Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 52: Cooperate a Little More. Little Ear, Be Good
He asked him if he recognized him?
Isaac Vaughn’s lips curled into a cold sneer.
Natalie saw his expression was off and signed to him: What’s wrong?
He pulled her hand with the bracelet up to his lips and kissed it, then said to Jason Grant on the other end of the call, "I think... you do look familiar. Uncle Jason, I’ll let you know when I remember."
"Alright. Isaac, try to remember as quickly as you can. The moment you do, call me right away."
Isaac hung up and texted Franklin Finch back, telling him not to worry about this matter.
Franklin Finch: [WTF! Nearly scared me to death! Your uncle Jason is after your side dude. What are you gonna do?]
Isaac’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Natalie asked him again what happened.
"Nothing."
He started the car and drove her to her part-time job.
——
Natalie worked more than four hours, and it was already dark when she came out from her part-time gig.
As soon as she walked out, she spotted Isaac’s car.
He was actually still there.
She walked over quickly, stood outside the driver’s seat, and stared at him in disbelief.
The window rolled down slowly. Isaac leaned his arm on the window and smiled, "What are you staring at? Get in."
Natalie circled around and got into the passenger seat, smelling a heavy scent of smoke on him.
"You didn’t leave? You’ve been waiting here for me?"
"What else?"
"It’s been over four hours."
"Yeah." Isaac leaned over, pulled the seatbelt across for her, and pinched her chin. "So start thinking about how you’re gonna reward me tonight."
Natalie gave him a little smile.
The two went back home.
As soon as Isaac changed his shoes and put her slippers down by her feet, Natalie threw her arms around him in a big hug.
"So proactive?"
He could easily wrap his arm around her slim waist with one hand, lifted her up and sat her on the shoe cabinet, and reached down to take off her shoes.
It had been a few days.
Natalie kind of missed it too.
She reached out, grabbed him by the collar, and pulled him toward herself. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
To Isaac, that was real, proper seduction.
He picked her up from the shoe cabinet, their noses brushing, "Why are you suddenly so clingy? Hm? Looks like you really missed me."
Natalie’s face went a bit red; she hugged his neck and snuggled into his arms.
Isaac carried her into the bedroom and fell onto the bed with her.
"I haven’t showered yet," Natalie protested softly.
Isaac propped himself up on both sides of her body, the veins almost popping out on his forehead from holding back.
"Then why did you flirt so hard?"
He lowered his head and kissed her hard, "Little fox."
But only a little while later, Natalie started whining that she was tired.
Isaac could only laugh out of frustration.
"No one like you, Little Ear."
"But I’m really tired, I swear."
Isaac had to be patient, coaxing her gently and softly: "Just cooperate a little more. Little Ear, be good."
Natalie couldn’t help it and could only agree.
*
Everything settled down.
Isaac carried her for a bath.
She was like a baby, motionless, letting him do whatever he wanted.
Isaac had planned to just let her sleep like that, but then he scooped her up and realized she was quietly crying.
He panicked and held her close, asking what was wrong.
"Isaac Vaughn, you bastard." She cursed between tears, and her stomach let out a huge "growl."
She hadn’t had dinner yet and got tossed around by him for several hours—of course she was starving.
Turns out, she was crying because she was hungry.
He thought he’d made her cry.
Isaac was caught between laughing and crying.
He apologized sincerely first, then dashed off to cook noodles in the kitchen.
When the water was boiling, he turned around and saw her standing pitifully at the doorway, peeking in.
Isaac walked over, leaning down for a kiss—but she swatted his face away, not letting him kiss her.
She stared eagerly at the noodles, bright sparkles in her eyes.
Isaac’s heart melted. He patted her hair and said, "It’ll be ready soon."
Once she’d finished the noodles, Natalie was revived at last.
Isaac held a cigarette in his mouth, watching her satisfied little face.
He was about to light it, but after thinking for a second, put the cigarette aside.
There were some things.
She didn’t bring them up, and neither did he.
But just because they weren’t mentioned didn’t mean they didn’t exist.
"What do you think about your grandpa asking you to break off the engagement with the Grant family? Are you going to agree?"
Isaac picked up the cigarette he’d put down, lit it, and took a drag. "Anyway, I’m telling you right now—don’t even think about a wedding. Not gonna happen."
Natalie picked up her empty bowl and went to wash it in the sink.
The sound of running water and scrubbing dishes was especially piercing in the quiet space.
Isaac squinted, blowing out a smoke ring, watching her thin back.
"At first, it was your parents and your brother forcing you. Fine, you couldn’t fight back. But now you have your grandpa standing up for you. What are you hesitating about?"
He walked over and hugged her from behind. "What are you afraid of? Aren’t I here?"
He paused, then added, "If you’re really scared, then just don’t do anything. I’ll handle everything."
Natalie turned around in his arms, looking up into his eyes.
For a long moment, she finally spoke: "Give me a little time."
Isaac raised his eyebrows. "And what are you gonna do with that time?"
She didn’t answer.
He was helpless with her.
All he could do was hug her fiercely into his chest and nip her ear. "Fine, you want time? You’ve got it. But I’m warning you, I won’t wait forever."
"Come with me to the resort tomorrow for a couple of days. No refusing."
——
The owner of the resort was Franklin Finch’s uncle. He knew they were coming and specially arranged the biggest, best-view villa for them.
As soon as the shuttle had dropped off Isaac, Natalie, and Franklin at the villa, Vanessa Grant and Sylvia Vaughn arrived with Kiki in tow.
They’d come at the invitation of Franklin’s mom—Franklin himself had no idea about it.
The butler leading them to their villa said that Isaac Vaughn was staying next door.
Vanessa was surprised to hear that her son was here too.
The butler said, "Young Master Vaughn came together with the lady."
