary people.

They were all protecting the city and keeping it safe.

Aside from the police and military, which are easier to evaluate, it’s difficult to find how many people are present who are hiding in the shadows.

This is the main reason why this city is so much safer than others.

Even if cultists attack here, they will end up facing massive backlash.

’Forget it, it has nothing to do with me...’

Jareth didn’t bother thinking about this matter further and walked forward.

After passing through the giant door, Jareth finally reached outside the border of the nation.

"We can only escort you this far, Mr. Jareth; you will have to go on your own from here onwards."

Jareth nodded his head at the head knight’s words.

"Send my regards to your liege... I shall leave now."

[Basic Magic: Float!]

Jareth waved his arm and cast his ’float’ spell and immediately flew away at an extremely fast speed.
