Descending Into A Novel-Chapter 120:City of Creatures(18)
Raymond fondled his own fluffy tail, he could understand why the transformations were so popular in Mirovia City.
The strange sensations, it was uniquely enjoyable. His hearing was enhanced, able to hear the faint inhale and exhale of Ellen. His sense of smell was also a lot stronger. Her floral scent filling his nostrils. His vision also felt a lot stronger.
He supposed this was one of the spells he managed to detect. Some kind of morph spell to give him animal features, some kind of buff spell to boost his senses.
Raymond technically could achieve the same results as a perfect human. He just dulled down his senses to a regular human most of the time.
"It’s not a wolf."
He raised an eyebrow, his ears also twitching slightly. "Then a dog?"
"A husky to be more precise. I thought it fit you."
Raymond’s mind flashed back to one of his coworkers on Earth. She was always complaining about her own husky, saying it was way too stubborn.
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?"
"Think of it what you want, what species of cat am I?"
"I didn’t check, I just took the first one that was for cats."
What Raymond had chosen for Ellen was naturally, the most popular transformation—the ever beloved cat girl.
Raymond wouldn’t say it out loud, but the sight of Ellen curiously touching her own feline ears was extremely cute. It reminded him a lot of Anna...
Without thinking, Raymond stretched his right hand forward.
pat pat
Her hair was as silky soft as ever, this time however there two triangular cat ears sticking out of her head.
Scratching behind her ears, he was rather surprised by how accurate the potions were as well. The feeling was extremely similar to real cats and cat beastkin.
Faced with his petting and scratching, Ellen felt a strange yet comfortable sensation wash over her. Relaxing her shoulders before involuntarily releasing a purr.
prrrrrr~
"You even purr as well? These potions are a lot more advanced then I thought."
Ellen immediately slapped his hand away, face turning red as she realized what she had done.
"I—I didn’t mean to purr like that!"
He rubbed his chin, one spell for the morph, one spell for the sensory enhancements, another spell to change the noises produced by them as well, the last one seemed to also be something to help with his control over the new appendages.
Ellen reached a hand out to him, attempting the same thing.
He didn’t try to stop her, closing his eyes as he felt the magic kick in. His own body relaxing as she scratched his hair. They were sitting down currently, but his tail was furiously wagging side-to-side. Creating a noise reminiscent of helicopters.
"Hmm...I think I could replicate this magic now that I’ve experienced it."
"Why is that what you’re focused on?"
She pouted slightly, how come he didn’t even seem flustered at all by her touch? And more importantly, how come he was so good at letting others? Even more importantly however, how come he wasn’t as obsessed with her appearance as she thought he would?
Don’t guys go crazy over this? Am I just not attractive enough?
Ellen was someone who always held a lot of confidence in herself, before and after her regression. But today was the first time she felt that confidence get shaken.
"It’s incredibly fascinating magic. The fact that the Mercia Family managed to produce these transformations on such a large scale is a feat even I can respect," he answered.
She stopped petting him, a slight trace or annoyance on her face.
Which quickly vanished once Raymond stretched his hand out again.
"How are you so good at this...?!"
He paused, letting Ellen break free from his hand once more.
"Because Anna is a beastkin..."
"Oh."
Ellen remembered now. His daughter, that wasn’t actually his daughter.
"I didn’t get to do with her after she grew up. She always said it made her feel like a little kid. She hated that, she wanted to be treated like an adult. She was always too mature for her age..."
She quietly grabbed his hand, lifting it and putting it back into her head. Despite her face being red, and her tail swishing back and forth.
"Then. You can pet me as much as you want."

Raymond stared out at the sky, ever since yesterday night when they had tried the transformations. His mind kept flashing back to his past on Erde.
He let out a deep breath, Sophia’s face lingering in his mind. It was a long time ago already, he had already moved on. He had even gotten a new girlfriend, even if that relationship didn’t last long. But he had moved on as best as he could.
Still, those memories of him and Sophia. Something which existed only in his memory. It made him melancholic, all those nights of sneaking out so they could go on dates around the empire. All completely gone.
"Raymond, there’s a gift shop there. Should we get some last-minute souvenirs?"
"Hmm? Oh, sure."
A voice snapped him out of his reminiscing, prompting him to reply.
He yawned, rubbing his eyes as he followed her into the gift shop. They still had another hour before their train arrived, so they might as well get some gifts.
A little presence followed the two of them, her dragonic features made her stick out quite a lot. Luckily since it was early in the morning there weren’t many people around, and most assumed it was merely a transformation. This time as they returned to the academy, they were returning with an extra presence.
He asked her, "Do you also want a souvenir?"
She nodded, her tail swaying behind her excitedly.
They still hadn’t chosen a name for her yet, mainly because they couldn’t think of one, and Raymond’s hopes which were pinned on the coffee club was failing him.
---
Sean:What about something like Gertrude?
Liam:Sean. Imagine for a second, your wife suggests naming your son Rupert. What kind of person would ever do that to their child?
Sean:What’s wrong with Rupert?
Liam:Don’t offer any more suggestions! Raymond’s girl would probably get a heart attack if he ever suggested those names!
Clara:Liam why can’t you put this much effort into anything else?
Liam:Because nothing else is as fun as this! Imagine the drama that will come out of Raymond talking to a girl! His whole year would go crazy over the news!
Clara:Just say that you were dropped in the head as a child. You don’t need all these convoluted expressions.
Liam:That was so out of the blue what the @#&*
---
Raymond let out a tut, what the hell kind of name was Gertrude? How come no one in the coffee club managed to think of a regular normal name yet?
The conversation had derailed at some point from name suggestions into discussion on why he had even requested names. (Plus an argument between Liam and Clara but they were always arguing anyways.)
Rather then thinking of something normal like, maybe he had gotten a pet. Their first thought was, Raymond is probably just trying to talk to a girl!
Holding her hand so she wouldn’t get lost. The three of them entered the small gift shop.
It was about as what Raymond expected, expensive postcards, mementos, magnets and keychains. It was overpriced even in Mirovia City.
His eyes immediately locked into a certain part selling animal stands.
"I want that!"
It was around the length of his forearm, standing tall and proud. Its wings were fully extended, breathing out a mighty stream of fire.
He could understand why she wanted it as well, because he also wanted it!
It looked a bit different from the Bloody Fang Dragon in the future, she wasn’t as spiky nor was she such a dark shade of red. But it was pretty damn similar.
They both turned to Ellen, their pleading looks like a double hit K.O on her.
"Fine."
"Yes!"
"Yay!"
She let out a sigh, already thinking of more excuses to draw money out from her father. Before spotting two other animal stands which caught her attention.
"Let’s get these as well."
Ellen could feel her own savings dwindle away with each purchase. She still had a few years before her dad would finally give her unlimited access so she still had to rely on what little she had currently. Plus Raymond’s occasional payment, but she was still the main financier. For anything that wasn’t academy points.
"Is she your sister? She’s very cute."
The cashier smiled as she processed their purchases. Handing then over to Raymond who stored in his dimensional storage.
She puffed her cheeks out, "I’m not her sister! She’s my mom!"
Another couple in the gift store quietly whispered to one another. A smile on their faces as they witnessed the interaction between the three and the cashier.
"What a sweet family. She looks so embarrassed at being called mom, and that child is so cute~"
That passing remark drifted into their ears. Their constitutions let them hear it very clearly in fact. They both heard it way too clearly.
Raymond glanced down at her, who was clinging to his hand—lips pouting slightly as she corrected the cashier. Then at Ellen, who turned her flushed face away in embarrassment. A silence taking over.
