Endless World: The Rise of Leonard Lawson-Chapter 213: Redflow
Cassandra’s expression turned complicated at the mention of an Assassin.
’Redflow... isn’t that the codename for the platinum rank assassin in the Assassin Syndicate?’ She frowned a bit. She soon connected this information to the news that Osbert relayed earlier.
’Could it be that those two suspicious figures were also after Redflow?’
Although she rarely concerned herself with these types of affairs, she was still informed of a new rising fighter emerging in the Arena Sector.
If she calculated the time carefully, then their emergence just so happened to align with Leonard’s sudden appearance.
She seriously doubted a gold-ranked merchant would come all the way here to do business.
After all, businesses in the slum were secluded from those on the surface level.
"I do know of the name and have some clues about this person," Cassandra replied and revealed what she knew. There was no reason for her to be covering up someone’s ass, especially when she had no relationship with them whatsoever. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Moreover, this person had caused a conflict between them and the Crown Prince.
Cassandra would be damned if she were to enable such a culprit to continue to lure in an unprecedented amount of danger into her territory.
"A new fighter and two foreign faces in the Arena Sector, eh?" Leonard was satisfied with the answer.
The fact that a man wanted to relay some information for benefits but ended up being killed was not something he cared about.
They wanted to harm others for their promotion’s sake, so they should have also prepared for death themselves.
Not to mention, he had a feeling that these two people mentioned were potentially Mirelle and Claudia.
He hadn’t forgiven them, but he certainly hoped these two could succeed in their task to capture Redflow. By comparison, Leonard’s hatred toward Redflow was far greater than what Mirelle did behind his back.
"Alright, back to your turn." Leonard chuckled and gestured for her to raise her final question.
"Forget it. I have no interest in dabbling further in this muddy water." Cassandra shook her head and refused the right to ask a question. As long as these newcomers weren’t coming at her or her Faction, she couldn’t be bothered.
Her objective was to learn whether Ellie would be in safe hands or not. Now that it was resolved, she might as well excuse herself.
"If you feel like owing me, then I hope you won’t point the spear at my Snake Faction—"
Before Cassandra could finish her word, a loud explosion suddenly erupted.
KABOOM!!!
The ground beneath them trembled heavily, causing her to stagger and lose balance.
Cassandra gasped a bit and found herself leaning on Leonard’s arm to remain standing.
Despite the close proximity between them and the somewhat intimate act, Leonard’s attention was focused on the source of the explosion.
"That place is..."
He frowned and tried to recall the map layout he had seen earlier to understand where the explosion came from.
"That place is where the Arena Sector is located." Cassandra freed herself from his grasp and explained. "It seems like Osbert’s words weren’t false. Trouble did occur."
"Were you responsible for this?"
"Nope, I’ve only sent my people to investigate and not engage with the suspicious people. Only an impulsive and rash leader would strike before understanding the situation."
Leonard nodded in agreement. Her words had multiple layers of implications.
Firstly, she prioritized information.
Secondly, she wanted to express her stance clearly to him.
Lastly, she informed him that she was no easy woman to deal with.
Overall, she might have cleared his doubts, but that didn’t mean he could ride over her head.
So what if you’re from the Crown Prince’s Faction?
This was her territory and base to rule!
"My people should have some information for me soon regarding the explosion. But I must warn you. The leaders from the Tiger and Bear Faction aren’t exactly the reasonable and talkative type." Cassandra gave her last bit of generosity to him.
She then returned to Ellie’s table to reassure her that everything was well.
The nearby patrol guards also seemed to rush over to their side to secure the perimeter.
’The Tiger and Bear Faction Leaders, eh. These two better not be the ones to shelter Redflow.’ Leonard squinted his eyes slightly. What he desired to know had been achieved.
The reason why Ellie was able to remain unscathed and not become a target was mostly due to Cassandra’s presence.
And Cassandra isn’t his enemy because she had no involvement with Redflow.
Since the magic contract remained dormant throughout their truth exchange, Leonard could eliminate her as a suspect or a target to be silenced.
As for the blood on her hands, he knew very well that it was a necessity to survive in the slum. Had it been him who was forced to live in this kind of environment, then the blood on his hands might not be inferior to Cassandra’s.
His eyes soon shifted to the site of the explosion and commotion.
"Not my problem." He lost interest and returned to Ellie’s table.
...
Ten minutes earlier
Underground Slum, Arena Sector
"Do you think that person is suspicious of us?" Mirelle focused her attention on the arena while speaking to Claudia in a low tone.
"If I’m not wrong, he should be someone with above-average intuitiveness about people," Claudia commented. "Such people aren’t uncommon in the Assassin Syndicate."
"Then does that mean we’re exposed?" Mirelle had remembered one of their companions had left the arena stage earlier. Initially, she didn’t think much about it because there were people coming and leaving from time to time.
However, she could subtly discern that the person’s gaze was on them more frequently. What truly made her uncomfortable was the person’s lecherous behavior. It was as if he couldn’t wait to suppress them and ravage them under him.
Claudia was about to give her input when the stage announcer signaled the start of the fight.
With the chained gate lifting up, some dust was created, shrouding a lone figure covered in white bandages.
Claudia narrowed her eyes as she sensed a dreadful pressure emitted from the fighter. "Finally found you... Redflow."
