Demon Lord: Erotic Adventure in Another World-Chapter 758: Arbitration
The frigid winds came hand in hand with Hansberg’s desert nights, under the gigantic moon bathing in its moonlight, Velvet stood in a forest ahead of the Valkyries, waiting for Asmodeus’s signal.
"Sister, do you think he’ll send the signal soon?"
Velvet glanced at Erika and shook her head, then patted her head.
"Don’t worry, it’ll be fine."
She couldn’t help but hold a soft spot for the silly girl who bit her lips when nervous.
Everyone knew how dangerous and big tonight’s mission would be. It could also spark war between the Empire and Lumeria. As the harsh wind blew against the trees, bending the delicate branches, a voice echoed faintly.
[It’s time!]
Velvet’s brows furrowed instantly as she quickly changed from the soft sister to the commander of the Valkyries.
"All units prepare to depart, check your weapons, gather your divine aura."
The ones who reacted fastest were, of course, Erika, Levia, Vinea and Serena, who all felt their husband’s power briefly before it vanished again.
"Erika, Levia, you two will take the eastern route."
"Yes, Ma’am!"
She couldn’t afford to baby them or act kind. Velvet clenched her fists as she glanced at their empress, who continued to hide herself.
"Vinea, you take the detached units, and after we teleport, fly afterwards as delayed support."
Velvet’s violet eyes focused on Serena’s expression; she didn’t want to insult her, but combat wasn’t Serena’s forte, and thus she sent her with Vinea. ’Don’t blame me, Sister, these are his orders.’
To Velvet and the women, Asmodeus came first.
"Everyone, you’ve been training for this kind of mission, no matter what, we are to recover and save our fellow Lumerians and support our Emperor. We must crush any enemies that might appear on the road!"
"This is the Valkyrie Brigade’s maiden flight."
The women’s wings fluttered as Velvet scanned them. Each of these women used to be soft and gentle, but after a few months of intense training, their brutal energy crackled almost visibly.
"Let’s go."
The teleportation device wasn’t anything special, just a black slate created with special ore that could absorb a huge amount of mana. Which meant the stone carried the burden of casting the teleportation spell.
His wives might be strong and excellent, but teleporting hundreds of women at once was something only Asmodeus himself could achieve.
’Though that fool doesn’t even realise how amazing that is.’
Velvet curled her lips, thinking of her husband.
She couldn’t help but feel excited because, unlike usual, the woman he contacted through the temporal link was her and not Lumina or Serena.
Thus, Velvet’s blood and energies crackled and buzzed just like the fresh recruits in the Valkyrie Brigade.
Vwoom!
Once the portal opened, a brilliant blue light and subtle hum with the occasional buzz filled the silent forest.
Velvet took one last look at the eastern and western flanks, which would both fly; delaying them by two hours, but with two thousand troops, she couldn’t teleport them all into the danger zone.
’It’ll be fine.’
’I am stronger now.’
Thus, the first regiment stepped into the blue light.
.
.
.
Inside the small inn, Velvet and ten Valkyrie appeared, the windows already unlocked, along with the sunroof, which allowed them to float into the sky.
"Quick, for sisters to appear, we must leave. Follow me."
The process of teleporting didn’t take long.
Velvet remained vigilant, constantly scanning the area around her and soon found the trail of aura Asmodeus left for them to follow.
Behind her, the eight hundred warriors all snapped their fingers as a soft gust covered their bodies, masking them from visual sight.
’This dwarven armour is amazing.’ Velvet thought, looking back at her troops. Although her armour could do the same, she chose not to do that because it felt cramped and limited her ability to sense long distances.
That’s why eight of the eight hundred remained visible.
These women were the scouts for each group of one hundred women.
’Okay, the distance is... four thousand metres.’
Velvet’s grey wings flapped, taking her high into the sky, her body illuminated by the stars as she swooped down, flying towards a strange building built into a mountain.
"Phew, there don’t seem to be any guards."
Her body rolled in the sky as she guided the eight groups towards the target location. At this rate, she thought everything would be over in time for morning. She wanted to go home to see Nyxielle and play with her; being away from home was too much.
"Hm?"
She suddenly felt a tingle run across her skin, which meant danger. Her eyes squinted as a faint flicker of gold appeared ahead, before it disappeared. "What?" At first, Velvet didn’t think much of it and shook her head.
But then another flicker appeared, then another.
"D-Danger!" She called out after seeing the threads of divine aura; her wings instantly slapped the air, halting her position in the air.
However, it was too late.
