Chapter 85: God’s Blessing - Mysterious Transformation

Raenir’s gaze turned softer now, looking at Jonan. From now on, he would consider Jonan his benefactor; he himself did not understand much about the ’Sunstone Piercer’, but he was sure the old man of the tribe might satiate his curiosity.

As they watched, the spear pulsed once more, and a radiant beam of golden-orange light surged out of it, it was blindingly radiating.

And in an instant, it covered Jonan from head to toe.

He was frozen now, caught in its grasp, the light started to burn inside him, yet it did not harm him, its radiance was now flowing like water all over the insides of his body, wherever it flowed, it started to clear his impurities, it started to heal every corner of his body.

And he could feel his physique strengthening, his muscles were burned and rebuilt, making them far sturdier than before.

Whereas the chief was a bit astonished, his thoughts raced. Jonan was only supposed to receive a blessing after the trial. And even then, there were grades for the blessings one is granted. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

Raenir remembered that there were only four grades of blessing one could receive. The ’Faint Glow’ was for the common hunters, who were at the lowest rank; their tasks involved hunting common and weaker beasts.

The ’Dim Glow’ is for those who have a bit of talent; they can scout, surveil, and also hunt middle-grade beasts in the lands beyond their home.

And the ones who received the ’Warm Glow’, they would become elders and leaders in the colony; their power was unfathomable, they could easily hunt high-grade beasts, and also decimate an entire group of hunters.

And the last one would be the ’Vibrant Glow’, anyone who receives it has the highest authority in the tribe, they are instantly groomed to be the leaders of that colony, the chief Raenir himself received this blessing, even his son received the same.

But what Raenir saw in front of him was beyond even that.

The chief’s face paled as the intensity of the light bore down on Jonan. It was like staring into the sun itself. He could barely keep his eyes open against the blinding radiance.

"This... this shouldn’t exist," the chief whispered. "I have never heard about a blessing that surpasses the ’Vibrant Glow’, is it because he is an outsider, or is it because he woke up our god, the ’Sunstone Piercer’, or is it both?"

Raenir was confused, but he kept watching, and he did not want to disturb Jonan, while he was getting blessed by their god, he also kept his watch on Jonan, afraid of any mishaps that might occur.

It was within the cocoon of light that Jonan started to feel his body shifting. His muscles thickened, his bones strengthening, his wounds old and new were seared away, reduced to ash by the purity of the blessing.

He saw two dark spots within his body, near his heart, that resisted the light. They remained untouched, ominous and dormant, the light could not do anything to them, so it changed its direction.

It then went for his blood, and there were more changes that began to take place; his blood had a crystalline attribute present mainly, but the light bypassed it and started to burn and refine his blood, as if it were looking for something.

It was then that, with the light’s incessant burning that a small figure of a fiery flaming bird could be seen, and with it, more fiery power started to gush out of Jonan’s blood.

It surged like fire catching oil, rushing through his veins with incandescent heat. He sensed two distinct forces within his blood, one crystalline and cold, the other a fiery bird swimming in an endless ocean of flame.

The forces clashed, then intertwined, and now his blood contained both the crystalline attribute and the flaming attribute, albeit it was lesser, far lesser than the crystalline one, but it was there, and the light was also at its limit.

After which the light converged, and started to gather below his heart, forming a whirlpool of light, it twisted, it started to be condensed, its shape itself was shifting into a multitude of things.

After some time, it started forming the shape of an ordinary spear, only its outline was present below Jonan’s heart; he could not understand its meaning.

Jonan stared at it, bewildered, and thought to himself, "What... what is this? What is a spear doing in there?"

And then, just as swiftly as the outline of the spear had formed, it started merging into his flesh, his eyes turned moist, from the unbearable pain he was experiencing.

He could feel his very essence as though it were being hollowed out, replaced, and reformed by unseen hands.

He wanted to scream, but his body and spirit were paralyzed without any motion.

And in the darkening haze of his mind, multiple thoughts echoed in his mind,

"Just what is this blessing? There are so many changes that he could notice in himself, form what he was told by the chief, that the blessings mainly increases ones inborn talent, what will happen if my talents increase, and which talents of his are increased, he was curious to know and check it out, but this pain is something else, I can understand others, but what is it with that fiery form of a bird in my blood, and that outline of a spear below my chest."

While these were given to him by the blessing, he was also curious about the two dark spots that were already present beside his heart from before; just what were they?

He felt that he had to check it when he was alone.

For now, he could only wait for the light to recede, and then he could check his changes.

The chief’s eyes widened when he saw him.

Jonan had changed.

He looked taller and more muscular than before, but of course, he was not comparable in muscle mass to the members of his tribe.

His once lean frame was filled out, his muscles were more defined but not bulky. His skin shone with a healthy sheen, and his features sharpened into something striking.

His hair had grown longer, the ends were tinged with red as if touched by fire, and his eyes...they were now different, entirely different.

Jonan’s eyes had now turned Violet, they looked mystical and breathtaking, and at the same time, they were hypnotic.
