Chapter 1313: Chapter 1311: I’m Getting That Bread No Matter What!

Soon, morning came.

This was the Alliance’s camp, a small city not far from Kasha City. Richard’s temporary residence was located in a mansion at the center of this small city.

In the courtyard, there was a small garden with an open space. In the open space, there was a long stone table, and at this moment, Richard was sitting behind it.

On the stone table was a Papyrus Scroll. Richard was holding a Quill, writing on the Papyrus Scroll, making a "scribble, scribble, scribble" sound as he recorded some items he planned to test next.

"Scribble, scribble, scribble..."

After about a minute and a half of writing, Richard stopped the Quill and looked up ahead. There stood Bi Bi, who was already very impatient. Yawning, she looked over and asked, "Hey, I’m about to fall asleep here, can you speed it up?"

"We can start now."

"Alright, that was really not easy." Bi Bi pouted and then asked, "You mentioned needing me to work for you, calling me here, what exactly do you want to do?"

"Help me test a spell idea."

"Be more specific?" Bi Bi asked, a bit confused.

"Specifically, I will use a spell to try to bind you, preventing you from leaving a certain area. Meanwhile, you must try to escape so that I can understand just how strong the binding effect of this spell is," Richard explained.

Bi Bi listened and nodded, seemingly understanding but not fully. After about three seconds, she rolled her eyes somewhat disdainfully and said, "Sounds pretty simple... But hey, for doing this work for you, there will be some kind of reward, right? I’m not really into money, but you should at least offer some food and drink?"

"Well... How about this?" Richard thought for a moment, then turned his hand and took out a stick-like loaf of bread, placing it at the edge of the stone table. He asked, "If during the test you can break free from where you’re standing to the stone table and get this bread, I’ll let you have it, how’s that?"

"Just that—" Bi Bi glanced at it, stretching out her tone with some indifference, then said with a pout, "Don’t underestimate me!

I do like eating, but a piece of bread can’t tempt me. After all, I’ve seen the world—eaten plenty of bread! Besides, that bread looks cracked on the outside, obviously not baked with care, and the ends are somewhat dry, the taste probably isn’t good, I don’t like it."

"Uh... How about adding this?" Richard thought for a moment, then turned his hand again, pulling out a glass bottle filled with Amber colored liquid.

"What’s that?" Bi Bi looked over, showing a bit more interest in her eyes.

Richard didn’t rush to answer, instead, he opened the bottle stopper, releasing a distinct, rich grape aroma, along with the sweet and sour smell from fermentation.

Bi Bi sniffed it, her eyes brightened, and the words slipped out: "It’s wine! Hmm, seems like very fresh wine, the taste should be quite good, gulp..." She swallowed lightly by the end.

"Is this okay?" Richard asked.

"Okay, it’s a deal." Bi Bi agreed readily, her eyes fixed on the wine without looking away.

"Alright, get ready, we can start now." Richard placed the open bottle at the edge of the stone table and looked at Bi Bi.

Bi Bi took a deep breath and quickly nodded to indicate she was ready.

Richard didn’t hold back, he began to recite the spell slowly. A ball of blood-red energy formed in his hand, which he then flung straight at Bi Bi.

"Poof!"

A sound echoed as the blood-red energy hit Bi Bi’s body, dispersing like mist and vanishing without a trace. Richard called out to Bi Bi, "Alright, you can try to leave your spot now."

"No problem," Bi Bi quickly responded. She cautiously moved her toe forward and realized nothing bad happened, feeling no abnormalities.

Bi Bi blinked a few times, her eyes wide open, not fully understanding, but without further thought, she moved swiftly towards the stone table, reaching out to grab the wine and bread.

One step, two steps, three steps...

As Bi Bi took the fourth step, she felt a slight resistance forming in the air around her.

By the fifth step, the resistance grew stronger.

By the sixth step, the resistance was even greater, very noticeable.

The seventh step made Bi Bi feel a bit strained.

By the eighth step, it felt like countless hands were tugging at her body, trying to drag her back, stopping her from moving forward.

Bi Bi frowned deeply, glanced at the stone table just three meters away, and looked at the bread and wine on the table, biting her lip and mustering all her strength to take the ninth step.

Lift leg, step forward, stamp down... stomp down forcefully... tread down desperately...

"Bang!"

Her foot hit the ground.

She succeeded!

Feeling the solid ground beneath her foot, Bi Bi’s expression brightened, seeing the wine within arm’s reach, and she relaxed a bit internally.

But as soon as she relaxed, the drag on her body abruptly increased several times over. It was like a spring she had stretched to its max length, and without having time to react, she was yanked back forcefully.

"Bang!"

With a thud, Bi Bi was flung back to her original spot, landing hard on the ground.

Several seconds passed before Bi Bi stood up, slightly bewildered. She looked at the position she stood a few seconds ago, then where she was now, feeling a bit confused.

What had just pulled her back?

Turning her head, Bi Bi finally noticed countless semi-transparent light red energy strands wrapping around her. These energy strands were attached at one end to her body, and the other end to the surrounding air, confining her to this small area.

So that’s how it is...

Bi Bi reached out, attempting to cut the light red energy strands, only to find the strands seemed to exist in a different dimension, making them hard to influence. Even if she did manage to cut through one with great effort, the strand would swiftly regenerate.

After wasting several minutes and confirming she truly couldn’t destroy the strands, Bi Bi reluctantly accepted reality.

She resigned not to destroy them, but was determined to leave this area... Last time she wasn’t ready, this time she’d put all her strength into it; she didn’t believe she couldn’t do it.

"Huff—hah—"

Bi Bi took a deep breath and started moving towards the stone table again.

One step, two steps, three steps... still easy.

Then the fourth step... the same resistance as before appeared.

Fifth step, sixth step, seventh step... resistance kept increasing.

Eighth step... resistance grew so large her body could barely fight it.

Ninth step!

Bi Bi bit her lip, forcibly taking the ninth step, and immediately got dragged back by tremendous force.

"Bang!"

Once again crashing to the ground, Bi Bi stood up angrily, dusting off her clothes and glaring at the bread and wine on the stone table.

Honestly, she hadn’t really wanted that bread and wine—just usual craving. But after two consecutive falls on her butt, she was getting ticked off.

Let’s put it this way: whether it’s for herself or especially for her butt, today she was definitely going to eat that bread, definitely going to drink that wine!
