Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent-Chapter 249
Chapter 249: Chapter 249
"It was nice meeting you", Aaron spoke as he shook his hand, getting ready to leave.
He got something that can secure his secrets from prying eyes. Now, he doesn’t to worry about some powerful awakener seeing his status using some unknown methods.
Though he has no idea such a thing existed, knowing about it and at the same time having a solution for that was so much better.
He would have been happy even if he got only that, but he was also able to get a few more items, items that are helpful for his parents, which made him even happier than before, but now he has to return to the academy.
He has left Duskmist City some time ago, and he has failed to return for a long time, which might become an unnecessary issue. He wanted to avoid such issues.
As Aaron reached the door, he stopped and turned around. "What if I have items that I need to get rid of immediately, but you are far away? How can I contact you?" he asked.
Jay smiled and took out a card and gave it to him.
Aaron took the card, thinking that it had his contact information, but the card was just a white card with a Bird symbol on it. Nothing more.
Also, the card felt like metal, not as if made of paper, which made Aaron confused.
Seeing the confused face, Jay chuckled, "If you send mana into the bird, the card activates. Once activated, you can use it to sell me items or buy items that I have, no matter the distance", he revealed the importance of the card.
Hearing those words, Aaron was surprised.
It was like teleportation, but limited to items. This kind of power was something not many would have seen in their lives. Even Aaron didn’t, as the teleportation technology was still at the starting stages.
Not many places were covered by that, and even access is limited to those who can use such technology.
So, Aaron was surprised to hear about what the card can do, as he had never heard of such a thing before in his life. He might hear about the technology sooner rather than later, with how powerful he was growing.
When he grows stronger, access to such technology might have been opened, but there was still time for that, and before that happened, Jay happened.
"Haha, as I said before, I am a Special Merchant, but make sure to keep this a secret. The alliance is not as good as one would think. It was not just those cults or bandits or the slavers that one has to be aware of", Jay warned.
Many would only see the Cults as the only human culprits who would do anything and sacrifice anything. The bandits would kill and loot, while slavers would kidnap and sell fellow humans as slaves or for some test subjects.
All of this was because they were greedy, but those are not the only ones that are greedy.
There are many who would appear as they stand on the Righteous side, but they do almost everything that those criminal elements do, for the same benefits that those criminals are doing those evil acts for.
They may keep their hands clean while under observation in settlements, but while in the wild, many of the righteous faction members have committed as many crimes as the ones branded evil by society.
The only difference would be that they left no witness or evidence to tie the crime to them, or their family is powerful enough to erase such evidence.
There are many incidents where someone was killed in the wild for some resources.
Though there was no evidence left behind, that doesn’t mean people don’t have doubts regarding that, as the alliance just can’t take action against someone just because one has a feeling that the person has committed the crime.
Even though there are no actions, people kind of become afraid of some powerful houses. They would avoid teaming with those houses on purpose.
It was for that very reason that Aaron decided to keep his talent a secret at the start, as he feared that it might entice greed or envy even among ones that won’t go out to kill fellow humans.
Greed and envy can make things that people don’t want to do.
Aaron agreed to keep the card a secret and would only take it out when needed, and would do so in private.
This time, he said goodbye and left the hotel.
---
Aaron first sent the items that he had brought for his parents through the parcel service. After that, he returned to the academy.
He informed Lyanna about his return before he went to his dorm house to freshen up.
Once he had his breakfast, he went straight to the library. There was something he needed to know, but he couldn’t look for it for days.
It was what happened with that Skeleton King in Duskmist City.
In that city, he has no access to search about such a matter as he was busy with the increased work load for two days before he was called to appear before the council.
It acted as if it knew him, but he was just an awakener who awakened his profession more than a year ago.
It said that he has finally returned, as if it was waiting for a lot of years and he has a feeling that it was not one or two years, probably not even a decade or so, when it uttered those words.
It also said by chance or on purpose that it would return when he gains his memories and summons it. This means it has been waiting to be properly summoned by him.
If they hadn’t known each other, why would such a creature say those words? It was already here, but whatever it wanted to do, for someone, it couldn’t do. There should be some kind of restriction, and to remove that, he has to summon it properly.
Aaron wanted to know what kind of creature that was and what its purpose was for waiting to be summoned by only him. The best place to find any answer was the Academy’s Library.
If he can’t find answers here, the only place where he could possibly find an answer would be the Alliance’s Knowledge Hub or personal archives of the Human Gods.
He has neither the rank to access the Hub nor connections to check the archives.
So, he hopes that he can find something in the library books or he may have to wait for a long time.
