Endless Debt-Chapter 831 - 272: Unstoppable_5
The thunderous sound of artillery roared. After surviving the first round of attacks, the Hunters regained their composure. The train artillery fired again, setting the massive pure white petals ablaze with blood-colored flames, brightening the night once more. A new round of thermite was launched into the sky, like stars falling, carving out straight Light Spears.
"I’ll kill it."
Bologue muttered as he emerged from the crater. He took a deep breath, then held it as he sprinted wildly. The gigantic petals swayed endlessly, and waves of airflow struck Bologue’s body, trying to topple him, but he held his ground.
The rejuvenated Hunters posed a greater threat to the giant lotus. Under continuous artillery fire and thermite, the petals facing the Hunters began to burn and wither, prompting the lotus to direct more power to that side. Its tendrils swept towards the armed carriages of the Dawn, leaving terrifying dents on the thickened armor.
Some train artillery pieces were destroyed by it, while others fired as the tendrils approached, crushing them with deadly shells and returning blood to the giant lotus.
While sprinting, Bologue noticed a petal slowly drooping, with its end not far from the ground, making it possible for him to leap onto it. Just before he jumped, the earth beneath him cracked open, and a crimson tendril shot up from the ground.
Storm Feather emerged from the night sky, precisely severing the tendril and splashing blood everywhere. Bologue couldn’t see Palmer’s position but could imagine him giving a thumbs-up gesture.
As he stepped on the petal, the sensation was strange, as if the surface were coated with a layer of thick mucus. Bologue dared not breathe, fearing the onset of that dizzying feeling again, and had to endure the discomfort and push forward.
The giant lotus seemed to sense Bologue’s approach, redirecting some of the tendrils attacking the Hunters towards him. But this time, Wraith Bite precisely chopped them down, as easily as severing flying insects.
Even after being cut, the tendrils retained strong Life Force, writhing violently on the mucus-covered surface like snakes. Blood flowed everywhere, etching the route of Bologue’s advance onto the pure white petals.
He was like an approaching storm, raising fragments of flesh and blood with each swing of his sword. Soon, the abnormality caught the Hunters’ attention. One standing atop a carriage noticed the tendrils changing their attack direction and vaguely saw Bologue striding boldly forward.
Bologue intended to pierce the flower core.
A crazy idea rose in a Hunter’s mind. Without any communication, he seemed to understand Bologue’s actions. He was shocked by Bologue’s mad idea and then became admiring.
"Concentrate firepower!" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
The Hunter shouted as he drew his sword. It was a long, black Blade, as narrow as a spike, akin to another Wraith Bite.
"Help that madman!"
The Hunter yelled, wondering who that guy climbing the petal was, as clearly, there was no such person aboard the Dawn.
The train artillery re-aimed, and swathes of thermite were concentrated and launched. The firepower converged, resembling the breath of a dragon, fiery enough to melt steel, and unleashed wantonly.
The petal facing the brunt of the attack quickly withered. The ground started to tremble slightly, countless cracks appeared, many roots broke through the earth, entangling the heavy carriages, and some attacked the Hunters. After the initial skirmish, the Hunters became adept at handling these, and the giant lotus’s current offensive was ineffective, while the Hunters achieved significant victories.
The raging flames didn’t just burn through the massive petals but gradually spread to the sizable stem. The entire giant lotus was being dragged into a sea of flames by the Hunters.
Concentrating firepower rapidly depleted their ammunition, but severely wounded the giant lotus in a short time. It repeatedly flapped its petals, stirring up gales while crimson tendrils also surged towards the Hunters. Compared to these groups of Hunters, Bologue seemed less significant.
Bologue continued his wild sprint forward. As he went deeper into the giant lotus, the mucus on the petals grew thicker. With each step, his shoe soles produced a large swath of stringy mucus, like many people grasping your body, forcing you to drag them forward with effort.
From ahead came ripples of tremors. At the end of the tendrils, within the crimson flower core, it seemed that tons of blood plasma were churning, with the giant lotus brewing a deadly attack. In the next moment, as if a volcano erupted, thousands of tons of blood plasma were thrown high from the flower core. Seconds later, a crimson downpour hit the earth.
With no shelter around him, when the first raindrop landed on Bologue’s face, piercing pain spread through him. His skin began to ulcerate, the dermis layer corroded through, faint white bones visible, the wounds fizzing, with white smoke rising.
The blood was like a strong acid. Before more raindrops could drench him, he bent down to cut off a large piece of petal, using it as an umbrella over his head. The bizarre mucus could partly resist the blood, but the petal only protected Bologue’s torso.
The ends of Bologue’s limbs, and scattered parts of his body, suffered corrosion. Cloth burned through, flesh corroded, and the hand holding the sword was covered in scars. His whole body emitted bursts of white steam, like an overloaded machine spilling clouds of smoke.
