Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 181: Nightmare
"The God of Mers once used to be an immortal God until he was banished from heaven. He was a close friend of the God of Death, Atlas, and both friends possessed divine powers. God Zephyr’s divine powers were not as strong as Atlas’s because he was a mixed-race child. But still, it is said that Atlas wanted to be the only person in the heavens who had divine powers and hence he plotted against our God and got him banished from heaven."
From Aleister’s memories.... the truth was different. Esme realized it. Marilyn confessed to having plotted against Zephyr for not stopping his friend from going after another woman who was Aleister’s mother.
Maybe the Norwell family did not get the whole information about the situation.
"Then the mer race originated as our God became a merman and soon found a worthy queen for us... But despite being banished from the heavens, he still had divine powers. Although not as strong and pure but with our abilities, those divine powers were passed to us as well. And the people with divine powers are second to none..."
Esme glanced at Marcus.
"You are curious why the Prince was easily defeated? It’s because he was born with a witch’s curse from his mother’s womb. His powers were impacted and severed in the process... While we can destroy a witch’s trap but I never thought it was possible to face Marilyn... not until I saw you doing that," It either meant that Esme was special or all of them could do it, "But what I am confident about is that I can destroy this illusion trap."
"Do it," Esme said, looking at the man trapped inside the fire inside the mirror.
"Will you..."
"I’ll go with you," Esme interrupted the man, "Wherever you want me to go."
Marcus looked at her deeply for a moment before he nodded at Lucian and Luciana.
Luciana stepped back from Esme.
The trio closed their eyes and focused on the mirrored wall.
A burst of power seeped into the wall and soon cracks started appearing on the mirror. A gust of wind grazed Esme’s hair only to be replaced by a huge tornado.
The bricks from the walls started falling and every closed their eyes as dust flew in the air.
Soon, the place regained its calm.
Esme opened her eyes and glanced at Duke Maverick who was lying unconscious on the ground.
She glanced at Rowan, "Take care of him."
"Princess," Rowan coughed blood, injured by Marcus’s earlier attack, "You don’t need to go anywhere in them..."
"I gave my word," Esme walked towards the middle of the room with weak footsteps. She squatted near Leo who was sitting quietly.
The pair of gold-colored eyes looked at her with tears.
Esme picked him up in her arms and kissed his forehead, "I will take him with me..."
"Impossible!" Lucian interrupted her before she could finish her words, "The origins of the beast are mysterious and we don’t want unwanted danger in our place."
"I am not asking. I am telling you that I will take him with me," Esme said, calmly.
In the end, the Norwell family gave in to Esme and let her take Leo with him.
Marcus Norwell told his children that he was doing it because they did not want to use sheer force on Esme. They were ordered to take her there in one piece.
But Luciana knew better of it. She knew her father well enough to know that he was scared, scared of Esme after he had witnessed the other side of her that none of them were familiar with.
And after Aleister died, there was something so eerie around the woman as if anyone could tick her off at any point and she will wreak vengeance on the world.
Esmeray Reis was making everyone wary of her presence.
’’Where do you want me to go?" 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
’’The full moon is out and we are going to the place where you belong,’’ Marcus Norwell snapped his finger and Rowan dropped to the ground beside Duke Maverick, ’’Both of them will not remember much about the events that transpired again.’’
’’Why...’’ Esme lowered her head, ’’Why did he disappear?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.
Even though she did not mention any name, it was not difficult to understand that she was talking about Aleister, ’’Maybe because he possesses divine powers..’’ Luciana answered in a soft voice.
’’He possessed, you mean,’’ Marcus corrected his daughter before looking at the mysterious princess, ’’He had divine powers but despite being a god’s child, he was human. For a human to possess divine powers, it must have been overwhelming for him. So, his body disappeared and his powers must have gone back to where they originated from. His father. The God of Death.’’
’’His body...? Don’t talk about him like that,’’ Esme coldly said, ’’Where are we going?" She repeated her question since he had not given her a proper answer yet.
’’To the sea,’’ Lucian stepped forward, ’’So that you can transform into your true self.’’
...
1 year later.
’I love you. Don’t hate me again.’
The woman sleeping on the round bed sat up in an instant, her eyes widening as her chest heaved up and down.
Tears streamed down her face and she pushed herself out of the bed before standing on the crystal floor. She wiped her tears, ’’Lucy...Lucy...!’’ She shouted, clutching her head tightly.
The door opened and Luciana ran inside, ’’Esme, why are you—"
’’It happened again,’’ Esme shook her head, wiping her tears again as she hugged Luciana.
’’A nightmare?"
’’A nightmare?" she repeated Luciana’s question, ’’Nightmares are supposed to scare us but... this makes me sad and desperate. It always did."
Luciana stroked Esme’s back, ’’It’s because of the fairytales you read when you were young. And now you are 22, almost about to turn 23 in a few months but you are still having these dreams...’’
