Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 58: Make You Unable to Get Out of Bed
Jason Grant is temporarily out of danger.
But it’s uncertain when he’ll wake up, or if he’ll wake up at all.
Isn’t this the state of a vegetative person?
After hearing what the doctor said.
Vanessa Grant let out a sob and collapsed into Ansel Vaughn’s arms, crying uncontrollably.
Ansel Vaughn held her tightly, his expression was a touch complicated.
Natalie Kendall exhaled, her legs feeling weak and unsteady, her arm was also gripped by Isaac Vaughn, she turned her head and met his cold, deep eyes, pulling her arm out of his grasp.
She wasn’t sure how to react at this moment.
If Jason Grant doesn’t wake up, then the incident between her and Isaac Vaughn will be buried.
She didn’t know she could be such a cruel person, yet she felt a sense of relief at this moment.
The sword that was hanging over her head wouldn’t fall down now.
Beside her, Vanessa Grant wailed mournfully.
With her father still in the hospital, and now her brother becoming a vegetative state, she couldn’t withstand the blow and fainted in Ansel Vaughn’s arms while crying.
Ansel Vaughn was frightened, hurriedly holding her up.
"Mom!"
Isaac Vaughn was startled, quickly moving away from Natalie Kendall to join Ansel Vaughn in taking Vanessa Grant to the doctor for treatment.
By that time, Jason Grant was also pushed out, he still needed to be sent to the ICU for further observation.
"Are you the family member?" the nurse asked Natalie Kendall.
She glanced at Jason Grant beneath the oxygen mask.
The image of him from ten hours ago, furious and ranting, flashed through her mind.
She nodded gently towards the nurse, "Yes."
——
Jason Grant’s condition definitely needs to be concealed from Old Mr. Grant, otherwise, with his current health, he likely couldn’t bear it.
After Vanessa Grant awakened, Ansel Vaughn advised her to be strong, saying she couldn’t collapse at this moment.
He would contact doctors from Janton and abroad for a consultation on Jason Grant, hoping there might still be some chance.
Vanessa Grant nodded sorrowfully, looking at Natalie Kendall by the bedside, tears streaming uncontrollably again.
"Nat..."
Natalie Kendall stepped forward, offering her hand to Vanessa Grant.
Vanessa Grant held her hand, crying sorrowfully, "Your marriage with Jason was already being arranged, almost ready... how could it end up like this?"
Natalie Kendall lowered her eyes, unsure what to say.
With Jason Grant in the ICU, there’s medical staff monitoring him 24/7, not everyone needs to stay at the hospital.
Vanessa Grant asked Isaac Vaughn to take Natalie Kendall back.
Ansel Vaughn furrowed his brows, wanting to say something, but realized now wasn’t the right time, so he let it go.
Leaving the hospital, getting into the car.
The enclosed space filled with the faint scent of blood from Isaac Vaughn reached Natalie Kendall’s nose.
Though he had cleaned himself a bit, the smell lingered.
Isaac Vaughn noticed her frown, started the car while opening the window to let the smell out.
The incident with Jason Grant weighed heavily on both their minds.
Thus, one drove while the other stared idly out the window.
The entire journey passed in silence.
Upon reaching home, Isaac Vaughn entered the guestroom’s bathroom.
After showering and changing clothes, he had to return to the hospital.
Coming out of the room, while passing the living room, he noticed a new divorce agreement on the coffee table.
How many has she prepared?
Has she signed her name on every one of these?
With a grim expression, Isaac Vaughn strode towards the master bedroom, pushing the door open.
Natalie Kendall had been sleepless the entire night, was now preparing to catch up on rest.
Looking up and meeting his fierce gaze, she realized he had seen the divorce agreement she left in the living room.
"I’ve signed, if you sign, we can proceed with the divorce papers."
Isaac Vaughn had humbled himself severely, coaxing her for so long, yet she remained firm on divorcing.
His patience now exhausted, he spoke darkly, "Natalie Kendall, don’t believe I’ll lock you to the bed, making sure you can’t leave or go anywhere if you propose divorce again?"
Natalie Kendall was shocked he could say such beastly words.
Suppressing her heartache, she commanded coldly, "Get out!"
Isaac Vaughn laughed, not leaving but coming closer.
Kneeling on the bed, he grasped her jaw, "Little Ear, if I say it, I’ll do it, best not to provoke me."
Natalie Kendall gritted her teeth, "Isaac Vaughn, you bastard..."
Before she could finish her curse, he swallowed the rest.
Enraged, she bit his tongue, the taste of iron and blood overwhelmed her mouth.
Yet even that didn’t deter his beastly actions.
It was only after kissing her till tears welled up in her eyes that he released her, pressing his thumb against her lips.
His voice was cold, "Don’t provoke me again, can you do that?"
"Of course, even if you can’t, you must."
"Little Ear, be good, don’t make things difficult for yourself."
He didn’t say don’t make things difficult for him but for her.
Natalie Kendall’s lips pressed into a straight line.
——
Half a month later, Jason Grant’s condition stabilized, and Vanessa Grant moved him to a hospital in Janton.
Natalie Kendall also returned to Janton.
But as soon as she arrived in Janton, The Beckett family sent someone to pick her up.
It wasn’t Julian Beckett or Matthew Beckett.
It was Sebastian Beckett.
And since it was Sebastian Beckett, Isaac Vaughn couldn’t refuse letting her go.
"Remember to keep your phone charged and turned on, answer my calls, understand?"
When sending Natalie Kendall to the car, he reminded her.
Natalie Kendall didn’t reply, so he held the car door with a smile, preventing her from closing it.
To avoid him causing a scene publicly.
She had no choice but to nod with a cold expression.
Only then was Isaac Vaughn satisfied, closing the car door for her, watching her leave.
*
Sebastian Beckett took Natalie Kendall to Mount Corvix.
"Heard The Grant family’s boy became a vegetative state?"
While signing a pile of new documents, Natalie Kendall paused at his words, looking up to answer, "He’s been moved to Janton’s hospital, later there’ll be a consultation with experts abroad, there might be a chance for him to wake up."
"Still ruined," Sebastian Beckett said, handing over a new stack of photos to Natalie Kendall, "I said long ago that you should break off the engagement with The Grant family, now’s the perfect time. Come on, pick one."
"Grandfather."
"If you don’t choose, then we’ll arrange for you to meet each one," he said.
Natalie Kendall knew that if she didn’t pick, her grandfather would indeed arrange for her to meet each one.
She had no choice but to randomly pick one from the pile.
After looking, Sebastian Beckett commented, "Lucky pick. This one’s the most satisfying among them. Tomorrow, I’ll have someone call him out for you two to meet."
——
That night, Natalie Kendall stayed at Mount Corvix.
Just lying down, her phone rang.
She didn’t answer the first time, but it rang again for the second and third time in succession.
When it rang the fourth time, she answered.
Isaac Vaughn’s voice came through, "On purpose? Only answering after so many calls?"
"Little Ear, didn’t I tell you not to provoke me? From now on, answer my calls the first time, remember?"
Natalie Kendall remained silent.
Isaac Vaughn asked again, "How many days are you staying at Mount Corvix? Come out tomorrow."
Natalie Kendall held the phone, speaking calmly, "I have plans tomorrow."
"Oh? What plans?"
"Grandfather arranged for me to meet someone."
After Natalie Kendall finished speaking, the person on the other end of the phone audibly breathed heavily.
