Chapter 743: How to Support Their husband

Not long after Asmodeus contacted her, Velvet looked for Empress Serena, hoping to arrange a force to join them in their overnight teleportation. She couldn’t be late after he asked with such a serious tone.

However, when Velvet arrived at the underground training chamber, the resonating shouts thundered through the doorway.

Thousands upon thousands of former Demon Knights, all fighting and training brutally with spears, swords and other weapons. There was no peace or forgiveness here; the women stabbed, flayed and tore each other apart like enemies.

‘It wasn’t like this before.’

When she first saw this training room, Velvet also saw the future, listening to Lumina and Serena speaking about an elite force that would protect Asmodeus and their children, no matter where or when.

But this was too intense.

“Velvet, what’s the matter?” Serena’s graceful form turned slightly to glance at her sister-wife with a fleeting smile.

“Sister Empress… It’s about Asmodeus, the Emperor.”

Velvet’s spine tingled whenever she interacted with Empress Serena recently. After creating this huge underground training ground, her army of Rank One and Two Valkyries exploded in number, and despite the gruelling training.

Through this training, several of the women died or became ordinary women after shattering their cores. The morale and almost blind faith these women held for Lumeria, Asmodeus, and Serena scared Velvet a little.

‘Ever since those fools came and insulted our husband. Serena changed so much…’

Although she remained soft and affectionate to the princes and princesses, no matter who their mother and her sister-wives were. But Velvet had seen it several times now, that terrifyingly cold darkness that simmered deep within her pupils like hellfire.

“Go on.”

The moment she focused those cold eyes on Velvet, her existence shook.

‘W-What is this pressure!?’

“Velvet, go on. Speak.”

Serena’s head tilted to the side with an eerie, exaggerated smile.

For a moment, she somehow didn’t seem normal. Velvet’s heart pounded as she felt the existence before her was looking through her, not at her.

“He’s requested some help in Hansberg…” Velvet revealed the events which Asmodeus shared with her; she just couldn’t stop speaking when facing those silver eyes that resembled the moon.

A few seconds passed after Velvet finished, her back dripping with cold sweat, since she came right after training. She was naked underneath the dragon scales which covered her body, and still she felt hot.

Serena watched Velvet for a few seconds before tapping her moist, red lips. “Well.” She suddenly chuckled before nodding. “Okay, then you’ll take five hundred valkyrie with you, but keep them hidden, only use them if darling is in trouble.”

‘Yes, this is the Serena I know.’

No matter how insane and strange she became, two things didn’t change. It was part of the reason Velvet, Alice and the others didn’t complain; to be honest, they understood the pressure of being the Empress.

‘Unable to chase him, waiting in the empire for him to return. Even I would go mad…’

“Sister Empress, I will trust your judgement!”

Velvet held her right arm across her chest, the standard greeting and salute of the Lumerian Knighthood and army.

“Mhm, after all, Velvet is a good girl. I’ll make sure to reward you well if you complete this task for us.” Serena waved her hand, which allowed Velvet to escape. The terrifying atmosphere of the Empress grew each day because of her immense divine aura.

It surpassed Asmodeus by almost double.

Well, that’s because of their different evolution choices.

.

.

.

Serena watched Velvet scurry away like a little rabbit scared of a wolf. She adjusted her foul mood and glanced at Lumina, who fought against ten different Valkyrie trainees using her eight rapiers to dominate them with relative ease.

“Lumina.”

A soft, barely audible call left her moist lips as Serena closed her eyes.

‘Asmodeus didn’t call me, he must be worried about making me busy… You stupid man. I would gladly set this world ablaze just to see your smile.’

Memories of the knight and noble who departed earlier in the day surfaced, causing her calm demeanour to shatter.

“S-Sister?”

A wave of distorted divine aura flowed in every direction like a maelstrom, knocking everyone to the ground and crushing their flesh and bones into the ground.

“Kyaa!?”

“Wha….!”

Screams echoed as they vomited blood and struggled to roll into a recovery position, trying to endure Serena’s rage.

Bang!

A white exoskeleton instantly formed over Lumina’s body as she kicked off the floor, dashing towards Serena, lost in her madness, with agile and perfect steps.

With each tap, slight cracks formed from the extra pressure and weight created from Serena’s divine aura that went berserk.

“Sister!”

There wasn’t a reason for her to hold back, and she whipped towards Serena’s chest with a lashing kick. The moment Serena detected aggression, her eyes snapped towards Lumina, glowing with golden light as two beams fired.

Vwoom!

