Chapter 73: Another rat from the Upper Realms who dares to soil my sanctuary

On Yi Lan’s side...

< Law: Decree of the Judge’s Submission >

An invisible shockwave crashed down on Yi Lan. It was not a physical attack, but a pressure on her very soul, aiming to force her to kneel before the authority of the Dao.

As a creature of the Origins, her essence had been born even before these laws were engraved into reality.

"Your authority is nothing but a joke in front of my desire to protect my beloved..." she spat.

She waved her right hand, and her jade mirror shone with a malicious pink glow.

< Law: Mirrors of Obsessional Illusion >

Instantly, hundreds of translucent glass shards materialized in the air, swirling around the three Overlords. The reflections did not show reality, but the darkest and most buried desires of the three men. For a fraction of a second, their concentration wavered, trapped by the illusion.

Taking advantage of this opening, Yi Lan leaped forward with predatory agility. Her nine tails suddenly lengthened, transforming into devastating Qi whips.

< Fox Arts: Embrace of the Nine Heavenly Tails >

The first Overlord, Elder Wei, managed to break the illusion just in time to invoke his defense.

< Arts: Winter Blaze of Heavenly Will >

Scarlet flames and ice intertwined to form a shield, but the impact of one of Yi Lan’s tails was so brutal that the shield cracked. The Overlord was thrown backward, his feet plowing the ground for several meters. The two other Overlords attacked from the flanks, their swords of pure light slicing through the air with precision.

The fight became tough. Yi Lan was forced to restrict her Demigod power so as not to break the spatial structure of this lower world, which gave the Overlords a chance to compete.

She dodged the light blades with aerial pirouettes, her movements nothing more than a pink and white blur. One blade grazed her shoulder, tearing the silk of her robe and revealing a thin line of scarlet blood.

Yi Lan thought about how embarrassed she would be if BaiShe saw her in difficulty... and her fury exploded. She accepted no weakness in front of her beloved. Her Qi suddenly became dark, saturated with a murderous intention so pure that it became tangible.

She deployed her nine tails to their maximum, each now measuring several meters. The air became suffocating, saturated with an aphrodisiac scent so powerful that the Overlords felt their own meridians numb, their blood boiling with contradictory desires.

< Arts: Abyss of Broken Mirrors >

The mirror shards multiplied by the thousands, creating a perfect sphere that imprisoned the three Overlords. Inside, time and space no longer applied. Every movement of the experts was countered by their own reflections.

One of them released the entirety of his Qi in a circular explosion. But Yi Lan’s tails intercepted the energy, absorbing it before sending it back with double force. One tail wrapped around his arm and ripped it clean off at the shoulder.

A tearing scream of pain echoed through the ruins, immediately muffled by the fox girl’s laughter. Blood gushed out in a macabre fountain, staining the white columns.

A binary beam of light shot from one Overlord’s palms, aiming straight at Yi Lan’s heart.

The attack was fast, capable of erasing any trace of demonic Qi. But Yi Lan was not a simple demon. She was an Origin.

She did not move. She used her central tail to intercept the beam. The collision created a shockwave that razed the surrounding forest for hundreds of kilometers, reducing the trees to dust. The divine light shattered against the fox girl’s Qi.

"Is that all the Dao Temple has to offer?" she mocked.

In a flash, she was upon them. Her hands, once delicate, had become Qi claws. She plunged her fingers directly into the Overlord’s thorax, piercing through muscles and bones to close her hand around his Dantian. She ripped it out brutally, leaving the old man to collapse.

< Prison of Illusion >

She used her law to fragment the space around him. The mirrors broke the spatial coordinates, and the last Overlord in the distance reappeared in the center of the clearing, right in front of her.

"How is this possible!?"

She used her nine tails to completely immobilize him, lifting him into the air. He struggled, his face twisted in terror. Yi Lan brought her face close to his, her purple eyes shining with mad obsession.

"Your essence will serve to stabilize my power... rejoice, for you will become part of me."

She opened the palm of her hand, and a pink energy vortex began to suck the vitality through the Overlord’s Lust. His muscles withered, his skin turned gray and dry, until only an empty shell remained that fell into dust under the effect of the wind. She was no different from a succubus who drains vitality. It was one of the reasons why she was so insatiable in bed and even BaiShe had paid the price.

*Golden Jade Lake Sanctuary.*

The air within the southern ruins was heavy, impregnated with stagnant humidity and ancient Qi...

BaiShe walked with his hands behind his back, adopting that nonchalant and haughty posture that was customary for him.

’So this is where the chosen of heaven decided to hide...,’ he thought with a slight smile.

He entered the cavity alone, crossing the spiritual barriers.

Inside, the scene was grandiose. The cavern was vast, its walls encrusted with spiritual crystals that bathed the space in an azure light.

At the center stood the Golden Jade Lake, a basin of liquefied Qi whose golden vapors rose in regular spirals, saturating the atmosphere with a stifling purity.

Huojin stood there, at the edge of the water, his Law Master aura radiating with divine intensity. His immaculate white hair shone under the glow of the crystals, and the Yin-Yang symbol on his forehead pulsed with a black and white glow.

Sensing the intrusion, he opened his heterochromatic eyes, one white and the other black, and fixed the newcomer.

"Another rat from the Upper Realms who dares to soil my sanctuary?" began Huojin, interrupting his soul connection with the golden jade lake.

"Was it you? Xuan BaiShe... What are you doing here? I thought I told you to get lost?"

BaiShe stopped about ten meters away, remaining unfazed by the growing spiritual pressure.

"Lord Huojin... or should I say, Lord Executor?" replied BaiShe in a honeyed tone, tilting his head slightly with courtesy.

"This humble scholar is honored to meet and protect the one chosen by the Dao to restore balance. Since the Holy Templar is busy, he asked me to come and protect you during your stay here."
