Daddy, You Got The Wrong Mommy-Chapter 240: Who Could It Be
"Auntie, you can’t talk about Mommy like that. Mommy must be innocent."
Dominic Hawke had a cool expression on his face as he looked at Vinny Hawke and spoke.
"Bad auntie!"
Bea’s eyes were red. He wiped the corner of his eye with his hand, struggling to hold back his tears.
Vinny Hawke was speechless, glaring at the two children, unable to say a word.
Bea turned away from her, looking towards the Hawke elders, "Grandpa and Grandma, Mommy is the best person in the world. Please find a way to save her!"
Upon hearing this, Madam Hawke hugged the two children.
"Don’t worry, we’ll talk about it when your dad returns."
They had already asked around, and this situation was more serious than usual, not something easily resolved with connections.
At this moment, Damon Hawke walked in.
"Dad, Mom, Sis."
Damon greeted each person in turn.
The two little ones saw him come back and their eyes lit up as they ran towards him.
"Dad, you’re back. Hurry and rescue Mommy."
Damon looked down, meeting his two sons’ expectant gazes, and reached out to ruffle their hair.
"I will. Don’t worry, don’t go back today. Go upstairs and rest first."
The two little ones exchanged a glance, their eyes still filled with worry.
"Alright, Charlie, Bea, trust your dad. He will definitely rescue your mommy. Grandma will accompany you upstairs to rest."
Madam Hawke stood up, signaling the two children to follow her upstairs.
The two little ones looked at Damon, wanting to say something but hesitated.
Damon gave them a reassuring smile, urging them to follow Madam Hawke upstairs.
"Tom, you must be back from the police station, right? What do you think now? Have you figured out the whole story?"
Elder Hawthorne looked at Damon and asked.
"Is there even any need to ask? Tom, I’ve told you long ago, Elara Don is not suitable for you. And now she messed up and ended up in the station. Isn’t it time to cut ties with her?"
Vinny chimed in.
Damon was in a bad mood, his eyes sharp and cold.
"Sis, it’s a trap. Elly was framed."
Vinny was irritated by Damon’s gaze, "Tom, why are you looking at me like that? As if I sent her to jail! You say she was framed, but she’s not some big shot. Why would anyone bother to frame her?"
"Because she’s investigating her birth mother’s death, and someone doesn’t want her to continue, so they set her up."
Damon replied coldly.
Vinny moved her lips, surprise flickering in her eyes.
Elder Hawthorne was equally surprised.
"Tom, quickly tell us what exactly is going on?"
"Here’s what happened..."
Damon briefly explained the situation to them.
Elder Hawthorne, having lived for most of his life, sensed the plot.
"Tom, the person behind this has deep intentions. It’s a two-birds-with-one-stone strategy."
Isn’t it indeed?
Damon agreed, frustratedly unbuttoning his shirt collar.
The evidence had to be checked step by step, and he didn’t know when the truth would come out.
His heart ached for Elara having to stay in detention.
What to do?
"Tom, this matter may not be simple, right now there’s no way to bail Elly out?"
Elder Hawthorne asked.
Damon pressed his thin lips together, not saying a word.
At this moment, his phone rang.
Damon took it out and glanced at it, seeing it was Evelyn Miles calling, and his gaze shifted slightly.
He remembered Evelyn saying she’d ask Gabriel Miles if he could help.
Now she’s calling—could it be good news, or bad news?
Damon’s mind was racing, as he quickly answered the phone.
"Samantha."
"Tom, I just asked my uncle. He wants you to meet him tomorrow morning at 10 at the Elegant Tea Room in South City."
Hearing this, Damon was visibly invigorated.
Although the words weren’t explicit, it seemed like Gabriel might be agreeing to help.
Because if he didn’t, he would have just refused outright.
"Alright, I’ll be there tomorrow. Thank you, Samantha."
"You’re welcome. I’ll be happy if I can help Elly."
Samantha said sweetly.
Damon hung up the phone, his mood slightly eased.
Next to him, Vinny overheard and asked, "Was that a call from Samantha?"
"Yes, she asked Gabriel for me, and Gabriel asked me to meet him tomorrow."
Damon didn’t hide this.
"So Gabriel plans to help Elly?"
Elder Hawthorne asked.
"Probably."
Damon nodded.
Vinny’s eyes flashed, "Tom, there are rumors online saying you spent the whole day with Samantha. Think carefully, isn’t she the ideal partner you should choose?"
The Miles family’s status is so high!
This foolish son just doesn’t get it!
Vinny continued, "The Miles family is a perfect match for us, not to mention, if you marry Samantha, you’ll have the strong backing of your in-laws, who can help when you need it. Tom, take my advice, once this situation is resolved, you should cut ties with Elara!"
Hearing this, Damon’s face darkened.
"Sis, can you stop suggesting I break up with Elly? I can’t marry someone I don’t love for anyone’s benefit. I’m exhausted, I’m heading back."
After saying that, Damon strode away.
Vinny’s face changed colors out of anger.
"Who am I doing this for? Tom, why won’t you listen?"
Elder Hawthorne persuaded from the side, "Alright, Vinny, Tom has his own ideas. You shouldn’t interfere."
Vinny was so angry that her eyes reddened, "Dad, see what kind of attitude he has towards me? For Elara Don, he’s giving me attitude all the time! I’m his mom, after all!"
She’s his mother, but she can’t keep intervening in her son’s affairs.
Elder Hawthorne sighed inwardly, persuading her upstairs.
Outside.
Damon sat in the car, rubbing his throbbing forehead, feeling troubled.
In the driver’s seat, Rhun Quinn said, "Mr. Hawke, don’t worry. I’ve already asked Chase to assist. We’ll definitely find the evidence soon enough."
Damon responded coolly and, thinking of something, picked up his phone to scroll through it.
Earlier, upon hearing news of Elara’s accident, he’d ignored everything else. Now he realized his and Samantha’s news was already everywhere.
"Rhun, get the PR department to remove the news about Samantha and me. I don’t want to see any trace of it by tomorrow."
"Yes."
Rhun quickly complied, calling his subordinates.
Once he was done, Damon asked to be taken back to his villa.
The car slowly started, Damon closed his eyes, continuously pondering, trying to clear his thoughts.
Jack Clarke died, the mastermind planted evidence, putting the blame on Elara Don.
The person behind this has a very intricate mind.
Who could it be?
The chief said today’s operations were confidential, impossible to be leaked unless an insider disclosed the information.
Something flashed in his mind, causing him to suddenly open his eyes.
Jack Clarke and Elara Don’s mother, their records show their only common point was the Miles Corporation.
Miles Corporation, the Miles family’s company!
Gabriel Miles, although he’s retired, his power is still significant. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
If he wanted to set up such a scheme, would it be easy?
He’d first learned from the police department about the operation, then arranged everything, just waiting for Jack Clarke and Elara Don to fall into the trap!
Could it be this way?
