The sand burst apart behind him, the creature opening its fleshy mouth to swallow him. Kaiser rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding being eaten.

The creature slammed into him from the side, pushing him off balance. He regained his footing with a side-flip, grunting slightly.

’I need a plan. Fast.’

Furrowing his brows, he continued running while wishing he had wings. Suddenly, he gained a flash of inspiration.

As he ran past an ancient building remains, he controlled the shadows to slither towards him and manifest as large, bat-like wings.

The construction was rushed and crude. As soon as the darkness wings took shape, he attempted flight.

Although he hadn’t tried it before, he quickly got the hang of it. The wings flapped, and he was lifted from the ground.

’Phew... it worked.’

He flapped the wings several times, shifting his center of gravity in a way that lessened the burden on the wings.

As he flew above the ground, he looked down to check the creature. Surprisingly, there was no sign of the Evolved Horror. It was as if it had suddenly disappeared.

’Hm? Something isn’t—’

Boom!

The creature suddenly shot out from beneath the sand, aiming straight for him midair.

Kaiser’s eyes widened, and he immediately dodged to the side. However, because of his inexperience, his flight was disturbed, and he failed to escape its range

The creature’s gaping maw opened, then swallowed him whole.

It had just been two weeks into the holidays, and the first-year students were finally enjoying themselves. Most people were just regular kids who used to live a normal life.

However, their Awakening changed a lot. They hold the power to surpass human limits, and the responsibility of being an Awakened.

Still, they were still teenagers at heart. Their first session in the academy made them mature slightly.

The pressure of the sudden Special Evaluations, threat of expulsion upon failing an exam, and other factors influenced their mindset. Gradually, these group of teenagers were learning the life of an Awakened.

But all things considered, the semester break served as a needed breather for them.

On a sunny afternoon, a few students of Class-E were gathered at the swimming pool. The girls were clad in attractive, eye-catching swimsuits and bikinis, while the boys were only dressed in shorts.

"Ysabella, you really have a great figure. How did you do it?"

Kim said in astonishment, staring at Ysabella’s body.

The blonde girl was wearing a yellow bikini, with the top barely holding her large bosom. Her skin was smooth and glittery, catching the attention of the boys in the pool.

"O-oh." She blushed slightly. "I didn’t do anything special. It’s just... I had an early growth spurt."

Kim nodded, lowering her head to look at her own small mounds.

Sensing the girl’s dejection, Ysabella splashed water on her.

"Come on, Kim. Let us play. This pool is so relaxing!"

Kim immediately smiled back and splashed water back on Ysabella.

"You asked for it!"

At the edge of the pool, four boys sat with their legs dipped into the water.

"Yo... man. I can hardly breathe seeing Ysabella like this."

Jose admitted, a conflicted expression on his face.

Beside him, Logan and Eric remained silent, their gazes fixed on different girls.

Logan shifted his gaze to Ysabella, then immediately looked away.

"Don’t distract me, Jose. I’ve devoted myself to Miss Hazel."

"Miss? You’re hilarious." Eric chuckled, glancing at the black-haired girl.

She was dressed in a swimsuit that covered most of her body, leaving only her thighs and arms exposed. Even then, her curvy figure couldn’t be hidden behind that attire.

She was seated on a relaxation chair, wearing sunglasses and reading a magazine. Even in this playful environment, she remained solitary.

"What do you know? You both are only after the boobs." Logan snorted, elbowing Eric in the ribs.

The boy winced, but involuntarily glanced at the beautiful girl he had been eyeing.

It was Iruca from Class-A. She and a group of friends from her class had come to visit the pool, and were currently playing with the Class-E girls in the pool.

"Hey, Ariel. Between Iruca and Ysabella, who do you think has the bigger boobs?"

Jose suddenly asked, nudging the boy beside him.

Ariel blinked in surprise, then looked at the two girls. With a serious expression, he answered.

"Based on mass alone, Ysabella is bigger. But I predict that Iruca is heavier than her."

Hearing his seemingly logical prediction, Jose was stunned. "Heavier? Doesn’t that mean this Class-A girl is better?"

Ariel shrugged. "Depends on your preference."

While the boy wallowed in defeat, Ariel looked around. Only some people from the class were currently around. Liam and his girlfriend were on a date, leaving Kiera’s friends with no other choice but to join Ysabella at the pools.

Mordica was absent as usual, as she’d never join them in such a thing. Sebastian was also absent, claiming he had a date with a senior in the third-year.

A few others also gave excuses and didn’t show up. However, the most notable student absent was Kaiser.

Immediately the semester break began, he had mysteriously disappeared. After several days of not finding him, Instructor Rina informed them that he had left the academy to attend to urgent family matters.

People immediately understood, even sympathizing with him. Perhaps he had lost an important family member.

’I don’t think it’s that simple.’

Ariel thought seriously. Kaiser didn’t look like someone who’d be bothered by a family member’s death. Assassins rarely cared. He also didn’t look like he had received any sad news before disappearing.

The lack of sufficient data hindered his simulation ability, making him just as clueless as the others.

’I’m curious. What changes will have occurred to him upon return?’

Would he be stronger? Or have a psychological change? Or perhaps a change in behavior and demeanor?

Considering all of this, Ariel came to a simple conclusion.

’I need to improve my own strength. Else, he might become something I can’t handle any longer.’

If there was one thing Ariel despised, it was a variable he couldn’t control or even restrict.

"Oh? I didn’t expect the softies and the trash of the first-year to be gathered here."

A cold voice filled with mockery said, its owner entering the pool area with confident strides. Immediately everyone saw him, their expressions darkened.
