Chapter 220: Astonishing news

The soldier was lying down on a bed at the infirmary of the Sgail’s Headquarters. Now that the adrenaline had left his body, he was feeling pain in different spots. His muscles were worn out as well and he was sure that he cracked a rib or two.

’I would be completely fine if it wasn’t for that criminal doing a kamikaze assault on me... Damn, those boots were potent. He covered such a distance in a very short span of time. I even forgot to use my shield instead of avoiding the attack...’

Something that Casper noticed during his time on the mission, particularly when in battle, was that he forgot several times that he had technologies to help him to do things. That was his biggest flaw and also the reason why he let those two criminals escape when he was so close to capturing them.

In the end, he was just lucky that they left behind evidence, but that was all. He didn’t have good participation in the battle. The soldier wasn’t used to see someone use all those high-tech devices at full power in battle.

’In the end, just as I thought back then, Vick and Leonel were absolutely right when they said that I was not prepared for the dangers that laid on this world. It’s an entirely different thing. Also, I am not used to the technology I have at my disposal now. I need to train my creativeness to make good use of them in the right times and get some advantage while on the battle.’

The White warrior was starting to wonder if one week of preparation was the best for him. He was hastily trying to keep track of that Rat before he could disappear completely, but if he was too hurried there, he could end up harming himself and ruining his principal mission.

’At least, my first mission is done. Not everything went well, but we could pull through. 50 Sgails entered, and 44 left. 6 deaths are still a huge number for me, but it’s better than the whole troop dying.’

He was trying to lift his mood by thinking positively, though it wasn’t helping too much. Looking at all that situation on the battlefield, he could only think that he still needed to improve a lot, although his strategic notion was still at its peak.

Casper stopped his flow of thoughts when he felt a sharp pain in his thigh and calf. A doctor was lifting his leg, bending it, and rotating his ankle as well; he was doing all sorts of moves on his leg and identifying which one caused more pain in the soldier.

"Damn! It surely is the one you just made! Oh my gosh..." It wasn’t too painful like he made it seem to be, but he was got by surprise.

"Hmm... Well, you surely pushed hard the muscles of your thigh. However, the worst part is still your ankle and calf. It’s not major harm, but you can’t push yourself any further for some days, otherwise, it will worse even more. Your ankle is well treated, by the way, but since you have been using your calf and thigh muscles so much recently, they are the muscular group in which you need more rest than the others." The healer let his diagnostic before going to a near table to get some medicine.

The soldier had raised his upper body because of the pain, but now he was relaxing again and just laid on the bed, looking to the white ceiling of that room.

’Well, it makes sense since I have been running since the first day I got here... in the prison as well, and now with the Sgails. I didn’t get more than 2 or 3 days of rest since I was enjailed. I am always trying to do something, even a workout.’

The healer got beside him again, he had a device on his hand that seemed like a large lamp. It was shining with a green light, in which he pointed to his muscles.

’This green light is what they call here as Leigheas. It’s something quite interesting; a treatment based on how the light travels the space as particles and wave at the same time. These particles are modified, so they can penetrate the skin flesh and bones, surpass it completely, then turn into wave, leaving a substance in the way that helps in the natural regeneration of the wound from inside to outside. It’s very good for internal wounds or muscular pain.’

The soldier really felt the need to know more about the medicine of that world and he was already studying a lot alone. Sometimes he would receive some classes in the Sgail’s Headquarters about that.

He remembered the day when he found himself inside that capsule. He didn’t remember the name, but it was something that they were still testing on people. The recovery that it provided was just amazing. Casper would like to experience that machine again in the future, but he didn’t know for how long they would keep with the tests.

"Ok, Casper. That’s the most I can do for you. Your body has some bruises and your bones got slightly harmed, but everything is okay, nothing dangerous. In just some time you should be fine again."

The soldier nodded for him, getting out of the bed and leaving that room.

The infirmary of the Sgail’s Headquarters was way bigger than the ones he visited before. It had all sorts of equipment and the healers seemed to be very competent.

’It’s been a while since I don’t see Amelia, by the way. I never had the opportunity to thank her for the help. There are the other nurses I got along with well before, too. Maybe I will visit them if I got a break from my duties at the Headquarters.’

The soldier left the infirmary. He faced again the corridors and various rooms of that place, which remembered him a lot of the Yanke Forces. People were still in a hurry there, particularly the team that took care of the work regarding activities inside the Headquarter.

Casper was now already used to that frenetic environment, and walked slowly there, giving enough space for the Sgails to keep going hurriedly on their way.

’They might be busy because of our new evidence. Maybe they are too busy trying to track and find where that organization is settling, or find any of their steps to have a basis from where to start. There is the group that is looking through the data registered by the Teleporting pads, so they can redo their course and know on which floor they stopped to teleport.’

The White warrior walked for a bit, but it didn’t last for too long before he bumped into someone.

"Hey White warrior!" Someone greeted him, and he knew exactly who it was. That annoying guy.

"What’s up, First?" He answered with a bothered voice, looking with tired eyes to that man.

Although he was still his teacher, Casper didn’t have too much respect for him.

The soldier noticed that the Sgail was limping hard with his right leg, and his left foot was bandaged.

"I am good. Messed up with my foot in the mission, but it will recover in two days!"

’I heard that it was usual to see soldiers coming harmed here in the Headquarters, but nowadays, with these criminal cases, it is happening more often.’

The White warrior sighed, a bit worried about his own health.

"You better do it. I know that your sisters won’t go to a mission without you and--"

"Yes, they won’t. Second is hospitalized and Third got a coma." He said as if it was the most natural thing ever.

Casper felt a chill going down his spine. He gritted his teeth while looking with pity at the man.

"Anyway, there is no point in talking about it. If we harmed ourselves so badly, you better be gambling lots of money that the results were as astonishing as it!"

The soldier got surprised because of the resilience of that man. Even after his two sisters got hospitalized, he was still thinking about his duty as a Sgail. It was incredible and sad at the same time; He remembered Casper from the time he was in the army and gave his all on his tasks, but this determination ended up being what blinded him.

"What kind of thing did you discover?" The White warrior ignored his inner feelings and focused on what really mattered.

"You will see! There is a reunion scheduled for now and they will be discussing it. It’s related to the evidence you got as well. But, be sure of something, this time we got them!" Spirited, First walked as fast as possible with his injured leg.

The soldier’s heart throbbed with excitement, his hopes raised.

’Now, that’s a meeting I can’t lose no matter what!’ Smiling slightly, he followed the Sgail, heading to the room where the reunion would happen.
