Chapter 57: Chapter 57: They Actually Betrayed Him Together!

"Isaac?"

Jason Grant first saw Isaac Vaughn’s back.

Then he saw Natalie Kendall pinned beneath him, her hair and clothes disheveled, her face pale, but her lips red and swollen.

"You two..."

Jason was stunned for a few seconds.

When he snapped out of it, his eyes were bloodshot, his entire body trembling.

He was so furious he was on the verge of madness, unable to believe that Isaac and Natalie had actually gotten together!

Isaac was his nephew!

Natalie was his fiancée!

How could they?

How did they dare?

They actually betrayed him together!

Suddenly, the photo Jessica Vance sent him flashed through Jason’s mind.

Before, he would never have suspected Isaac.

But now, as he thought back, it made sense why, the first time he saw the photo, the blurry silhouette of the man kissing Natalie looked strangely familiar.

So that was it!

So damn it, it was Isaac!

Isaac released Natalie and stood up. Seeing she was still stunned on the sofa, he reached out and pulled her up into his arms.

Natalie let him move her without resistance; in reality her mind was blank, unable to cope with the situation.

"You two fucking—!"

Jason was losing his mind, pointing at Isaac. "Isaac, I am your uncle! You dare do this to me!"

Then he fiercely rebuked Natalie: "You bitch! Couldn’t you pick anyone else? You hooked up with my own family! How am I supposed to show my face now?"

What Jason cared about most was his reputation.

Of course.

He never loved her anyway.

Natalie came back to her senses.

She looked at Jason and said calmly, "We’re already over."

Isaac’s face darkened at her words.

"Over?" Jason’s eyes widened, and he laughed angrily. "Are you fucking kidding me? I just saw you two making out with my own eyes, and you tell me that’s ’over’?"

Right then, his sharp eyes noticed something thrown on the coffee table.

A feeling rose in his chest and he stepped forward to grab it.

His leg was still crippled, so his movement wasn’t that smooth.

If Isaac didn’t want him to see, he could’ve snatched it first.

But Isaac didn’t move.

When Natalie realized Jason was about to take the divorce agreement and tried to stop him, Isaac pressed her shoulder and held her back.

She turned in disbelief to look at Isaac’s face.

Was he mad too?

Isaac’s thin lips lifted in a slight smirk, his eyes cold enough to chill her to the bone.

Natalie realized Isaac was doing all this on purpose.

On purpose, letting Jason discover their affair.

Now he was also going to make Jason find out they’d already gotten married.

Jason, limping, went up and grabbed the divorce agreement.

As he read the contents, his eyes almost popped out of their sockets.

"You two! You actually got married!"

Wait!

If they’re married, then Natalie’s ten percent Beckett Group shares would be valid too, wouldn’t they?

Jason forced himself to calm down.

After all, all he ever wanted was Natalie’s shares, not Natalie herself.

Now that Natalie pulled a stunt like this, he could use it as a chance to ask the Beckett family for a fortune. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Before, they said they’d split the shares fairly, but now, he wanted it all!

Not just the Beckett family, but the Vaughn Residence too.

If his brother-in-law wanted to quiet the scandal of his son and his fiancée having an affair, he’d have to pay up as well.

They all owed him!

Thinking of this, Jason clenched the divorce agreement tightly, sneering at Natalie and Isaac. "Isaac, your uncle’s truly heartbroken by you. Today’s mess—we’re not finished."

With that, he turned and left, clutching the agreement.

"You!"

Natalie started to chase after him, wanting to snatch the agreement back, but as soon as she moved, Isaac grabbed her wrist.

Her face was ice-cold.

Isaac sat down on the sofa, raised an eyebrow at her, his smile ambiguous.

He hated losing control.

Between him and Natalie, things could be loose or tight, but the leash had to always be firmly in his hand.

Once Jason left the neighborhood, he called Ansel Vaughn.

"Hello, Jason?"

"Brother-in-law, I just came from Natalie’s place. Guess what I saw?"

On the other end, Ansel Vaughn’s expression changed; he gripped his phone tightly as a sense of dread welled up inside him.

Jason walked forward slowly, clenching his teeth and chuckling coldly, "Brother-in-law, I really wasn’t expecting it! I fucking saw Natalie making out with a guy! And that guy was Isaac!"

Ansel’s breathing grew heavy, his face turned livid.

He lowered his voice and decided to try soothing Jason for now.

"Jason, maybe there’s some misunderstanding?"

"Misunderstanding? I saw it with my own damn eyes! And those two are even married!"

Jason spoke as he stared down at the divorce agreement in his hand.

"Isaac, damn him! Out of all people, he chooses Natalie! That’s my fiancée!"

Ansel was at a loss for words.

With things at this point, Jason had lost his patience for pleasantries.

"Brother-in-law, so tell me—what do you plan to do?"

Ansel couldn’t possibly miss Jason’s implication.

The Grant family was almost ruined in Jason’s hands, and they’d already begged the Vaughns for help before.

But Ansel had known Jason was hopeless and not worth the Vaughn family making sacrifices.

But now, there was no choice.

Ansel’s voice was grave. "Jason, what do you want then?"

Jason smirked in satisfaction, "Me? Well, here’s what I’m thinking: all this is a family scandal, and family scandals shouldn’t be aired in public."

"Yes, Jason, Isaac did act recklessly. As his uncle, thank you for being so tolerant." Ansel forced his anger down, his tone gentle.

"But brother-in-law, justice is justice. Shouldn’t the Vaughn Residence offer me some compensation?"

Just as Jason finished his sentence, a blinding light shot up ahead and he instinctively raised his hand to shield his eyes.

Then the sound of screeching tires on pavement, followed by a loud "bang."

It was the dull thud of metal slamming into flesh, mixed with the harsh squeal of brakes.

Jason was thrown high into the air then crashed down.

It felt like all his bones shattered.

He lay in a pool of blood, twitching; his phone flew far away, and the divorce agreement was soaked and stained crimson by his own blood.

"Hello? Hello? Jason?"

Ansel called out over the phone several times without a response.

And the noises he’d heard right before Jason went silent made his palms break out in cold sweat.

He immediately gritted his teeth and dialed his son’s number.

——

Hospital.

The red light over the operating room was lit.

Jason was inside fighting for his life.

He was rushed in in a very bad state.

Whether he would survive was still unknown.

Half of Isaac was covered in blood, his face ghostly pale, his fingertips shaking as he fumbled in his pocket for a cigarette, but as soon as he put it to his lips, he remembered smoking wasn’t allowed here.

Ansel had fetched Vanessa Grant, and she’d already cried her eyes red and swollen on the way.

"How could this happen? Jason... How could this happen?"

Ansel wrapped his arm around her shoulder, his face grave and stern.

Once they arrived at the hospital, Vanessa saw the state Isaac was in and nearly fainted from fright.

Isaac told her the person who hit Jason with a car was a woman, who’d already been detained at the scene and was at the police station now.

The woman had once been Jason’s mistress and was even pregnant with his child—the very one who’d caused chaos at Jason and Natalie’s engagement party.

Later, Jason forced her to get an abortion; she lost the child, and because the operation was done at an illegal clinic, her body was damaged, leaving her infertile.

The woman held a grudge, stalking Jason for days, and today she intentionally hit him with her car.

The surgery lasted a full twelve hours before the red light finally went out.

The doors of the operating room opened, and the doctor walked out.

Everyone rushed up anxiously.
