Daily life of a cultivation judge-Chapter 989: Meeting of the parties (1)
Time seemed to have stood still for Fan Cai as that door opened, and a silhouette appeared within its shadows.
His heart seemed to have moved from his chest all the way to his ears, its drumming tune giving life to the fear within him in every single part of his body.
The silhouette was no longer a silhouette, as the defined form of a human appeared. His eyes not blinking, his ears ringing, his body hot, and his stomach rumbling, the image of the first person came into view.

It was a man, a young man with silver hair with a unique temperament that informed Fan Cai’s current heightened senses that he was an expert.
But alas he wasn’t the person Fan Cai so desperately wanted to see, so he quickly moved his attention from him. He wasn’t even able to hear the words that person spoke as he walked in, only that he seemed to be addressing Yang Qing.
To the current Fan Cai with how tense he was, his ears felt like they had been submerged in water where sounds were involved.
For the life of him, he couldn’t hear anything. His body didn’t seem like it was able to support it at the moment and he had a feeling it couldn’t support talking either.
The only part of him that seemed to be working was his eyes. His unblinking eyes trembled slightly when he saw that the person who came after the silver-haired man was a woman.
Even before seeing her face, with how focused he was, he could immediately tell from the little bit of shoulder that appeared from behind the silver-haired man that it was a woman.
Alas when her full body appeared through the door, it turned out just like the silver-haired man from before she wasn’t the person Fan Cai was nervously holding his breath for.
She was similar to the woman he was anxiously looking for. The similarity wasn’t in their face, though the woman before him was just as beautiful as the woman he was looking for. Both had the same nation-toppling beauty, but the similarity both had lay in their temperaments.
That indomitable and persevering presence that seemed would remain unshaken even if everything around it were to collapse into absolute chaos.
It was a presence he had grown to admire in that woman. It was one of the few things he admired about her and the lady before him had that too.
The lady before him looked to be in her late forties, an aloof beauty. She wore deep black robes with purple colored linings and had black hair tied simply with a ribbon with radiant phoenix eyes. She had the air of someone who wielded great authority in their hands, whilst at the same time bore the look of someone who realized the weight of it.
As she walked in, Fan Cai’s gaze like that of a predator desperately seeking out its prey quickly moved behind her where another person was walking in.
That wasn’t the person he was urgently looking for either. For one it was a man. It wasn’t long before his entire visage was revealed, much to the celebration of Fan Cai since it meant that the person behind him would soon make an appearance.
The man walking in was old. He was slender, and looked to be in his eighties filled with white hair from his hair that was neatly tied in a daoist top knot to his beard that had reached his stomach. He wore simple gray robes that matched his unassuming air. He was like the manifestation of a gentle wind.
But despite how unassuming his aura seemed to be, there were a few things that made him stand out even to the anxious nervous wreck that was Fan Cai.
One of those things that stood out of o Fan Cai was his contradiction. With how thin he was, he looked more bones than meat with his sunken eyes, protruded cheeks, and straw-like hands, however, his eyes had a contained power that didn’t look like it belonged to a body so frail that shone with boundless wisdom.
He didn’t seem like a simple old man as his aura seemed to suggest, however, with Fan Cai’s current priorities, he was in no mood to analyze it further as something else had completely swallowed his mind and attention.
Without even seeing the silhouette of the person behind the old man, his body instantly knew that the person he was anxiously waiting for was that one.
His lips started trembling, his heart upped its tempo threatening to bust out of his chest with how wildly it was thumping, while his eyes, the one body part that had not failed him yet looked to be joining its colleagues as it started becoming blurry.
Fan Cai mustered whatever strength he had to try and clean it, get it to see better, but it was doomed to be a fruitless task as his vision seemed to get only blurier with every wipe of the hand.
Eventually, he gave up. His hands didn’t seem to have the strength for the task, and his eyes seemed rather obstinate. He threw in the towel and worked with it as is.
The only good thing was with his eyes failing, his heart seemed to be calming down somewhat which in turn affected his mind which in turn improved the functionality of his other senses. The first sense to be impacted was his nose.
"That smell.. That smell, uniform yet distinctive.. it’s HER..."
A smell he had long forgotten was instantly triggered and dug up from the recesses of his mind and soul.
"IT’S HER!" Fan Cai’s mind instantly roared as the fourth person made an appearance. It was a woman, the woman he had been desperately waiting for.
The woman he greatly resented, yet greatly admired. A woman who terrified him, yet he felt the safest around. A woman he fantasized about never being around her, yet when it did happen, all he could think about was he wanted to be around her one more time, even if she were scolding him and berating him as she usually did.
"She’s okay," he softly muttered as tears streamed down his face with his gaze locked on the lady who had just walked in and looked stricken with emotion like him.
She stood there at the door frozen in place with her gaze locked on Fan Cai with countless emotions flashing in her light grey eyes, with the biggest of said emotion being disbelief.
"Hey, mother," Fan Cai said, his face colored with tears and a wide innocent smile filled with gladness and relief as he addressed the lady who looked to be in her late forties with light grey hair tied in a bun, and matching robes.
"Cai’er,..." She said, pausing with disbelief written all over her face.
"What are you doing here? Is this all because of you?" She added, her voice sounding worried but more surprised than anything.
"Why?" she asked, as another emotion took over. It was the worry.
"You promised to come and you didn’t. You’re not one to break promises, so I had to look for you," Fan Cai said still wearing that innocent smile of relief and happiness.
"You’re not mad, are you?" He asked as he slightly lowered his gaze but was still transfixed on her.
The lady stared at him for a while before finally sighing in defeat.
"I should have known you’d do something like this, just like him," she said, her gaze flashing briefly with tenderness before it turned solemn as she moved from the door.
As she walked over the door behind her closed, signalling she was the last person in.
"Now that two parts of the equation are here, we should have sitting arrangements.."
Yang Qing’s voice broke the attention of the mother-son duo and the rest as it centered on him.
With a wave of his sleeves, his office seemed to expand as it doubled in size. The rectangular table seemed to have expanded accordingly as more single seats appeared seemingly out of thin air.
Yang Qing stood up from where he had been sitting and moved to the left-width side of the table where there were three seats placed there.
The silver-haired man moved over to one of those three seats.
"Thanks, brother Yu Gen," Yang Qing said to the silver haired man who nodded in return.
Yang Qing then promptly turned his attention to the two women and the elderly man who’s attention were also on him.
"It’s a pleasure to meet you all, my name is Yang Qing, and as I’m sure as my colleague has told you, the reason you’re here today is because of Fan Cai and .." Yang Qing placed his palm upward as the contract Fan Cai had handed him gently floated into his hands.
"This contract here," he added as held the contract making sure its contents faced the new incomers.
