Eternal Freedom's Ascension-Chapter 87: Combat Training Exam (4)
Kaiser stared back at Sebastian, his eyes dark and empty.
"Watch carefully. You wouldn’t understand."
Sebastian’s expression changed at that declaration, but he soon burst into laughter.
"Is that right? I’m looking forward to it."
Pocketing his hands, he walked away. Kaiser didn’t say anything, but simply became passive again.
The next battles were slightly tense. When Hazel’s name was called, she fought with vigor and skill befitting of a Legacy Awakened.
Her movements were smooth and precise, each attack carried out with great efficiency.
In the end, she got a draw result of with a 0% margin.
’Just as I predicted.’ Kaiser thought, bored.
He watched the next battles occur, not really interested. Ysabella’s fight was slightly touching, but she ended up with a defeat. Kiera also performed well, using her blood ability to boost herself.
As for Ariel, he was very mechanical in his battle. He barely stressed himself, only exchanging a few blows effortlessly before he allowed himself to be tossed around the stage like a rag doll.
Apart from them, the only other student who performed well was Emily, the girl who had been curious about Kaiser’s cooking skills weeks ago.
Finally, Rina called upon the last student to have his examination.
"Kaiser Solace, your turn."
The young man casually strolled onto the stage, not even bothering to summon an armor. Still in the school’s tracksuit, he merely summoned the Nameless Fang.
The black dagger materialized into his hand like a cheap knife, though its pitch black blade looked ominous.
The last unused automaton walked onto the stage and stood opposite him, carrying a thick spear in its hand.
["Combat Mode: Level 6. Engaging."]
After the mechanical voice announced, neither Kaiser nor the automaton moved. They simply stared at each other for about half a minute, then the automaton moved.
It surged towards Kaiser, the spear making a sweeping arc.
Screeee-!
Kaiser calmly deflected the attack with the flat of his dagger, not moving an inch. The automaton did a flip in the air, stabbing repeatedly in a single second.
Suddenly, it looked like the sky was raining spear lights. Kaiser remained unfazed, his blue eyes tracking its movements cleanly. He tossed the dagger into the air, accurately deflecting the original spear.
The automaton shot down from the sky, intending to crush him beneath its metal boots. The blue-haired boy calmly sidestepped, allowing it to crash right beside him.
The floor beneath them shook, jagged cracks spreading from the impact.
Both stood beside each other for a few seconds, then Kaiser vanished. A surprise attack flashed through where he had been standing, hitting nothing but air.
Kaiser folded his sleeves, then lifted his hand to catch the blade of the spear thrown at him.
It stopped an inch from his eyes, but he didn’t even blink. Discarding the spear, he took three steps forward and appeared behind the automaton.
His movement was bizarre, leaving the students confused and perplexed. Placing a palm on the automaton’s right shoulder, he held the right arm in a tight grip. Pressing his thumb on a joint, he turned his wrist, twisting the arm in a way that the metal groaned.
He applied a little more force, then pressed down. The parts holding the arm to the shoulder were torn apart, leaving jagged metals and wires sparking.
Kaiser released the torn arm without even glancing at it. If the automaton had an expression, it’d have surely screamed in shock.
Even Instructor Rina was stunned, as she was the only one who knew what kind of metal was used in manufacturing these automatons.
’This cold precision... could it be that assassin clan?’ She felt her heart skip a bit.
The one-armed automaton immediately distanced itself from Kaiser, picking up its spear and facing him warily.
Kaiser remained on a spot, waiting for the robotic machine to attack him. Seeing that he wouldn’t make a move, it twirled its spear and dashed forward.
At a speed that made other students squint, it sped around Kaiser and suddenly launched an attack from the whirlwind it had created.
Kaiser watched the spear approach him, then opened his mouth to bite on the flat of the blade. He caught the weapon between his teeth, stopping it in place entirely. A line of red flowed from the side of his lips, but he didn’t even react.
Seeing as a weapon was ineffective against Kaiser, the automaton discarded the spear and switched to using kicks. Kaiser evaded every single attack with minimal movement, making the one-armed automaton look desperate.
"Uninteresting."
He whispered, then appeared behind the automaton while it was trying to kick him. Before it could even react to his presence, he grabbed the head, then twisted it forcefully.
The neck snapped, and it turned dormant immediately.
["Examination Complete. Result: Victory. Margin - 30%"]
Instructor Rina’s eyes widened, stunned by Kaiser’s cold precision in dismantling the automaton.
’That clan whose name the Guildmaster never mentioned... could it be his clan?’
She wasn’t sure, as she didn’t even have enough evidence. However, she also didn’t want to get involved. After all, the Guildmaster had particularly warned her to avoid contact with anyone from a suspicious assassin clan.
Kaiser walked off the stage, returning to his position without saying a word. The students stared at him, different emotions within their gazes. Some gazes were filled with shock and fear, while others carried caution and intrigue.
Only Ariel regarded him logically. ’His movements doesn’t just show talent. It displays discipline and intense training. His background must be very incredible, capable of comparing to the White Rose.’
While watching Kaiser’s battle, he had come to a conclusion that the blue-haired boy was... an assassin. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
In those lightless green eyes of Ariel, something sparked. He didn’t know, but at that moment, he had already regarded Kaiser as a kin.
"That’s all for today. You should all return to your class now. Your other results are already available."
Instructor Rina’s words made her students grow slightly uneasy. Still, they listened to her and returned to the class. After all, there was still an unresolved matter from yesterday.
Kaiser led the way, completely ignoring the boiling emotions of those behind him. Ariel sighed, hoping that the classroom wouldn’t turn into a brawl house eventually.
’Well, who knows?’
