Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 53: You Guys Are So Loud, You Woke Me Up
Inside the villa.
Natalie was being hugged from behind by Isaac, standing in front of the huge floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the view.
The scenery was truly amazing, and the view was fantastic.
"Let’s go soak in the hot spring tonight." Isaac kissed her ear, "Do you like it?"
Natalie nodded, saying she wanted to take a shower.
Just then, Isaac’s phone rang.
He kissed her hair as he let go, pulling out his phone to check the message.
It was a message from his mom, asking where he was.
He replied that he was at Franklin Finch’s resort.
His mom asked if he was there alone?
Isaac typed: [And your daughter-in-law.]
His mom didn’t reply again.
Isaac tossed his phone aside, turned on the TV, and started a game.
He was halfway through when the doorbell rang.
He threw down the controller and went to open the door.
The moment the door opened, Kiki rushed over and hugged his leg.
Kiki snuggled up affectionately, smiling sweetly.
Isaac braced himself against the doorframe, looking at his mom and aunt with a helpless smile.
"What’s going on?"
"Surprise inspection."
Vanessa snorted, taking the lead as she walked in.
To her, her son definitely had a "history" of cheating.
Sylvia walked in and patted Isaac on the shoulder.
Isaac sighed and bent down to pick up Kiki.
Vanessa looked all around and, not seeing anyone, turned to Isaac: "Where’s Dora? Weren’t you with her?"
Fletcher was Natalie’s biological mother’s surname, and Dora is from ’ear’.
Dora Fletcher was Natalie’s other identity—the wife on Isaac’s marriage certificate.
As soon as Vanessa finished speaking, the bedroom door opened.
Unaware of what was happening outside, Natalie came out freshly showered, hair wrapped in a towel, wearing a bathrobe, and a facial mask.
At the sudden sight of Vanessa, Sylvia, and Kiki, she froze in shock.
Kiki excitedly signed to her: Sister-in-law.
Natalie went rigid, unable to move.
Fortunately, with the mask on, her features couldn’t be seen clearly.
Snapping back, she spun around, turning her back to everyone.
Vanessa curled her lip: "No manners? Won’t say hello when you see people?"
Isaac stepped toward Natalie, put his arm around her shoulders, and smiled, "Scared?"
Natalie turned and met his gaze, pure panic shining in her eyes.
Isaac’s smile didn’t fade. He squeezed her shoulder, soothing her.
He turned to Vanessa and Sylvia, saying, "I’ll go help her change, then we’ll be out. You two sit first."
With that, he led Natalie into the room.
Vanessa complained, "Not a child anymore, still needs help changing clothes."
But honestly, she felt a little relieved inside.
At least this one was the real wife on the marriage license, not some random woman from outside.
She waved to Sylvia, "Sylvia, let’s sit."
Sylvia nodded, but the look she gave the room was meaningful.
Inside the room.
Natalie sat on the bed expressionless, having washed the mask off her face.
Isaac was making a call, asking Franklin Finch to send over an outfit for his female companion, as dramatic as possible.
After hanging up, he turned to look at Natalie, who was sulking. He sighed and squatted in front of her.
Natalie stared at him, her gaze cold and resistant.
Isaac pinched her nose, "What are you afraid of? It’s not the first time. Haven’t you always done well before? They won’t recognize you."
Natalie shoved him hard without warning.
Isaac fell on his butt, his face darkening.
Franklin Finch came in through the back door to deliver the clothes.
When the clothes were laid out on the bed, Natalie’s face was indescribably awful.
The look she gave Isaac was pure hate.
Isaac hadn’t expected this either.
Franklin Finch had brought a cosplay outfit.
A bunny maid costume.
He held it up to size her, and she smacked it away hard.
Natalie gritted her teeth, "Isaac, if you dare force me to wear this, I’ll..."
"Don’t wear it, then go out like this." Isaac tossed the clothes back on the bed and hugged her, "How about it?"
No way she could walk out like that.
He knew it was impossible, yet said it on purpose.
Natalie’s eyes welled up. As he pressed his lips to hers, her whispered "You bastard" disappeared between their mouths.
*
Getting changed took almost an hour with all the stalling.
Vanessa was losing her patience, but when she saw the person her son brought out, her eyes nearly popped out.
Every time, a new low!
This time it wasn’t pink hair and sunglasses, nor blue with a face mask—it’s a bunny maid in full makeover.
Vanessa practically fainted from rage, didn’t even say a word and got up to leave.
Sylvia walked over.
Kiki excitedly signed to Natalie: Bunny, so cute!
Sylvia picked up her daughter, glanced at Natalie and Isaac, hesitated, then turned to leave as well.
"Crisis averted." Isaac hugged Natalie, "Franklin invited me to play ball later."
"Go by yourself. I have to do a side job."
Natalie pushed his arm off her shoulders, turned to her room, slammed and locked the door.
Obviously, she didn’t want him in, didn’t want to see him.
Later, Franklin called to rush him. Isaac knocked on the door and said he was leaving, but got no response.
——
That night, Isaac came back and saw Natalie sleeping soundly, slumped over her desk.
Her computer was still on, and papers covered in English words were scattered on the floor.
She’d obviously worked herself to exhaustion and fallen asleep.
He bent to pick up the papers and tidied them, then picked her up and put her to bed, tucking her in under the covers.
"Isaac."
Sylvia’s voice came from outside.
Isaac knew his aunt wanted to talk.
He stroked Natalie’s hair, fingers drifting from her hair to her ear, and casually took off her hearing aid.
Isaac sprawled on the sofa, grinning at his aunt, "What did you want to say?"
Sylvia looked toward the bedroom.
Isaac raised the hearing aid in his hand, voice flippant, "She’s asleep. The little deaf girl can’t hear without this. Say whatever you want."
Sylvia was annoyed with his careless attitude, and said coldly, "Isaac, it’s still not too late to stop. You really think you two won’t get found out?"
"Haven’t been found out, right?" Isaac drawled lazily, "Relax, as long as I’m with her, she’s always ’Dora Fletcher’. No one will ever know she’s Natalie."
Sylvia, hearing this, snapped in disbelief, "Are you really crazy? Nothing stays secret forever! Besides, is this how you’re going to treat Natalie? You don’t plan to stay with her long-term? So you just want her to always act as ’Dora Fletcher’? How could she keep this up forever?"
"She’s willing."
Isaac said it, but there was an undercurrent of irritation in his eyes.
It wasn’t like he wanted it this way.
But compared to him, Natalie was the one more unwilling to be exposed.
"She’s willing?" Sylvia was stunned.
"She’s very obedient. No one loves her, she’s starving for affection. Give her a little love, she’ll do whatever you say."
Right after Isaac said this, he saw Sylvia’s gaze shift behind him, her expression complicated.
Feeling something was off, he turned abruptly and saw Natalie barefoot in the bedroom doorway, quietly watching them.
His heart seized up for a moment, and his fingers clenched around something sharp.
Looking down, it was the hearing aid.
Her hearing aid.
In that instant, his heart eased.
Without her hearing aid, she couldn’t hear.
He exhaled in relief and signed: Why are you awake?
Natalie looked at Isaac and said calmly, "You two were so loud, you woke me up."
