Chapter 168: Bad Omen

The third card is a Rare card, showing a picture of a staff.

---

[Staff of Pure Healing]

Rarity: Rare

Type: Weapon

Level: 1 / 10

Stats:

INT: +40

Resistance to Darkness: +20%

A staff made from mysterious wood filled with pure mana.

Skills:

1. Healing Light (Active)

Releases a gentle light that heals allies within the area of effect.

2. Skill unlocks at Weapon Level 5

3. Skill unlocks at Weapon Level 10

---

"A magic staff?" I muttered.

It actually has pretty good stats and skills. But it’s really meant for a pure support class. When I fight with Bob and Linus, I do act as support sometimes, but not a full support. I’m more of a hybrid, somewhere between support, marksman, and mage.

I stored it in the inventory first. Maybe it’ll be useful later.

Next card, another blue color. This pack is actually nice so far. It worth every penny.

---

[Double Jump]

Rarity: Rare

Type: Passive Skill

Allows the user to jump while in mid-air.

---

"Wow. This is amazing, Bob. With this, we’ll have no more problem reaching high places," I said. One of my biggest issues after coming to this world is mobility. Some terrain is simply not accessible for normal people. With this skill, that problem is finally solved.

And besides that, it can help us maneuver during battle, making us more flexible and agile.

"I already have Redwing Disciple, so this skill doesn’t change much for me," Bob said casually.

"Yeah, I totally forgot about that."

I exhaled slowly. So far, the cards we pulled were pretty good, but nothing overpowered. I was really hoping this last one would be a great one.

I slowly turned the final card, and a gold shimmer greeted my eyes. A Super Rare!

I flipped it fully. The illustration showed a prismatic ring, carved with a rose-like pattern, the band forged from radiant gold.

---

[Ring of Revival]

Rarity: Super Rare

Type: Accessory

One of the thirteen rings created by King Argodin Besmuthian. Crafted using a material said to originate from beyond this world. Like the others, this ring has sparked countless wars between nations for its possession.

Stats:

INT: +100

MP Regen: +40%

Skill:

Another Chance

If the user dies, they will be revived with 1 HP remaining.

Cooldown: 30 days.

---

"This..." my mouth was open wide.

"This is amazing!" I shouted. To be able to revive someone from death, this is something every human would desire. I didn’t wait long and immediately materialized the ring. It looked even more beautiful in my hand as I admired its delicate craft. One more feminine equipment added to my collection. But I don’t care, as long as it’s useful.

As I held it in my left hand and prepared to put it on my right ring finger, Bob suddenly sprinted toward me and slapped my hand, sending the ring flying to the ground a few meters away.

"No, Alan! What are you doing?" He looked terrified for no reason.

"Trying to wear a ring, obviously. What is wrong with you?" I scowled.

"Can you think for a while, dude? Did you read its description? Don’t you feel it’s strange?"

I was so damn confused by his behavior. "What do you mean? Just tell me already."

"Don’t you think there’s a reason why you suddenly pulled a ring that says it can bring you back to life once you die? It means only one thing. It means you’re going to die, one day, sooner or later."

"Well, isn’t everyone gonna die?"

"No! You don’t understand! This is very common in anime, novelkisss, or manga. If the main character gets one very special item or skill like this, it means sooner or later they’ll be forced to use it. This thing is a bad omen, Alan!"

"I don’t know how your brain works, but if I think carefully about what you said, and if this ring really attracts bad omens, don’t you think I should wear it now?" I said, opening my status and selecting the ring card again. It vanished from the ground and materialized back on my hand.

I slid it onto my finger while Bob was still protesting. But as it sat beautifully on my right ring finger, he had no choice but to accept.

"If anything bad happens to you, don’t say I didn’t warn you," Bob said.

"Don’t worry, Bob. Can you please stop relying so much on superstitions? Widen your mind a little. Now, it’s your turn to buy packs. We don’t have much time."

"Alright. Now, since you didn’t listen to me, don’t expect me to stop from choosing my own packs."

Like a rebellious spoiled kid, Bob picked one from the [Promotion of the Day] section. The pack was called [ULTIMATE IMPACT]. Six thousand BP went into the system, leaving us with only ten thousand BP left. I couldn’t scold him right now as he didn’t seem in the mood.

As he tore open the pack’s top, he grumbled, "Only three cards? What a scam!"

He immediately revealed all the cards, clearly not in the mood for suspense.

Bob and I were dumbfounded. Just like that, he pulled two Super Rares with absurd effects and a Secret Deck that, judging by its name, surely contained powerful cards.

"Whooaa... What... the... hell!!" Bob shouted, his hands trembling with excitement.

"What luck!" I exclaimed, equally thrilled.

As we jumped around, eyes fixed on the cards, a familiar voice interrupted us. Linus entered the tent.

"You two! We need to move now. The enemies are on the move!"
