Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Sienna, Please Don’t Leave

Silas’s car was worth millions, with top-notch soundproofing.

Chloe’s voice was already loud enough, but it seemed Silas didn’t hear her at all.

He was still smiling as he directed Chloe.

The next second, his smile froze on his face, replaced by an expression of agonizing pain.

Bright red blood instantly soaked through his white shirt.

Chloe was so terrified she started crying uncontrollably. She immediately opened the car door and stumbled toward Silas.

But before she could take a few steps, she heard Silas’s cold voice.

"Don’t come closer. It’s dangerous."

Silas pressed his hand to the wound on his lower back, crimson blood covering his pale fingers.

A sinister smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

Just as the attacker raised the knife again to stab him, Silas grabbed his wrist in one swift motion.

He twisted hard; the attacker let out a scream of agony.

With a crisp ’clatter,’ the bloodied knife fell to the ground.

Chloe saw security guards patrolling not far away and shouted in that direction, "Security! Hurry and catch him!"

Hearing her shout, the security guards sped up, rushing over on their electric cart.

Within moments, they subdued the attacker.

One of them dialed emergency services.

Once the attacker was caught, Silas’s strength gave out and he collapsed to the ground.

Chloe rushed over and wrapped him in her arms.

She pressed her hand to his wound, slowing the bleeding as best she could.

Her voice trembled, "Silas, hold on. I’m taking you to the hospital now."

Silas struggled to lift his eyelids, "Chloe, don’t cry. I’m fine."

Chloe shook her head, sobbing, "Don’t talk now—save your strength. The ambulance will be here soon."

Silas’s face was pale, lips drained of color, eyes unfocused as he looked at Chloe.

"Chloe... As long as you’re not hurt."

The words stabbed at Chloe’s heart.

Tears fell, one after another, onto Silas’s face.

Whether she was Sienna or Chloe, Silas’s instinct was always to protect her.

Seeing Silas like this—how could she not feel heartbroken?

Forcing herself to hold it together, Chloe took out her phone and called her father.

The call connected quickly.

Chloe steadied her voice, "Dad, ask Mom to watch the kids, and you bring the medical kit downstairs. Silas is hurt."

Hearing this, Mr. North immediately looked over at Julian.

He got up with caution, found an excuse, and headed downstairs with the kit.

Seeing Silas collapsed in a pool of blood, Mr. North’s face turned deathly pale from anxiety.

"Chloe, what happened? How did he get hurt like this?"

"Someone tried to kill him."

Chloe took the medical kit and pulled out some gauze and hemostatic medicine.

"Dad, hold him steady for me while I stop the bleeding. He just donated 800cc of blood last week; he can’t lose more."

Following Chloe’s instructions, Mr. North braced Silas’s shoulders.

Chloe lifted Silas’s shirt, spraying the medicine without hesitation and packing the wound with gauze.

Thankfully, the blood flow slowed considerably.

Silas was sweating from the pain, breathing faint.

He gripped Chloe’s arm tight, biting his lip and saying, "Don’t worry, I’ll be okay. I’m not dying."

Hearing this, Chloe’s tears poured down again.

There was worry, heartbreak, and an unspoken agony.

Seeing Silas suffer like this, for one brief moment, Chloe wanted to call him ’brother.’

She wondered, if Silas knew she was Sienna, would his pain ease a little?

But if she spoke now, everything would change.

Her five years of escape would be for nothing.

Her son would’ve died on the battlefield for nothing.

As Chloe hesitated, the sound of an ambulance siren reached her ears.

She quickly looked up, waving frantically in that direction. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

The paramedics hopped off with a stretcher. "How did he get hurt?"

Chloe pulled herself together, adopting her professional tone.

"Knife wound, about two inches deep, lower back below the third rib. I applied hemostatic spray and packed the wound with gauze; the bleeding’s slowed."

The doctor checked and nodded, "You handled it well. Get him on the stretcher—straight to surgery."

Silas was loaded into the ambulance; Chloe followed close behind.

As they left, she instructed, "Dad, that man’s the culprit. The police will be here soon. Please stay and watch."

"Alright, take care of Silas."

Soon, Silas was wheeled into the operating room.

Though worried, Chloe steadied herself and called Lucy Rhodes.

"Lucy, your brother’s hurt—he’s at the hospital. Can you reach his assistant? Tell him to go to the police station and find out who’s really behind this."

That attacker was clearly after Silas. She had to find out the mastermind, or Silas would stay in danger.

Hearing the news, Lucy immediately ripped off her face mask.

Her voice urgent, "I’ll call right now, just wait."

About ten minutes later, Lucy hurried to the hospital.

"Chloe, how’s my brother?"

"He’s in surgery. The wound’s on his lower back—not life-threatening, no organs hurt."

Lucy’s eyes reddened with worry. "What’s going on with my brother lately? Is he cursed or something? Hospitalized one time after another."

Chloe felt guilty, "He had some drinks at my place and wasn’t as alert as usual, that’s how he got hurt. Lucy, don’t tell Grandpa Prescott yet. I’m worried he won’t be able to take it."

"I get it. And don’t blame yourself. But the housekeeper hasn’t recovered, the assistant’s still busy with company stuff, I’m looking after Julian’s grandpa—no one at home to care for Silas. Maybe we could get him a private nurse? But then, with his temper, he’ll probably refuse."

Hearing this, Chloe answered without hesitation, "The injury happened at my place—I’ll take care of him."

Lucy looked a bit embarrassed, "Okay, thank you so much."

Half an hour later, the ER doors opened.

Silas was wheeled out.

Chloe and Lucy rushed over: "Doctor, how is he?"

Doctor: "No vital organs injured. The wound’s stitched up. He’ll wake once the anesthesia wears off. Needs a week in the hospital—no heavy lifting during recovery."

"Got it. Thank you, doctor."

Lucy went to handle the inpatient paperwork, while Chloe stayed at Silas’s bedside to watch over him.

Looking at Silas’s deathly pale face, Chloe’s eyes brimmed with tears once more.

No matter how much love and hate there’d been between her and Silas, in her heart, he was always the big brother she admired most.

When she was most helpless, Silas had given her comfort and care.

She would never forget that, for the rest of her life.

Chloe picked up Silas’s hand and gently wiped away the bloodstains with a damp cloth.

But next second, her wrist was suddenly grabbed by Silas.

In a groggy haze, with a rough, pleading whisper, he said—

"Sienna, please don’t go. Okay?"
