Chapter 88: Expulsion? Alright

Instructor Rina followed them back to the classroom, trying her best to understand why they all seemed hostile toward Kaiser.

That aside, she needed to announce the results of their exams to them.

"Everyone, back to your seats." She dismissed side talks with a strict expression until the class fell silent.

Logan had woken up, though he had a bandage around his head. Even Aina had received treatment and her injury had been healed.

"Good." Rina nodded, then spoke. "Your scripts have been marked and graded, and your results are ready."

Chris asked nervously, "Um... Instructor, did we do well?"

"That’s for you to decide." Her answer left them uneasy, and their attention focused on the projector.

In less than a minute, it lit up, displaying the results of every single Class-E student.

Logan, Eric, and Jose immediately checked their three most important subjects.

Logan sighed in relief after a few seconds. His score in Combat Training was a solid 80, while his History score was 61. He barely scraped through in Mathematics, scoring 53. Even then, he was relieved as he didn’t have to get expelled from the best Awakened Academy in the world.

Jose also stifled a squeal, as he didn’t fail any of the three subjects. His lowest score was 57 marks in history, slightly above the failing grade.

Eric checked his results and smirked, though his lips quivered slightly. His lowest score was 55 marks in Combat Training, just above the failing grade.

Liam, Hazel, and Ysabella were all relieved as none of those three failed, all escaping expulsion. No other student performed poorly, and the lowest mark in each of those three subjects was 59 marks.

Now moving onto the elite of the class, Kaiser naturally ranked first. He had a consecutive 100 marks in every single subject including Combat Training.

Next was Sebastian who had more 100s than 90s in total. Then below him was Hazel, then Liam, then Astron, then Ysabella, then Charles and Ariel. The other results were slightly average, ranging from 60 marks to 70 marks.

"You did well. This is the second time someone doesn’t drop out from Class-E in their first examination."

Rina praised sincerely, approving of Hazel and the others’ efforts in supporting the academically weak students.

At least it looked like this Class-E would be able to join the competition.

Suddenly, Eric glanced back at Kaiser who was casually reading a novel at his seat. A feeling of displeasure rose within him, and he decided to speak up.

"Are we just going to act like nothing happened yesterday? Kaiser, raise your fucking head up!"

He spoke aggressively, though he didn’t dare stand up and approach him.

Liam winced, attempting to caution him. "Eric, you shouldn’t use a curse—"

Logan coldly cut him off. "Let him speak his mind."

A few others nodded too, making Liam fall silent. He couldn’t quell their anger, and he also wanted to know why Kaiser did that.

Even though he heard Eric’s shout, Kaiser remained unflinching. He seemed lost in the book he was reading, totally ignoring the boy.

"Oi! I’m talking to you!"

Eric’s expression darkened, and he raised his voice.

Hazel glared at him coldly, "Don’t raise your voice. Speak like someone civilized."

Before Eric could bite back, Ysabella gently intervened. "Hazel... you can’t fault him. He’s angry. I’m also curious and would like to know why Kaiser also made us pay that huge sum to get information and cameras. It feels... unfriendly."

Her voice was soft, sweeping the hearts of her classmates and making their gazes gather on the blue-haired young man. Although she acted calm with him, she didn’t like the fact that he knew about her secret.

If she could use this avenue to pressure him into social quarantine, then no one would ever believe him if he spoke against her. Perhaps, he might even get expelled.

Hiding a delightful expression behind a small frown and teary eyes, she looked towards him.

Finally, Kaiser lifted his body off the table. He yawned, cleaned his ears with his pinky finger, then said.

"Noisy."

Eric’s jaws locked in restraint, seriously angered. He wished he could just rush over and punch the guy in the face. However, he couldn’t do that, or more precisely, he didn’t have the capacity of doing that successfully.

Still, he couldn’t retreat at this moment. "Just answer the damned question! Why did you do it?! You knew a lot about the school rules, but instead of telling us, you created a fake account and sold it to us! Then, you went ahead to get the cameras. You also sold it to our own class when we should have gotten it for free! Isn’t that betraying the interest of the class?"

No one refuted him, even though his demands seemed absurd. Well, perhaps it wasn’t absurd to those striving to reach Class-A.

Kaiser sighed, as if too tired to get involved in such an insignificant quarrel.

"Goodness gracious..." He started, "Teacher. How much would it cost to deduct a single mark in a student’s result?"

Rina was surprised when she was targeted, but she quickly replied. "A single mark would cost 50,000 credits. When it exceeds ten marks, the price of each mark doubles."

The conversation between the two threw the class into confusion.

"Deduct a mark? Is that even possible?" Kiera asked, frowning.

Hazel’s eyes shrunk, a bad premonition welled in her chest.

Satisfied by the Instructor’s answer, Kaiser glanced at Eric.

"You had 55 in Combat Training, right?" His gaze shifted back to Instructor Rina. "I want to buy 6 marks from his results."

The whole class fell silent. No one moved, no one said a word, all stunned into silence.

At first, they had been confused by the simple conversation between Kaiser and Instructor Rina, but now they understood the implication behind it.

By purchasing someone’s score, one could bring them below the failing grade and get them expelled. As soon as Liam realized this, he sprang up.

"Kaiser, no!"