She glared at a distant figure while biting her lower lip.
"Damn it!"
Velvet cursed at her own foolishness.
How could there be no defence, and why didn’t she listen to Asmodeus’s warning more earnestly?
"Tonight I will likely fight an Abyssal and an Arbiter. Do not let your guard down."
His words replayed in her mind as she stared at the net of golden aura closing off the sky ahead of her.
"Commander?"
Voices from the stealthed Valkyrie Regiment reached her ears, but Velvet kept her eyes locked on the figure beneath them—a short, lean-built male with a harmless face.
But he gripped two golden swords.
That’s when he suddenly lifted his head and smiled.
"Gotcha." He mouthed.
The man lifted his sword, and from the tip a thread of golden light extended, forming another row of the netting that wrapped the sky. Velvet watched his faint smile distort before he sliced the air with his sword.
Instantly, the golden net began to shrink around them.
Velvet’s tingling skin instantly started to throb as if on fire. ’Shit!’ She turned back with a pale face and shouted an order to the Valkyrie.
"Avoid that net! Retreat!"
Alas, it was too late.
The golden thread moved too fast.
Drei’s holy netting danced through the air as it contracted around them, slicing their flesh before it faded into the night sky.
Velvet’s heart pounded as she struggled to swallow.
At first, nothing seemed to happen.
Then the screams began.
The net threaded through wings, torsos, and throats with surgical indifference. Valkyries flying at full speed were bisected mid-motion, their momentum carrying separated halves forward before gravity dragged them down. Wings sheared cleanly, divine feathers scattering like burning snow as bodies tumbled from the sky.
One moment, the formation was intact, ready for the mission and the next, it ruptured from within.
Golden lines carved through layered armour as though it were silk. Dwarven plate split apart like tofu or butter, edges glowing white from the heat. Limbs littered the sky before blood poured down like rain, spraying the desert sands below.
A hundred.
Two hundred.
In less than a few seconds, two entire squads vanished.
Some Valkyrie managed to survive, breaking their spead, screaming as their wings reversed their thrust to suffer light wounds. Others folded their wings instinctively, only to be sliced lengthwise, cleaved from collarbone to hip.
It was a massacre.
Velvet felt it all, as if those wires cut through her flesh and body.
The sudden loss of so many divine auras that she helped produce and train struck her like a hammer. Her wings cramped as she fell, unable to focus for a moment as the combined dread and horror of six hundred Valkyrie assaulted her mind.
Mid-fall, she lifted her hand.
And slapped herself.
"—RETREAT!" she roared in a voice that cracked, although too late for the dead.
She wouldn’t abandon the living; this enemy wasn’t something mere Rank Two or barely Rank Three pups could face.
Velvet glanced at the net and sighed as she landed on the sands, her eyes watching hundreds of Valkyrie flee back into a safe distance. She imagined that because they attacked suddenly using the portal, his defensive net couldn’t cover the entire sky.
"I should have listened to him more clearly." Velvet spat, her skin covered in faint marks, dozens of net-shaped markings where the divine aura burnt her skin—yet failed to cut through her reinforced body.
She stepped forward, a familiar enemy.
Last time she fought him after exhausting herself against the girls for almost an entire day of training and fighting, but just from his divine aura, Velvet knew he was stronger, much stronger than what he showed back then.
With each step she took, her divine aura and other energies surged, combining and fusing together as her flesh vanished, hidden under her exquisite black and violet dragon scales, her pale face soon completely covered with nothing but black eyes with purple irises peering at the man in front of her.
Velvet hated him.
He held two swords, standing lazily, even yawning as she approached.
"Huh? Where is the girl with that damn sword?"
She knew immediately from his words that this bastard didn’t see her as an opponent, despite her years of training pushing herself to the limit.
Why could people like this treat her like a doormat?!
"As if I need her to defeat you!"
VWOOM!
Her aura exploded, as both arms deformed and elongated, with dragon claws at the end.
Only one man could look down on her, laugh at her or treat her like a weakling.
Velvet would never accept this man, never believe he was above her!
"I will kill you here and now!"
"Oh?"
Drei’s eyes changed slightly when he noticed her change; his lips curled into a wide grin.
"A dragon, huh? I thought those things went extinct aeons ago."
His swords suddenly shone bright, as he held one over his shoulder, the other hung low, almost touching the floor. He glanced at Velvet like prey, something to devour. He looked at her strangely, with an expression so eerie that it made her stomach churn in disgust.
"Interesting! Interesting!"
With those words, his body appeared in front of her face, with both blades raised.
