Daddy, You Got The Wrong Mommy-Chapter 290: Don’t Contact Me Anymore
Upon hearing Hunter’s words, Damon Hawke paused for a moment, "Uncle Hunter, he did it to keep a secret of his own, but I promised him I wouldn’t reveal this secret to the public. I’m sorry."
He committed murder for hire to keep his secret.
This James Lee truly deserves to die.
Hunter’s expression darkened slightly, "I understand. Since you won’t tell me, I won’t force you."
Damon Hawke pondered for a moment, "Uncle Hunter, all I can say is, there are no eternal secrets. One day, some truths will come to light."
Just like with Lina Quinn’s case back then, who would have thought that seventeen years later, they would uncover the true cause of her death?
As for the matter between James Lee and Gavin Miles, who knows if anyone else is aware?
Whether there’s a mastermind behind James Lee, only time will tell.
"Well, at least Claire’s case has been clarified."
Hunter sighed and then hung up the phone.
He walked to the bookshelf, took out an album, flipped to a photo, a hint of warmth flashed in his eyes.
Claire, if you know this in your resting place, you can finally be at peace.
Evelyn Miles’ bedroom.
Eleanor Shaw opened the door and entered, finding Evelyn scrolling through her phone.
She was smiling, indicating she was in a good mood.
Eleanor secretly sighed and walked over to her side.
"Samantha, what are you looking at?"
"Just browsing, Mom. Does this wedding dress look nice? Wouldn’t I be stunning in it?"
Evelyn was longing to marry Damon Hawke, thus looking through wedding dress photos.
Eleanor couldn’t bear it, took away her phone, and made her look at her.
"Samantha, there’s something I need to tell you, you can’t marry Damon Hawke, he is our adversary."
On hearing this, Evelyn’s smile faded.
"Mom, what do you mean?"
Eleanor didn’t hide it from her, "You know, the man who always worked for your Uncle, James Lee, committed suicide today. Why did he die? Because seventeen years ago, he killed Elara Don’s biological mother, Lina Quinn, in a hit-and-run."
Upon hearing this, Evelyn was slightly taken aback, staring at Eleanor, waiting for her to continue.
Eleanor went on, "Actually, Damon Hawke has been investigating the cause of Elara Don’s mother’s death, but he pretended nothing was wrong and stayed close to you."
"Samantha, Damon Hawke didn’t truly want to reconcile with you; he has been using you, hoping to find some clue through you. I don’t think he’s really broken up with Elara Don; he’s just deliberately covering it up."
Eleanor’s words made Evelyn’s chest heave.
"Impossible! I don’t believe it! Tom did break up with Elara Don! Besides, what could be discovered from me? I’m not related to James Lee; what could she find from me?"
Eleanor must be exaggerating.
How could Damon Hawke not genuinely want to reconcile with her?
His attitude toward her had already returned to what it used to be.
"Samantha, I’ve told you, James Lee worked for your Uncle. There are things we don’t want you to know, but it’s all for your good."
Eleanor was anxious to reveal the truth to Evelyn.
But she feared she couldn’t handle it.
After all, Evelyn always thought she was Hunter’s daughter.
What if she found out that her mother had an affair with her Uncle and her existing mental illness worsened?
Evelyn stared blankly at Eleanor, digesting her words.
"Mom, could Elara Don’s mother’s death have something to do with Uncle?"
James Lee always worked for Uncle, while Damon Hawke wanted to get close to her?
Does this mean that Elara Don’s mother’s death is connected to her Uncle?
"Shh, keep your voice down, don’t let your dad hear."
Eleanor hurriedly covered Evelyn’s mouth, "Pretend you don’t know about this. Samantha, listen to Mom, stop dreaming about becoming the Hawke Family’s young wife. Tomorrow, I’ll find you someone better than Damon Hawke."
Hearing this, Evelyn pulled Eleanor’s hand away.
"Mom, no one is better than Tom. I don’t want to meddle in your generation’s affairs, nor do I believe Tom approached me with impure intentions. Yes, I’ll call him right now."
She was determined to marry Damon Hawke and couldn’t possibly break up with him so easily.
She wanted to ask Damon Hawke if he truly wanted to reconcile with her.
"Samantha, don’t act impulsively. What are you going to say to Damon Hawke?"
Eleanor watched as Evelyn recklessly dialed the phone, looking anxious.
Evelyn dodged Eleanor’s attempt to grab the phone, didn’t answer, and directly dialed Damon Hawke’s number.
The phone rang again and again, and finally, it was answered.
Evelyn immediately called out, "Tom."
"What’s wrong?"
The man’s calm voice came through the receiver.
Evelyn spoke softly, "Nothing much, just that tomorrow I need to go to the cultural center to discuss a contract, will you accompany me?"
"Sorry, Samantha, I’m unavailable tomorrow."
He said he was unavailable.
Evelyn tightened her grip on the phone and continued, "Then let’s have dinner together tomorrow?"
Upon hearing this, Damon Hawke paused and said, "Samantha, I think it’s important to clarify, I won’t reconcile with you, don’t contact me in the future."
The sound dropped, and the call was disconnected.
Evelyn tried calling twice, listening to the beeping sound in the receiver, her chest heaving violently.
He said he wouldn’t reconcile with her!
He said not to contact him anymore?
So, it’s really like Mom said, he deliberately stayed close to her to find a breakthrough, to investigate Elara Don’s mother’s cause of death?
Now that Elara Don’s mother’s death has been clarified, he no longer wants any association with her!
Evelyn’s face changed repeatedly, suddenly screaming, frantically smashing things in the room.
Eleanor stood by, shocked and anxious, repeatedly shouted, "Samantha, don’t be upset! Where are your medications?"
"I’m not sick, what meds? Why would he do this to me? It’s definitely not because I’m sick! Tom, I’m really not ill, I want to marry you, I want to marry you!"
Evelyn shouted loudly, desperately smashing the furniture in the room.
Eleanor tried to calm her down, but Evelyn’s state was beyond persuasion.
The commotion even alarmed Hunter.
He pushed open the door, nearly hit by something Evelyn threw.
He deftly avoided it and, seeing the mess on the floor, was startled.
"Eleanor, what’s going on with Samantha? Why is she so angry?"
"It’s okay, just a little upset, you go back to your room, I’ll comfort her."
Eleanor forced a smile, tightly holding Evelyn’s hand.
She had always kept Evelyn’s illness a secret from Hunter.
Later, when Evelyn’s condition stabilized, she was even more reluctant to tell Hunter.
She never expected Evelyn to suddenly act out today.
