Chapter 144: 144, Deadly Artificial Respiration!

"No, I can see you’re not in your right mind. You’re in desperate need of my mouth-to-mouth resuscitation!"

Zhang Meili was stunned for a moment, but when she saw his horrified reaction, her embarrassment flared into a rage. She shook her head, dismissing his unspoken refusal.

It wasn’t easy to have two men deliver themselves right to my doorstep. If I don’t satisfy my cravings, how can I justify running to Lin Suxin’s grave in the middle of the night to kneel in vigil? This must be compensation from the heavens, taking pity on me, Zhang Meili!

"No, don’t! Please, spare me! From now on, I’ll become a devout vegetarian and chant scriptures every day. I swear I won’t do anything shady or immoral ever again!" Ah Shou stammered, trembling so badly he retreated on his knees and burst into tears.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to resist. But one look at Zhang Meili’s two-hundred-plus-pound frame told him he stood no chance. Furthermore, her behavior was bizarre. She had appeared out of nowhere on this cemetery hilltop, was shamelessly eating the offerings, and had even gathered a pile of joss paper and candles. Her appearance, her actions... she was scarier than a ghost!

"Right. Why did you two come here in the middle of the night to dig up my Sister Suxin’s grave?" Seeing them pale-faced and stripped of all manliness, Zhang Meili’s interest began to wane. She questioned them, her voice sharp with dissatisfaction.

"We... we were just bored and broke, so we thought we’d try our luck... Please, just let us brothers go! We promise we’ll never dare to come back!" Ah Shou’s scalp prickled with fear. He stuttered through his words, each second stretching into an eternity. He glanced down and saw that both he and his brother had been stripped to their underwear. A wave of dizziness washed over him, and his heart plunged into an icy abyss.

Damn it! Who could have imagined that we, two of the four great stewards of the Ying family who call the shots, would one day be forcefully violated by a madwoman? This is an outrage against gods and men, an utter atrocity!

"Hmph, I think you’re trying to fool a ghost! There are countless graves here. Why did you two specifically choose to dig up Lin Suxin’s?" Zhang Meili’s small eyes darted about before she stuck out her tongue to lick her dry lips. "If you don’t start telling the truth, this old lady is going to get rough!"

"Don’t, don’t come any closer! I’ll talk, I’ll tell you everything!" Ah Shou completely broke down, tears streaming down his face.

It’s true what they say... do enough bad deeds, and you’re sure to face retribution.

"Actually, we were sent by someone to retrieve Lin Suxin’s ashes!"

"Retrieve? Hmph, what a nice way of putting it. You mean dig them up to threaten—Lin Fan?" Zhang Meili wasn’t stupid; she immediately grasped part of the truth. Her heart skipped a beat, and her eyes began to light up.

If I can force them to reveal their true intentions and tell Lin Fan, wouldn’t that be a great accomplishment? No, that’s not right. It would be better to join them and, in turn, force Lin Fan to hand over everything he took from the Su Family!

"Are you going to tell the truth or not? My patience is limited!" Zhang Meili’s plump face darkened as she pressured the trembling Ah Shou.

"I’ve already told you everything! What else do you want to know?" Ah Shou hung his head, filled with anger and indignation. "We... we’re from the Imperial Capital! The powerful figure behind us... you can’t afford to provoke them!"

"Hmph, so what if you’re from the Imperial Capital? Are the men from there somehow tastier?" Zhang Meili was also growing agitated. The sky was gradually lightening. If she delayed any longer, her chance would be gone.

THUD!

Relying on her large, sturdy frame, she lunged forward and knocked Ah Shou flat on his back. Then, she administered a lethal "mouth-to-mouth resuscitation."

"Ahhh... no, no! Get away from me, get away!" Ah Shou nearly went mad. Suffocated by Zhang Meili’s foul breath, his eyes rolled back in his head. He writhed like a maggot pinned under a heavy weight, struggling desperately. But with over two hundred pounds crushing him, escape was impossible.

