Endless World: The Rise of Leonard Lawson-Chapter 214: The Hunt
The lone figure ignored the surroundings and darted their eyes toward Claudia.
As the two of them locked their gaze, they were able to quickly confirm each other’s identity.
"Tsk, a traitor of the Assassin Syndicate." The lone figure hissed, their fist clenching tightly. They were displeased that a fellow assassin from the same organization would be targeting him.
In the meantime, Claudia was satisfied that she had finally found him.
Despite sensing Redflow’s hostility, she remained indifferent.
The two of them may be from the same affiliation. But there was no sense of camaraderie between them. Moreover, she couldn’t care less about sacrificing an unrelated person in exchange for her freedom.
"He’s Redflow," Claudia reported to Mirelle.
"You should be careful, though. His actual combat skills might not be better than yours, but his elusive movement speed is to be feared. There are also many hidden weapons under his sleeve—bandages." She warned sternly.
An assassin who could reach the platinum rank in the Assassin Syndicate should never be underestimated.
Mirelle paid note to her warning. She scrutinized the bandages wrapped around the lone fighter, identified as Redflow.
’Seems like there are really multiple foreign objects concealed underneath.’ She verified and confirmed Claudia’s warning.
Through her mana perception, she could see a large number of foreign objects.
These objects were quite small in size, but the lethal force she sensed gave her an ominous vibe.
While Mirelle was distracted at Redflow’s emergence, Ted, who had been watching from the side, finally made his move.
He stood up from his seat and lunged toward Mirelle with a hidden dagger.
"What are you doing?" Claudia raised her voice and quickly alerted the nearby audience.
At the same time, Mirelle was about to cast a barrier to block the attack, only to pause. Her eyes widened in disbelief when she recognized that the hidden dagger was similar to the ones that landed on the deceased Irene.
’Was it not a relic?’ Mirelle’s body trembled slightly.
It was difficult to believe that a similar relic could appear. After all, most relics are one-of-a-kind and rarely have any duplicates unless they were made or formed at a similar time.
Although unsure of the weapon, Mirelle quickly grabbed Claudia’s hand and utilized wind element magic to shift her position.
Swoosh!
Ted’s attack narrowly missed the targets. ’Damn it, how did she react this quickly?’
His attack caught everyone by surprise in the Arena Sector. It was completely unheard of for someone to dare to make a move toward the audience.
The Arena Sector was overseen by the three Faction Leaders. To break the rules in the Arena Sector was equivalent to challenging the three Faction Leaders’ authority.
"Someone really dared to attack a guest?"
"My goodness... things are about to turn lively."
"I know, right. I wondered what these two women’s identities were to trigger such killing intent."
Contrary to one’s expectation, the crowd didn’t panic or flee the scene.
Instead, they became more intrigued and wished to stay longer to watch the drama.
Some even began to bet among themselves who would win privately.
Anyone who ventured to the underground slum wasn’t some weak-willed or timid individual. On the off chance that there were some of them, they were most likely accompanied by experienced people in the slum.
Just when the audience thought things couldn’t get any more interesting, the rising fighter on the stage suddenly propped themselves forward. Their target was obvious to the audience.
"Oho, what is this change of development?"
"A sudden tag-team fight??!"
Crazed, the audience cheered and whistled proudly.
Amidst the cheering from the audience, Mirelle’s perception remained focused on the unknown attacker and Redflow.
Soon, a sharp whir echoed—
SHK!
Three thin needles shot from beneath Redflow’s bandages, aimed directly at Claudia’s throat.
"Hah, do I really look that easy?" Claudia clicked her tongue.
She twisted sideways, avoiding the lethal trajectory, and retaliated with a sweeping kick toward the approaching Ted.
In response, Ted slid back effortlessly, his movements smooth and fluid. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"You didn’t tell me Redflow works with a partner." Mirelle’s back was against Claudia’s.
"I’ve never heard of Redflow working with anyone before, either." Claudia frowned.
The Assassin Syndicate was always filled with individuals who worked alone. Rarely would there be any assassins working together with another assassin, let alone some stranger.
After all, most assassins were people with their own livelihood outside the assassination circle. If not, why would anyone choose to become one?
Only a few minorities didn’t have any livelihood outside, such as her.
"I can’t take both on in this narrow space." Mirelle calmly said. Redflow’s long-range style and Ted’s close combat made it difficult for her to confront them.
To be more specific, Mirelle was concerned about the weapons that Ted and Redflow possessed.
A weapon capable of ignoring magic shields and piercing through them was not something to be underestimated.
"I’ll handle Redflow," Claudia said and dashed ahead. As fellow assassins, it was much easier for her to deal with him.
"Got it!" Mirelle blasted a few spells outward and caused a rift in the seatings.
The audience reacted swiftly to defend themselves from being collateral damage. They smoothly shifted their position for a better viewing angle.
"Hey, announcer, start commentating on the fight already!"
"Yeah, we’ve paid good money to see a show. Without the commentary, how can we be excited?"
As the crowd called out to the announcer, the latter jolted awake.
"Right away!" The announcer smiled widely and floated to the sky, their hands holding a magical, enhancing microphone.
"Today’s battle is a real treat! On one side, we have the rising new fighter and Ted battling against two beauties!"
In the blink of an eye, what was supposed to be a dangerous ambush incident became nothing more than an unexpected play for the crowd.
To energize the event, the announcer even boldly named this incident "The Hunt."
"The Hunt involved a fierce battle between the audience and fighters. In the future, we will have more surprises like this, so do continue to patronize our Arena Sector~"
