Yang Qing mentioning the contract openly and promptly at that, was a deliberate ploy on his part. He wanted to gauge the reaction of the newcomers. While the parties present were made up of seasoned experts capable of concealing their emotions well, he still managed to glean something from it, which if his analysis was right, at least reduced the weight of what would happen next when the other parties arrived.

It would not be too long with Xia Ting having already informed Yu Gen that she was headed to the last location, making it here would be easy since she could use a large distance teleportation talisman.

That talisman was what Yu Gen had used to make it back as fast as he did. It wasn’t that long since Fan Cai arrived at the Order to seek their assistance. If Yang Qing had to guess, it was no more than two hours since his arrival and in that time Yu Gen had already reached the Starlight Lake Sect, met with their leaders, explained the matter, and brought them back.

No matter how fast a palace realm cultivator was, it was next to impossible for them to do all that in just two hours. A domain expert might, or a peak stage palace realm expert with a special bloodline that granted them innate abilities related to speed or even space, like Mo Liwei, one of the judges who had accompanied when he delivered the demotion sentence at Ice Emerald Sect. Mo Liwei had the bloodline of a silver roc.

This content is taken from freёnovelkiss.com.

Rocs were mythical beings at the same level as dragons and phoenixes, and their forte lay in speed. Rocs were born with bodies that could freely move in the void realm hence their speed.

While Mo Liwei wasn’t a pure-blooded roc, he could still manipulate the void to a point that gave him tremendous speed. Someone like him, but with a higher cultivation base, maybe at the late stages of the palace realm, could have made the trip Yu Gen had made in that timeframe without the need for the use of teleportation talismans.

Teleportation talismans were made from void stones and could only be made by a gold-grade talisman master with a good understanding of space. While all domain experts had some understanding of it, not all could translate said understanding into talismans.

This was like asking someone like Bolin to teach alchemy and botany because of innate abilities when it came to poisons and detoxification or asking Haishi to teach people how to break through illusions because she had an innate gift in illusions.

Both of them couldn’t do it. What they knew was innate, similar to how humans could see but didn’t know the mechanisms of how they could do that.

The same thing applies to domain experts. Once one broke through to the domain realm, they would gain an innate understanding of space as it is a prerequisite of establishing their domain.

Despite having never actively studied it, every domain expert knew how to manipulate space but those who could convert it to a form like talismans or other transmissible forms were those who knew it deeply enough to teach it.

This was what made the teleportation talismans so precious. It required void stones which were hard to come by since you could only acquire them in the void domain and secondly, it required the hands of a skilled gold-grade talisman who happened to be skilled with space manipulation to the point that they could transcribe it onto a talisman.

Space was one of the supreme Daos, so its difficulty need not be mentioned. As filled with talents as the Order was, not even they had that many experts talented with it and talisman experts at that.

This was why barring special circumstances, the use of teleportation talismans was restricted to certain parameters, one of which was walk-in cases. As for emergencies such as life and death situations, it was forbidden to use them because of how fragile and volatile they were.

The talismans worked by tearing through space and linking two nodes in the void. The void was a highly temperamental and unstable region and any small interference could produce unexpected situations. If one was locked in a fight, using the void as an escape route was about the last thing they should do. They were better off surviving through other means and if they had to use teleportation, they were safer using the main teleportation arrays at the branches, which had been stabilized to be of use even in explosive situations without risk that the user would get trapped in the void or worse.

...

Yang Qing having gotten what he wanted, played the part of the dutiful host and arbitror as he welcomed the three guests.

"You can take the seats on this side as we wait for our next guests to arrive," Yang Qing said as he pointed toward his left side which was where Fan Cai was seated.

Fan Cai’s eyes lit up slightly before he lowered them, looking slightly embarrassed as he did, especially when he saw the elderly man smile at his reaction.

"He looks so much like you, Sister Ha," said the elderly man addressing the grey-haired lady with the simple but elegant demeanor.

"Please don’t tease me, brother Jiayi," said the grey-haired lady as she sighed.

The other lady with the radiant phoenix eyes and the elderly man as if having previously discussed, let the grey-haired lady move first, and while the radiant phoenix-eyed lady was covert about her intentions, the elderly man didn’t seem to hold such reservations.

"Sister Ha, why don’t you sit next to him. Mother and son haven’t seen each other for quite some time. You should take advantage of the moment and don’t pretend. My eyes may not work as well as they used to, but I can still see some things with great clarity," the elderly man said as he smiled cheekily.

"What do you think, kid," he added, prompting Fan Cai to further lower his head, though he did look up furtively, the desire in them, clear to all.

The grey haired lady sighed once more before finally walking over. The seats were all single person seats, but as she was walking over, Yang Qing subtly snapped his fingers and Fan Cai’s seat expanded into a two person seat.

The grey haired lady subtly turned her face toward Yang Qing, wearing a helpless smile, before finally moving to the seat Fan Cai was on.