One second... two seconds... three seconds... Ah Shou’s limbs spasmed and then went rigid. He turned his head away as two streams of bitter tears ran down his face.

It’s over. I’m defiled. In this godforsaken hellhole, I’ve been violated by a madwoman!

"Are you crying? Hmph, you just took advantage of me. You must be thrilled, right?" Zhang Meili climbed to her feet, looking deeply satisfied and chuckling contentedly. "Now spit it out. Where exactly are you taking Lin Suxin’s ashes?"

"Just kill me... I don’t want to live anymore, I don’t want to live..." Ah Shou sobbed, his face a mask of agony. He curled into a ball, clutching his chest, looking utterly helpless and desperate.

"Heh, I see you’re still not quite satisfied. In that case, I guess I’ll have to go again!" A gleam appeared in Zhang Meili’s eyes and her lustful thoughts ran wild as she leaned in once more toward the trembling Ah Shou. She was so focused that she failed to notice Ah Xi, the Fourth Brother, slowly regaining consciousness behind her.

BANG!

The next moment, before Zhang Meili could make her move, Ah Xi gritted his teeth, lifted a heavy stone lid from nearby, and smashed it hard against the back of her head.

THUMP!

The smile on Zhang Meili’s face froze. She swayed on her feet for a moment before collapsing heavily on top of Ah Shou.

"Third Brother! Third Brother, are you alright?" Ah Xi gasped for breath as he struggled to push the unconscious Zhang Meili aside. He helped Ah Shou, whose face was a mask of utter despair, to his feet.

Their eyes met, and the two brothers burst into tears, hugging each other and weeping bitterly.

Who could have imagined that the seemingly simplest, easiest mission would turn out to be so perilous and cost them such a great price!

Recalling Zhang Meili’s foul, stinking mouth, the brothers’ faces paled. They broke apart, turning away as they were overcome by waves of nausea, retching uncontrollably.

"...Don’t say another word," Ah Shou said, wiping away his bitter tears. "Not a single word about what happened tonight is to be mentioned to anyone!" He angrily lifted his foot to kick Zhang Meili but stopped abruptly, his foot hovering in the air. He was terrified that the kick might wake her, which would be far worse.

"Let’s go. Grab Lin Suxin’s ashes and hurry back to the Imperial Capital to report!" Ah Shou clenched his fists in grief and rage. Without a second glance at Zhang Meili, he snatched the urn from the small pit inside the open grave. "Forget the clothes. Let’s get out of here, quick, before this madwoman wakes up!"

After fishing their wallets and car keys out of their discarded suit jackets, the two brothers hastily put everything back as they had found it. Cursing under their breath, they sprinted down the mountain.

VROOM!

The gray van roared to life and then sped away as if fleeing from hell itself.

Atop Lingyuan Mountain, Zhang Meili was left alone. A moment later, she groaned, clutching the back of her head as her small eyes slowly fluttered open.

They were gone. The two living, breathing men had disappeared.

She propped herself up, her gaze hollow and dazed.

It all felt like a dream... but the suit jacket I’m still wearing proves it all really happened!

"It’s over! They must have stolen Lin Suxin’s ashes!"

The next moment, her gaze fell upon the disturbed base of the tombstone. Her pupils contracted violently, and panic seized her.

If Lin Fan finds out that I didn’t notify him immediately, that I got sidetracked by my own selfish desires... I have to run! It’s still dark, and no one has noticed. I have to get out of here! Yes, that’s it... I’ll head to Haicheng International Terminal. I’ll find a ship heading to Sha Country and go settle the score with that old bastard Stubborn Su Gang!

With that thought, Zhang Meili scrambled to her feet, patting the dirt off her rear. She, too, took off at a full sprint, fleeing the public cemetery on Lingyuan Mountain and heading toward Haicheng International Terminal.