Lumina’s flexible body flipped over the beams, using her eight extra limbs to springboard into the air, twirling with eight rapiers aimed at her sister.

The light faded from Serena’s eyes as she spread both arms. With an elegant flick, dozens of silver magic circles formed before merging into twelve beautiful moons, which crackled with divine aura.

“SERENA!”

“Mm?”

Eight blades.

Twelve moons.

The white armour and hair on the back of Lumina’s neck sizzled from the sheer heat of the moons, their light malevolent and dangerous. ‘I have to snap her out of it!’

Lumina didn’t hesitate.

She twisted mid-air, eight blades crossing and uncrossing in a tight rhythm as she drove forward. But the moons didn’t hesitate; their surfaces vibrated with silver light before exploding with twelve beams.

The air thickened around Lumina, gravity folding inward as Serena’s divine aura weighed down everything beneath it.

Crack.

The floor shattered further.

Lumina faced the pressure head-on.

To Lumina, this was another sort of practise, fighting the Valkyrie was good, but when fighting for real, it had to be Serena.

Lumina skidded across broken stone as she forced herself closer, her muscles and bones screaming. Her white exoskeleton hissing with molten orange cracks, heat crawling along her spine and shoulders as the moons hovered around Serena, each one at the tip of her tails.

“Wake up!” Lumina said through gritted teeth.

Serena didn’t answer.

Her eyes were void of warmth, silver pupils reflecting the moon as if they were nothing more than ornaments. The divine aura around her continued to swell, crushing Valkyries flat against the ground and some lost consciousness.

Lumina hated this strange Serena, which manifested after she slaughtered those nasty men in the throne room a month ago.

“I’m coming, sister!”

Lumina’s body flickered with the faint amount of divine aura she had.

She dropped her blades each in a unique position.

Tap!

When she pushed off the floor, all eight rapiers vanished in a flash of light. However, the moment her blades reached Serena’s face, delicate fingers spread, intercepting every one of her attacks.

“What are you doing?” Serena asked calmly, finally speaking.

The moons behind her vanished, gently waning until they vanished. She then curled her lips, showing an ethereal smile like a moonlight fairy. “Silly girl, you’ve helped me once again, thank you. Lumina.”

“Tsk, your mood swings are getting too dangerous. Why don’t you disguise yourself as Valkyrie and just stay beside him in secret?”

Serena’s ten tails fluffed up and spread out.

She opened her mouth like an “O” shape.

“Lumi, are you a genius?!”

Serena’s eyes widened before becoming so soft and watery.

Then, with a flicker of divine aura, she darted forward and hugged Lumina’s body, lifting her off the ground with a gleeful squeak.

“Can you hold on here? Can you do it without me, Lumina?”

Excitement gleamed in her eyes as the poor arachne shook her head with a slight frown before she sighed. “I’ll deal with it, but you must not let him find out. Husband will worry so much if he learns you’re there…”

“Even though I’m stronger?”

Serena tilted her head, playing cute while rolling Lumina’s hair around her fingers.

“…”

Lumina really couldn’t deal with this older sister of hers; she used the lessons from Asmodeus to grow stronger, using her massive amount of divine aura to reinforce her muscles and physical abilities, which brought terrifying results.

Though Lumina’s path also allowed her to grow explosively, the sneaky fox could use her skills to attain a power one step above hers.

“Hehe~ I love you, Lumi!”

Despite the terrifying event, none of the Valkyrie showed genuine fear or dissolution, because this happened constantly.

“Then you should prepare, Velvet will be leaving tonight.”

“Mm… but Lumina, are you sure?”

Serena’s eyes carried a hint of concern, because their secret plans would start soon, but before she could speak again, Lumina lifted her eight hands. “Sister, I plan to move the Valkyrie to Baltimore tonight.”

“Eh? Already?”

Although the Valkyrie reached a devastating strength so far, Serena didn’t plan to start their clash with the Mainland for a long time. She glanced at Lumina’s face, trying to examine and guess her reasons.

“I have built a secondary training facility, with overseas training spots in Baltimore, Sister.”

“I see, I see… after all, you’re so good.”

As much as Lumina respected and adored Serena. Serena also respected and admired Lumina’s desire to grow, surpass her limits and push forward.

“Then, make sure you don’t get hurt.”

“Mhm, take care of our husband for me, okay?” Lumina gave a bitter smile.

‘I wish I could see him… why did I give my idea to Serena?’

In the end, the chaotic scene vanished after an hour of repairs; thousands of Valkyries using magic could easily fix a few cracks, torn limbs and broken bones.
