Endless Debt-Chapter 832 - 272: Unstoppable (6)
The acidic blood corroded the entire battlefield, and even the Hunters had to retreat into the cabins. The sound of blood meeting metal sizzled in everyone’s ears.
The leading Hunter took a deep breath, clenching his black Blade. Staring at the giant lotus that continued to spray blood, he muttered to himself, "He’s in trouble."
The scarlet tendrils changed direction. Taking advantage of the pause created by the acidic blood, they started to sweep away the crawling little bug. Seeing this, the Hunter pondered for a moment and stepped into the blood rain.
Bologue drew closer to the core, and on this arduous path, he began to reflect. Now he was covered in wounds, some so deep they reached the bone. Though under the Blessing’s protection, this would have been trivial for Bologue, now if he falls, he can’t rejoin the battle until reality’s fracture concludes.
Now the core had expelled all its ichor, this was his only chance. If it accumulated its ichor again, it would become an acid pool, and diving into it, he might be corroded into mush before he could cut down the giant lotus.
"Asmodeus, you’re going to lose."
Encouraging himself, Bologue thought of the devil losing to a mortal, reigniting his strong motivation.
Stepping onto the overlapping petals, Bologue gradually delved deeper. The slight fluttering generated overwhelming gusts, but fortunately, being close enough, it couldn’t stop him.
A scarlet tint slowly surfaced in his eyes, becoming clearer and more distinct,
Bologue decided to gamble. For this crazy story, Ewen had staked his life, so he had no reason to hesitate. He could already see the roots of the scarlet tendrils. They were like a scarlet monolith, with petals enclosing them, gradually shrinking, with light red inner walls secreting drops of ichor, forming a shallow pool below.
The tendrils sensed Bologue’s approach, launching toward him like a frenzy of snakes. Being so close, Bologue tore off a petal above him, letting the scarlet rain strike him with heart-wrenching pain.
Wraith Bite cleaved through the first arriving tendril as Bologue both struck and dodged, a shadowy lightning bolt. Countless tendrils almost entirely encircled him, becoming a layered scarlet cage.
Even as quickly as Bologue wielded his sword, he couldn’t sever all the tendrils, let alone the acidic blood causing his body to be covered in wounds. Soon, a tendril breached his defense, biting off a chunk of flesh from his thigh.
At the same time, Bologue stepped on the piled petals, reaching the core. Summoning all his strength, he leapt high, taking a deep breath, roaring at the giant lotus.
The giant lotus responded to the challenger. A despairing scarlet wall of countless entangled tendrils blocked Bologue’s path, each layer intertwining, a barrier wall and a wave of death.
His vision was filled with scarlet, nothing else visible.
Bologue despairingly realized he couldn’t break through this layer of defense. He would only be torn to pieces by the endless tendrils.
The wind carried a high-pitched buzzing, piercing and continuous, a siren echo in Bologue’s mind. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Bologue recognized the sound, the lethal yet elegant sound that welled up when swinging his sword through the wind at high speed.
The sound neared, and suddenly a thin black line extended on the scarlet wall. Moments later, scarlet blood erupted and scattered along the black line’s path, and the once-indestructible scarlet wall began to collapse.
Among the scattered chunks of flesh, Bologue saw the one who cut down the scarlet wall. The speed was so great; it left only a blur in Bologue’s eye, but he recognized the sharp sword, exceedingly similar to the one in his own hand, even the same.
The Hunter turned, waving the Blade in a semicircle, releasing it like throwing Thunder. The dark trail passed before Bologue, completely severing the few interwoven tendrils, fully exposing the core to Bologue.
He shouted to Bologue, "Unstoppable!"
The path ahead was clear.
The Hunter from the story saved the Hunter from reality, and now, the Hunter from reality would end this mad tale.
Bologue plunged into the scarlet Abyss.
The frenzied tendrils suddenly halted, frantically withdrawing to the core. The thousands of blooming petals rapidly contracted, enveloping the giant lotus layer by layer, collapsing, almost shrinking back into the black egg.
Desperate wails echoed from within the core, like the cries of thousands of souls.
Overwhelming sorrow resounded across the battlefield.
The recoiled giant lotus bloomed again swiftly, but as it burst forth, every petal withered rapidly, launching a dying counterattack, sweeping chaotic gusts across the land, tossing corpses and blood, yet unable to harm anyone this time.
The giant lotus began to decay, wilting, disintegrating into fine dust as if it had never existed. As the enveloping petals vanished, the orange-red sea of flowers reemerged, each daisy glowing with a brilliant halo, as if burning with fire.
Bologue stood in the flower sea, seconds later, a tidal wave of cheers echoed from the direction of Dawn.
