Chapter 215: Evacuation

Casper and Leonel departed once their plan to save all those people and try to take down the criminals was made. The Sgail stayed at the same place, just looking intently at the stage and prepared for anything that could happen. The soldier, though, walked off, passing through the crowd as swiftly and stealthy as he could. The criminals couldn’t notice his movements.

Once both of them were positioned, they just needed to wait for some time, then the plan would begin. What would determine how fast things would go were the actions of the criminals.

"Ok, ok..." The criminal started to say, clapping slowly his hands again. His fake gentle eyes got substituted by sarcasm as he looked to the furious, sad, or perplexed faces of those dozens of Jarls who were dancing in the palm of his hands.

"You all were such nice kids! I am seriously impressed that no one tried to do something stupid here! That’s amazing. I think I should give to you a reward for your efforts!" His voice was what turned that show to be even more creepy. It wasn’t too grave and he talked in a mellow tone, but the craziness behind his voice was clear and palpable.

"Aaah, c’mon, don’t do these grumpy faces to me... I am just trying to make things a bit funnier, ok? But if you want to take it so seriously, then it’s your problem." The criminal shrugged, walking from left to right on top of the stage and making everyone follow with their eyes.

"Ok, I won’t let you all be stuck here for longer. After all, we are running out of time and there is no way that we can play a bit more, but don’t worry, don’t worry; these five guys here will have enough fun to make up for the short time we had!" He giggled.

The Sgail narrowed his eyes towards that man, understanding what was his goal by doing all those things as slow as he did.

’He was trying to gain some time until the Seasonal Meeting ended! I am sure I know why he decided to do it, and if that’s the reason, then we got you.’

"Well, it’s better for you all to be quiet and polite, act as naturally as you can, and don’t argue. It’s time to leave the Seasonal Meeting, and the person who scream, curse, or attack first, will need to live knowing that he was the culprit for the death of all his family, understood?"

The crowd, again, remained silent, just looking at him as if they were about to jump onto that stage and kill him; but they couldn’t. If their lives were the ones at stake, they would do something for sure, however, their families were at risk in that situation.

’Just as I thought, he will make everyone leave the Seasonal Meeting calmly to not draw attention and to keep the Sgails from group A out there confused. Then, they will find a way to bring all those five people wherever they want... That’s a good strategy, I need to admit.’

Leonel was still frustrated that they read their strategy so easily and countered so perfectly like that. Anyway, the plan he had made with Casper would surely fix the mess that that meeting turned to be.

Leonel looked to the White warrior, who gave him the signal. The Sgail glanced at the wall in which the projector was showing the image of the screens and now all of them were disabled, except for one.

The Sgail inflated his lungs, then shouted as loud as he could.

"LOOK! The screens on the wall are disappearing!" His voice echoed in the hall. Everyone, even the man who was on the stage, looked at the image projected on the wall.

Their eyes widened once they saw the last screen being shut down after a Ridire appear in the distance, aiming at the person who was recording that live.

The hopes that all those people let die before raised again and their energies were renovated.

"RUN!" Casper was the one shouting this time and all of the Jarls didn’t hesitate to follow his order, running towards the exit from that hall and ignoring completely the warnings and hisses of the criminal.

The crowd reached the exit, which was not so big for everyone, pushing the people who were in front of them and trying to go down the stairs as fast as possible. Their despair to get out of there was shown in their screams of anxiety and shouts they gave to hurry their comrades to go faster.

However, all the Sgails present at that hall didn’t move an inch and instead gazed at the criminal on the stage with serious eyes. They knew that those guys wouldn’t hurt the Jarls. Now that they lost the psychological power over them, they couldn’t do anything. The major threat that they could inflict on them was a warning shot or harm them, but not to the point of killing.

Leonel was the first one to move towards the stage, swiftly drawing his pistol in one hand and a knife on the other. Casper and the other two Sgails did the same, starting to walk forward slowly as well.

The criminal, though, didn’t seem to be so shaken by the turn of things and just kept looking at them with foxy eyes, as if he knew since the start that they would be making that decision and turn the table like that.

Those eyes made Leonel and his comrades feel uneasy about the situation. They didn’t know if the guy was just bluffing. They were aware of their surroundings and no strange movements could be noticed outside, nor inside the mansion.

’What’s this guy planning to do now? You can keep with these eyes of yours towards us, but you and I know very well all the options you have now.’

Now that Leonel could grasp his line of thought and way of act, he was aware of how many steps that criminal could still make before he got cornered.

"I think you all are being too reckless here... I mean, you need to open your eyes a bit more!" He snapped his fingers and from that crowd trying to surpass the exit of the hall, some Jarls started to give up on that escape and just walked back again.

’Well, now we know that he wasn’t bluffing when he said that there were people from his side among the Jarls. And there are more than I thought even.’ Leonel was looking around, seeing those disguised criminals surrounding him and his team. He looked at their hands, they were hiding them behind their luxurious clothes, which just could mean that they had guns with them as well.

"We aren’t being precipitated here, my fellow intruder. We know exactly what is our position here. You should know as well, right?" The usual ironic tone of Leonel was there again, that’s how he usually acted even under pressure when dealing with types like that man on the stage.

"As you mentioned before, you said you knew that we were among the Jarls, but outside the mansion as well, so you are aware of how cornered you are!"

The criminal giggled, looking him with contemptuous eyes.

"Are you sure that we aren’t tidied here? I think it will end in a draw if we continue..." He put his hand on his back, searching inside his clothes and taking off a pistol as well. Leonel noticed that the gun he was wielding was a Helheim.

’That’s an interesting point to notice. I bet that Casper realized it as well.’ He glanced to the White warrior, who was looking to the hands of that criminal.

"I think you are misunderstanding things here, speaker. If you think that we fear being dead at the cost of our comrades kill you afterward, you are mistaken. We are warriors as well; if we die in battle, we believe that our destiny will be Valhalla. You can kill us now." The serious eyes of Leonel and the strong agreement of the other Sgails let no doubt about their intentions and determination. They wouldn’t run away, even if it ended with their lives.

The Jarls were already evacuating successfully the hall, most of them should be on the first floor at this point.

The criminal on the stage was walking more hastily on there, going back and forth, as if pondering what would be the better thing to do.

"Hmm... You are not wrong but I wasn’t saying anything like fighting, was I?"

Once Leonel heard those words, he understood what was going on.

’They weren’t holding weapons! These guys are calling--’ His line of thought was interrupted once he heard the typical noise of the air thrusters of the Drakkars, making his assumption become reality.

"Shot at them now!" He shouted, and at the same time, the criminals started to run away to the nearest window.
