The next morning, Valcourt Mansion, Neil Valcourt’s study.
Knock! Knock!
"Come in." Neil said, sitting behind his study table on a throne-like chair.
The door opened, revealing a beautiful woman who had just turned twenty-seven a few months back.
She was Iris Valcourt, Neil’s eldest daughter and Lucian’s wife.
"Why have you called for me, Father?" Iris asked respectfully, standing not too far from Neil’s study table.
Neil eyed her with a deep gaze, lingering for a few moments before he spoke: "Are you aware of your husband’s whereabouts?"
As soon as she heard his question, her brows furrowed, an expression of disgust evident on her countenance.
She snorted: "I have not accepted him as my husband. Please don’t address him as such, Father. I only married him because you asked me to. I don’t acknowledge him as my husband yet."
Neil sighed: "It has already been a month since your marriage with Lucian. You should at least know his whereabouts."
"Sorry, Father, but I have no interest in him." Iris was annoyed. "I don’t have time to pay attention to his whereabouts."
Iris was a prideful and strong woman, someone who never showed interest in an individual who she considered below her.
Lucian hadn’t earned anything himself, and neither was he competent enough to strive for something meaningful. The only accomplishment he had was being his father’s son. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
She disdained him.
When her father asked her to marry him, of course she wasn’t happy; however, when Neil threatened to marry her off to another family, she had no other choice but to accept.
Lucian had married into the Valcourt family, allowing Iris to have a chance at inheriting Titan Crest Entertainment and fulfill her ambitions.
If she were married off to another family, she would have to abandon those ambitions and instead support her husband from behind the scenes like all the other women did.
She wanted to be on the front and not behind the scenes.
She wanted to achieve something on her own, not be happy for her husband’s accomplishments.
There were many families wealthier and more prosperous than the Valcourts, and marrying into one of those families would surely benefit Neil and the Valcourt family; however, Iris didn’t want that kind of life.
Even Neil didn’t want his children to stay away from him. He loved his children and wanted to let them stay with him.
After considering all this, Lucian was the perfect candidate to marry into the Valcourt family.
His father was the second-highest shareholder, and once his son married into the Valcourt family, Neil and Iris could have full control of Titan Crest Entertainment’s decision-making.
Moreover, after Lucian’s father died, he would be the one to inherit his father’s shares, indirectly returning them to the Valcourts’ clutches.
However, while Lucian had successfully married Iris, Iris still wasn’t one to accept him as her man just because they were married.
She wanted him to prove himself useful, and to that cause, she appointed him as the Head of the Acting Department to assist her in surpassing her siblings and, ultimately, inheriting the company.
In her mind, she was on the right track.
If she proved herself capable and inherited Titan Crest Entertainment, then not only would she have Neil’s shares and control, she would also have Lucian’s father’s shares in her hands, making her the sole and complete owner of the company.
Moreover, there was another plan that Neil had in mind.
Previous to Aren’s death, Aren was the second-highest shareholder, but after he was killed, his shares went to Amelia, his wife, and through Amelia, Neil was in control of those shares now.
Similarly, he planned to kill Lucian and Lucian’s father after some time, letting Iris inherit their shares.
In this way, the sole ownership of Titan Crest Entertainment would be in Neil’s hands.
However, his plan was on the verge of collapsing after yesterday’s news.
His head hurt just thinking about it.
Solemnly, he looked at her daughter’s annoyed expression and shook his head in disappointment.
Eventually, he revealed: "Iris, Lucian has been arrested. Evidence against him is undeniable."
Iris’s eyes widened in shock and disbelief.
It was all too sudden.
Then, with a tired sigh, Neil explained everything in detail.
After hearing the whole situation, Iris clenched her fists, a frustrated expression hanging on her face.
She uttered through gritted teeth: "That fool! Instead of helping me, he is creating problems for the whole agency. Does he think with his penis?"
Neil sighed and leaned back on his chair, gazing at the ceiling for a while.
He then glanced at Iris and said, "Since this mess was created by your husband... you should be the one to clean it up."
Iris nodded in agreement, without showing any protest in her expression.
Although she felt wronged to be blamed for Lucian’s mistakes, she knew that there was no other choice.
She was the one who appointed him as the Head of the Acting Department, after all.
She had to take responsibility for her actions.
"I have a plan." Neil said calmly. "Listen carefully. I will take care of Linda and Sun News Television. I will not allow the news to air. You, on the other hand, will need to take care of that actress Lisa. Make her mouth shut. Offer her money, roles, and endorsements. If that doesn’t work, threaten her. Let her know the consequences of what will happen to her if she goes against Titan Crest Entertainment."
"There’s also that idol, Aren Frost, involved in the matter; however, he won’t be able to do anything if Lisa doesn’t want to pursue the case. Even if he releases the evidence, if Lisa denies everything, he will be powerless. So focus on Lisa. I will leave it to you to judge what to do to make her destroy the evidence and take back her complaint." Neil added.
Iris nodded confidently: "Yes, Father. I will not disappoint you."
"Alright. Leave and take care of it."
"Yes, Father."
Iris turned around and left, sitting in her luxury car shortly after.
Her bodyguards followed her car in SUVs.
She ordered her secretary: "Find out about Lisa Vern’s current location. I need to meet her."
"Yes, ma’am."
Her secretary made a few calls, and after a while, she informed her.
"She is shooting for her drama in the Phoenix Studios."
Iris nodded and ordered: "Take me there."
"Yes, ma’am." The secretary gestured to the bodyguard, who was sitting in the driving seat of the car, to drive to the said location.
Soon, the heavy gates of the mansion opened, a convoy of cars whizzing out.
