Descending Into A Novel-Chapter 119:City of Creatures(17)
"By the way, what’s her name?"
This entire time, they had only ever just referred to her as...her. It was a bit awkward to just call her dragon or RD.
"My name is Colleen!"
She quietly plugged her ears again,"Actually, she said that she wanted to be named by her parents. So she decided to take my name as a temporary name."
Colleen, the adult one. Offered an explanation to them.
Raymond didn’t even know a temporary name was a thing. But given that she probably didn’t have a certified identity, it didn’t matter.
"Since you two are going to be her parents. You should probably start thinking of a good name."
"We’re just her caretakers as well though?"
"I’m already her caretaker though? She’s already assumed you two are her parents to take her back."
Looking back on it, the first thing she asked was ’Are you two my parents?’. Raymond didn’t know whether he had the mental capability to say no to her. She already looked so excited when she saw them.
"We’ll think about it."
"I’ll take care of her until you two leave the city. You should start learning how to take care of her, The news of the raid has already started being leaked to the public and the Mercia Family is starting to take action to contain the fallout. I’ll be quite busy so make sure your instructor leaves a good word for me."

Raymond hummed, his finger furiously tapping away on his phone.
He wasn’t really the best at naming things. So he asked the first few people that he could think of.
The coffee club. They were all regular people who lived normal lives. Surely they would have some good name ideas right?
Raymond:Guys. I need a name for a girl. Any ideas? Very important.
Liam:Thinking of child names already? Who’s the lucky girl?
Raymond:if you’re not going to give me any ideas then keep quiet.
It was still pretty late at night, so it seemed only Liam was online. The guy was a hardcore night owl, who only made it through his classes with caffeine. Then proceeded to spend his nights doing anything except for sleep.
Seeing that Liam wasn’t giving any ideas, he just turned his phone off. With how tired he was from the raid, he fell asleep the moment his head hit the pillow.
Waking up to the alarm clock that was Ellen. Raymond groggily forced himself out of bed.
He did mention how he wanted to enjoy the city, but having to wake up early to have fun was a negative correlation.
But he got up anyways. This was their last day in the city, then they would leave in the morning tomorrow. Who knows when they would next return.
News of the raid was still being kept under wraps for now. So they could still go out in public and remain relatively alone, although their appearance as special class students already guaranteed them a minimum amount of fame.
Raymond’s recent magic breakthrough also caused a bit of staring and pointing, but all in all. He was still relatively free from being swarmed compared to a famous actor or something.
He yawned, walking alongside Ellen as she navigated the city using a map on her phone. Her arrow keychain dangling off of it as she struggled to reach their destination.
The two of them were still relatively short on money, but Rayez had given them a small amount. Enough to at least have some fun in the city.
Their first stop was the transformations. Mirovia City had lots of different things that tourists from all over the world would flock to try—riding the creatures, animal circuses, fighting rings, the theme park.
One of the top attractions however, was the transformations!
It was quite a simple idea actually, many people liked animals but what did they love more then a cat? A catgirl, or a wolfgirl,or just any human with mild animal features.
Thus the transformations were born. For a pretty cheap price, or extremely high depending on the quality. You too could become one of these beastkin, because most real beastkin did not look like how most people expected then to be.
Raymond could probably achieve a similar result with his own magic, but sometimes. Letting other people do it for you was still better.
Sure you could use ice magic to cool yourself down, but isn’t there a perfectly fine air-conditioner?
It was the same reasoning behind how people who were desperately thirsty for water yet refused to walk out of bed for it.
Walking into a crowded store, both of them turned to stare at each other. The same idea crossing both their minds.
"Don’t get something weird."
"That’s what I should say."
Splitting off into separate directions, the two reunited ten minutes later outside the store. Each holding a spherical glass bottle in their hands.
She stared at the glittering yellow liquid in his bottle, while he stared at the sparkling grey liquid in hers. Both of them raising an eyebrow in suspicion.
"What happened to don’t get something weird?"
"I swear it just looks weird. It’s a completely normal animal."
"I could say the same thing."
Their eyes narrowed in suspicion once more.
"How about we save this for last?" He suggested.
Putting their bottles into his dimensional storage, the two promptly forgot about it. Choosing to focus on having fun instead as they wandered the city.
Mirovia City wasn’t a tourist hotspot for no reason. Even if Raymond and Ellen were given an extra week, he highly doubted they would have had enough time to go through everything the city had to offer.
Just visiting any of the animal fighting rings would have taken at least a day already. But they were rushing through the city so they decisively skipped out on attending any of the fights.
Even with their hectic scheduling, Raymond still found himself enjoying the city and all that it contained. The Mercia Family might have been a bit in the grey side, but they sure knew how to run a business!
"Raymond! Say cheese!"
He smiled, hitting a slight pose for the camera. The two of them standing on the back of a massive eagle (similar to the ones used for advertising), the winds blowing through their clothes and making his hair flow freely.
Taking Ellen’s phone, the two of them swapped places. Ellen standing near the head of the eagle as she smiled in his direction. Brushing a stray strand of her hair away as the wind caught it again and again.
Her long hair, tied in her signature ponytail. The silhouette of her body against the setting sun, the dim orange lighting the kind that made everything seem warm. Even with the sun gradually setting, her strange eyes still seemed to sparkle as she looked at him.
Raymond temporarily forgot what it was he was supposed to be doing.
There was a reason that Ellen was his favourite ’character’ after all, and right now. Raymond was clearly reminded of why.
He tried to focus. Taking a deep breath to calm his beating heart.
"Are you gonna take it or not?" she called.
He blinked, "I...yeah. I’m taking it."
Exhaling slowly, he steadied his fingers.
Click
He handed her phone back to her. Watching as she used her hand to shield her eyes from the sun. Looking through the several dozen pictures they had taken that day.
"We should get a real camera. One of those travel ones that can take really good pictures."
He felt it was a shame, something like this could only remain in his memory. The camera unable to properly capture what it had seen.
Or maybe it was a good thing.

Raymond collapsed onto his bed in their hotel room. Exhaustion taking over him, his entire body sore and tired.
Even Ellen, who was naturally stronger and had more stamina then him looked a bit tired. Letting out a yawn as she sat down.
But they still had one last thing to do.
Pulling out two bottles from his dimensional storage. He passed the golden one to Ellen, holding the grey coloured one in his own hand. Sitting across each other.
"...I’m starting to be scared of what you picked for me."
Sloshing the bottle around, Raymond closed his eyes as he felt the mana in the bottle.
These bottles, were actually just spells in a liquid form. Working on a similar principle as engravings, enchantments and runes.
It was quite hard to tell what spell it could cast however, Raymond could feel that there were at least four distinct spells and that was about it. He couldn’t tell what they were or what they did. Only that there were at least four of them.
"Same time?"
He nodded, on the count of three. The two uncorked their respective bottles and downed the contents in one swift gulp.
Raymond expected it to taste bad, most magic ingredients tended to be on the more...disgusting side. But it seemed the makers of the potion were nice enough to flavour it, because it tasted more chocolate with hints of coconut.
It took a while for the effect to kick in. But once it did, he could feel it almost instantly. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Trying to describe what exactly had changed was a but hard to explain.
His hearing shifted, he could hear a lot better now. But where he heard it from changed from the sides of his head to the top of his head.
He could feel something long and furry from his back, like an extra limb or finger. Instinctually able to control it even though it was his first time.
Looking in a pre-prepared mirror, he let our a soft breath as he admired his appearance.
Raymond figured this was similar to what Cador really looked like, because sticking out of his head. Was two distinctly triangular fluffy ears.
"Is this a wolf transformation?"
