Chapter 237: Ivar’s strength

It had to be just another normal afternoon in the life of the citizens of the Castle. Just a peaceful day like any other in their ordinary lives.

However, just as sudden as a violent blizzard or a fast and furious storm, it changed.

At first, they were walking quietly on the streets, most of them coming already from their works and heading home. However, in a matter of seconds, a huge sound came across all the city and the ground shook like an earthquake was happening.

Who was close to the explosion surely couldn’t survive, who was several meters away had the chance to avoid the flying wreckage that crossed the air like bullets of a potent gun. The ones who were far away enough to not be harmed by the effects of the explosion could still see the catastrophe happening in front of their eyes, which made tension arise in the air.

All the Jarls and lucky commoners who worked on the Castle started to panic and run away from that floor, aiming to get to the nearest Teleporting pads and escape. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

It was obvious for them that another attack, just like the others who happened on random floors, was happening there.

Nonetheless, there was a group of people who couldn’t run away. They were the targets of that dreadful attack, yet the ones who had the fewer scratches compared to the other citizens below.

Their decision was quick and without hesitation. Once Eskil gave the order, no one questioned, faltered, or failed to find the most reasonable way to get out of that place as fast as possible.

Anyway, it wasn’t the best thing that could have happened either. Now, they didn’t have second chances.

"Everyone used the Saviors, right?" Leonel asked. That was the second time that Casper saw him with a serious and stoic tone.

The other five, including the White warrior, nodded their heads, glancing at him but also paying attention to the place where the Drakkar filled with explosives collided.

Each building in a ratio of 80 meters was falling from its foundations or collapsing. The ones that were around the center of the explosion had vanished in the blink of an eye.

Frustration was filling the hearts of those 6 Sgails as they looked at that part of the city being resumed in flames, dust, and ashes.

Casper had both fists tightened and his jaw tense. He bit so hard his lips that it was about to tear.

He wasn’t the only one, though. All the others, except Ivar, happened to feel the same thing.

The Aesir among them activated some devices on his body and increased the power of the exoskeleton he was using through an application on his smartphone.

The others, seeing their second leader already moving to do the countermeasures, repeated the same thing. Their exoskeletons wouldn’t be used at their max potential like the crazy Aesir was doing, but it was a great boost already.

’I wonder if he is too frustrated and angry. Can Ivar take all this pressure on his body?’

The soldier couldn’t help it and followed his partners.

When everyone was prepared, Ivar limited himself to say some things. These were the first words he gave as a real leader in that situation.

"We don’t have another chance to keep alive. Accept your destiny if it calls you to death, or then don’t lose grasp on your life if you feel that you still have something to do. That’s how a warrior should be!" He unsheathed his sword, wielding it with his right hand. He took off a metallic arrow from his quiver, holding it with his left.

Casper thought that Ivar’s serious tone of voice was accompanied by a grim expression, but it wasn’t like that.

That smile was still there, his eyes were joyfully narrowed and a gleam appeared when he spotted the flying Drakkars in the distance.

"Everyone, remember that even though we couldn’t destroy them, our mission here is to capture the Rat. That’s what we will aim for now. Don’t get discouraged by what happened. Let’s avenge all these people that might have died on this calamity." Leonel spoke.

Everyone had their weapons in hand. They were so advanced on top of that building that their feet were half out of the edge.

Just a single signal of Leonel was enough for them to boost themselves with all their strength and go in the direction of those flying ships.

Casper jumped. His vision was only focused on his enemies and no one else. He didn’t see how his comrades were doing. That was a situation where they all would need to act both individually and cooperating, so they needed to adapt according to the situation they were in.

Nevertheless, in that rush, the White warrior wasn’t the one to arrive there first. Actually, there was someone who none of the Sgails could catch up with.

The criminals on one of the Drakkars had their hearts bumping at a crazy speed. Again, they were put in such a situation because of Rat.

No one was content with the outcome of their mission, even though they could get all the weapons off the boxes, eliminate the disguised Sgails, and trap the others chasing them, they still wanted to do everything as stealthy as possible. That was the order given by their superiors by the way.

However, no matter what Rat did, their leaders would never question him. That was a bother and the factor that caused all that mess into the Castle.

They were still feeling their adrenaline running at full throttle and their minds going wild, but it was lessening since they were out of danger.

Or, at least, that was what they thought.

When organizing things on the deck of the Drakkar, one of the criminals spotted something coming in their direction almost like it was flying.

He didn’t need to look at it for too long or squint his eyes to see better because its approach was crazily fast.

When he realized who it was, he turned to his comrades to shout at them.

Ivar landed once again on top of a building, breaking its roof in the process. When he realized that he was noticed, he didn’t wait any further.

’I knew I wouldn’t have time to draw my bow.’ He thought, charging his legs in a posture just like a professional runner and boosting himself with all the strength he had augmented with the strength of the exoskeleton.

His body was launched to the air with a speed that could beat a lightning bolt. The concrete under his feet broke completely, making the roof of the building collapse.

He crossed a large distance in just some seconds and while in the middle air he threw the arrow in his left hand.

Before any sound could come out from the criminal’s mouth, the arrow came flying and pierced through his head, not stopping its rush and crossing another enemy’s body before landing on the Drakkar’s deck.

The other criminals got warned by the powerful attack and looked in the direction from where it came, but got surprised once someone passed flying beside them and landed on the deck right beside the arrow.

They were paralyzed for a moment. Someone as fast couldn’t exist in that world. It was inconceivable.

They turned their heads slowly, one of their comrades had his head falling off from his body and rolling on the deck. The slash that decapitated him was swift enough to make that kind of perfect cut: no blood spilling, no one noticing when it happened.

Once they saw that scene, they shivered, drawing their guns instinctively, but not having the courage to use them properly.

That was the power of an Aesir. Someone who gave his soul to the Royal Family and lived to be nothing but a warrior. To execute any threat that opposed to the crow.

Ivar took the arrow out of the Drakkar, tightening the grip on his sword. However, he didn’t take any fighting stance. He stood in the middle of that vehicle just looking at all those people as if challenging them to do something against him.

What made the criminals get completely frightened was his face. Even with that sad white mask covering all his face, they could feel the grin he had behind it.

’T-this guy... Is he having... Fun!? Is he enjoying it?’ One of them thought.

’I can’t move at all! What’s this effect? Why do my legs are shaking like this? I never feared someone as much as this guy before!’

’There is something wrong with him. It’s his aura... or something like this.’

The Aesir spun his sword sometimes, walking towards one of them.

"Haha, fine then. If you are not going to attack me, I will be the one doing this!"

In the other moment, he was right in front of his target.

"Let’s play, criminals!"
