Chapter 250: Chapter 259: Strangeness

"I’ve seen her a few times." Daniel Harris said. If once is a coincidence, twice a happenstance, and three times a certainty, what about the fourth or fifth time... and more? What should those be called?

What started as a seemingly insignificant screenwriter gradually caught his attention, unknowingly stirring unusual emotions within him.

These were feelings he’d never had before.

Daniel spoke calmly, but Grace Yowell was listening with her heart in her throat.

Mabel Quinn had already met Daniel several times! And quite a few times at that! Yet, judging by the current situation, neither Daniel nor Mabel seemed to have realized anything.

Grace was anxious, but her expression remained the same as usual, "Mabel and I, when we were kids... uh, we spent some time together, childhood friends, you could say. Are you really planning to let Mabel play the role of Audrey?"

Daniel let out a light hum but said nothing.

"Mabel is just a screenwriter. Although her acting just now was okay, being a real actress would be tough for her to handle that role." But she only mentioned it briefly, not daring to say more, afraid that speaking too much might actually make Mabel attract more attention from Daniel.

Mabel returned to the temporary lounge near the filming site. Regular crew members like her naturally wouldn’t have a private lounge like the star actors.

The crew management came over and said that she had nothing more to do today and could go home early.

That worked just fine for her, so Mabel nodded. Before leaving, the crew manager patted her shoulder and said, "Young Master Daniel was just saying some things on a whim, don’t take them seriously."

He was referring, of course, to Daniel’s earlier suggestion that she play the second female lead.

"I know," Mabel replied.

Only then did the crew manager leave, satisfied.

Mabel gathered her things, and as she stepped out of the lounge, she saw a man in black approaching and blocking her path, "Miss Quinn, Mr. Harris wants to see you."

Mabel recognized him as one of the two men in black who had been following Daniel Harris earlier.

Pressing her lips together, she followed him to the doorstep of a room. The man gestured for her to enter, so Mabel pushed open the door and walked inside. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

Inside the room, Daniel was seated on the sofa, his posture elegant with his usual nonchalance on his face.

"Have a seat." He smiled slightly, pointing to a seat beside him.

"No need. I wonder what Mr. Harris wants to see me about?" Mabel said. Her attitude was polite yet distant, a stark contrast to how they interacted before.

Daniel frowned slightly, "Is it unacceptable to see you without a reason?"

"I’m Mr. Harris’s employee; of course, you can meet me anytime you want," she replied, maintaining an infuriatingly polite demeanor.

Daniel’s frown deepened, and after a while, he said, "I received your drawing. If you’re still bothered about that day, I acted out of urgency then..."

"It was my fault that day; I stepped on the drawing. What I mind isn’t that. I used to think we could somehow be considered friends, but now I realize I was naïve." Mabel said.

Daniel stood up, "It’s just a change of name; is it really that important?"
