Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 43: Jett Sterling Can Help
Feeling the warmth of Silas’s palm, Chloe Nash’s back stiffened.
She wanted to pull away immediately.
But Silas held on tightly, his deep, intense eyes fixed on her.
As if always trying to see the shadow of Sienna Paxton through her.
Amidst Chloe’s tension, Silas’s low voice came to her ear.
"Dr. Nash, don’t worry, I’ll find a way to help you."
Letting him help save her dad, wasn’t that like walking into the lion’s den?
Because of this case, they would inevitably have frequent contact.
Once he discovered the slightest clue, all her efforts would be in vain.
Chloe quickly withdrew her hand.
Shaking her head, she said, "No need to trouble Mr. Prescott, I’ll handle it myself."
Seeing her so tense, Silas chuckled softly: "Dr. Nash, you don’t even want to save your father just to avoid contact with me?"
"I’ll find a way myself. I trust that my dad wouldn’t tamper with the blueprints for money."
Silas said, "Your father drew the blueprints for that bridge, and the construction team worked according to the blueprints. Unless someone swapped the blueprints midway, this case, if to be investigated, needs to be traced back five years. If it’s a setup, the people involved might have already been moved by others. With your current ability, you can’t save your father."
Chloe bit her lip and said, "I’ll go home first to see what’s going on. I appreciate your kindness, Mr. Prescott. Thank you for bringing me back. I’ll head up now."
After speaking, she didn’t wait for Silas to respond and got out of the car directly, hurriedly pulling her luggage upstairs.
Lucy Rhodes was somewhat curious: "Brother, are you really not going to help Dr. Nash? This case involves high officials; she has no connections or power. How can she possibly get someone out?"
Silas’s eyes showed a coldness: "Didn’t you hear her say she doesn’t need help? Besides, she has her husband to assist her. What am I then?"
Hearing this, Lucy looked at him, somewhat surprised.
Why was there so much jealousy in her brother’s words?
Returning home, Chloe saw her mother sitting on the sofa crying.
She immediately rushed over, hugging her mother for comfort: "Mom, don’t worry, I’ll find a way to save dad."
Seeing her return, Mrs. Nash cried even louder.
"Chloe, your dad has always wanted to design a landmark structure to leave in this world. He finally got the qualification to design that bridge. How could he tamper with the blueprints for money? That’s ruining his reputation! Someone must be framing him."
Mrs. Nash cried to the point of breathlessness.
She had already lost her biological daughter and didn’t want to lose her beloved husband too.
Chloe felt her mother’s pain, helping wipe her tears while saying: "Mom, I’ll find a way to save dad. Don’t worry, if you fall ill from worry, what will I do alone? We must trust dad, trust our country’s laws, they won’t unjustly accuse a good person for no reason.
If it’s a setup, we’ll definitely find evidence. Trust me, Mom."
She spoke with great certainty, for now, her mother could only rely on her.
The real Chloe had sacrificed herself to save her; she absolutely couldn’t let anything happen to her parents again.
Chloe, having understood the situation, felt the case was as Silas described — the time span too long, involving too many people, making rescuing her father seem improbable.
She reached out to many, and the answers were all the same.
But someone suggested that in such a case, only the Prescott Family in Riverton and the Sterling Family in Varden could get someone out.
Silas Prescott and Jett Sterling were the two major leaders of the north and south.
Both in politics and business, they had vast connections.
Yet both had complicated emotional ties with her.
She didn’t want to involve either.
But besides them, no one could save her father.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Chloe quickly ran over to open the door, instantly seeing Jett Sterling standing urgently at the door.
"Chloe, I heard about Uncle’s situation. Don’t worry, I’ll find a way to save him."
Jett’s eyes carried complex emotions, both heartache for Chloe and concern for the situation.
Facing such an intense gaze, Chloe nervously avoided it.
She quickly invited Jett inside.
Compared to Silas, she was more inclined to seek his help.
Seeing Mrs. Nash’s sorrow, Jett immediately offered comfort.
"Auntie, don’t worry, I’ve already sent someone to investigate. I believe Uncle isn’t that kind of person."
Mrs. Nash, seeing Jett, seemed to see her daughter.
She cried even more sorrowfully.
Why did fate treat her this way, taking her beloved daughter and now involving her beloved husband.
She wiped her tears and said: "Young Sterling, I know you can help, but you and Chloe have broken up. I don’t want to trouble you, putting Chloe in a difficult position since she’s already married."
Hearing this, Jett smiled bitterly: "Auntie, don’t worry, I’m helping Uncle not for anything else, but because he was so kind to me back then. Every time I came here, he’d cook various dishes for me and drink with me. Even without Chloe, I respect him as an elder."
Hearing this, Mrs. Nash finally relaxed a bit.
She didn’t want to complicate Chloe’s emotions over saving Mr. Nash.
After comforting Mrs. Nash, Jett turned his gaze to Chloe.
His eyes brimming with unchecked concern.
"We can’t see Uncle now, only the lawyer can. I’ve arranged for someone to go in. There should be results soon. Don’t worry."
Chloe gratefully nodded: "Thank you."
Jett glanced at Chloe’s luggage, feeling a bittersweet pang.
If not for this matter, would Chloe have already left?
Would he, like the past five years, not see a trace of her again?
He stood up and tapped Chloe’s head: "Don’t feel pressured. I haven’t stooped to threatening you into being with me using Uncle’s life. Don’t think of me so poorly."
Hearing those words, Chloe felt a bit sad, a bit guilty.
She could feel Jett’s feelings for the real Chloe.
The ones waiting in place were not just Silas but also Jett. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Yet Jett would never see the Chloe he loved again.
The next day.
Jett took Chloe to see the lawyer.
The three sat down, and the lawyer got straight to the point.
"This case is indeed very complicated. There’s significant public pressure. If it weren’t for the public opinion, it might be easier to handle. Now, the whole country is watching this case. It’s hard to make a concession."
Chloe frowned: "Can we investigate the source of the public opinion? Maybe someone’s pushing it from there, deliberately making this a big deal."
The lawyer nodded in agreement: "Indeed, someone’s fanning the flames behind the public opinion. We need President Sterling to check which force it is, so we can address it specifically."
