Daddy, You Got The Wrong Mommy-Chapter 239: Could There Be a Connection?
Upon hearing this, Damon Hawke’s eyes flashed sharply, "Makes sense. Rhun Quinn, investigate this woman immediately, and also check Jack Clarke’s call records."
Today’s incident must have been orchestrated by someone behind Jack Clarke.
Only by finding out who Jack Clarke was talking to can we trace the clues and uncover the truth behind this series of events.
"Don’t forget about Jack Clarke’s death, either. Just finding that woman isn’t enough; right now, Elly is still suspected of murdering Jack Clarke."
Leia Quinn sat in the back seat, looking worried.
"Cindy, the police have no direct evidence proving the death of Jack Clarke is directly linked to Elly; she’s only a suspect, which can be cleared later."
Craig Landers held Leia Quinn’s hand, "The priority is to find the person who framed her; only by finding the framer can Elly be bailed out."
Hearing this, Leia Quinn nodded, somewhat understanding.
Her gaze fell on Damon Hawke in the passenger seat, and she furrowed her brows again.
"Mr. Hawke, you should explain. Weren’t you supposed to be on a business trip? How come you’re with Samantha?"
Upon hearing this, Damon Hawke explained briefly, "There was trouble at my company, and she helped out a lot."
"She helped you, so you spent the whole day with her? Even turned off your phone? Mr. Hawke, why would you turn it off unless you’ve got something to hide?"
Leia Quinn retorted, somewhat irritated.
Damon Hawke frowned slightly, his face darkening, "That’s not the case."
"Not the case? Mr. Hawke, are you truly oblivious, or pretending? Can’t you see Samantha still has feelings for you? Maybe she’s helping you just to use it against you and ask for something in return!"
Leia Quinn mocked unkindly.
"Alright, Cindy, say less. Damon’s not a greedy person who’d choose power over love."
Craig Landers gently pulled Leia Quinn, shaking his head at her.
"Humph, who knows! Men are all jerks."
Leia Quinn shook off Craig Landers’ hand and turned her face to the window.
Craig Landers looked innocent, knowing Leia Quinn was upset because of Elara Don, embraced her gently, whispering comfort.
Damon Hawke’s aura darkened, but since Leia Quinn was Elara Don’s best friend, he said nothing.
Thinking back now, the events were indeed too coincidental.
Why did a Hawke Corporation subsidiary suddenly have trouble and just happen to encounter the Miles family?
The Miles family helped him, and Samantha proposed a condition to spend the day with him.
Meanwhile, Elara Don had an incident.
Is there some connection between the two?
Damon Hawke closed his eyes, letting his mind clear for a moment.
He needed to calm down and sort out his thoughts.
The Miles family.
Samantha returned home, feeling elated.
"Mom, where’s Dad?"
Samantha took off her coat, glanced around, and asked.
"He went out to meet friends, hasn’t returned yet."
Mrs. Grant sat on the sofa, smiling.
Samantha sat beside her, snuggling up against her arm.
"Mom, I just came back with Tom, and I followed him to the police station. Tell me, was Elara Don being detained a setup by you and Uncle?"
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Grant patted her hand, "Yes, she brought it upon herself. Who told her to obstruct your happiness?"
"But Mom, I heard she went to see someone, the one who caused the accident that killed her mother over a decade ago, and that person suddenly died as well. This incident..."
Samantha quizzically asked, having heard a brief story from Craig Landers and Damon Hawke.
Mrs. Grant’s eyes flickered slightly, then she replied, "Samantha, you don’t need to worry about this. Just focus on maintaining your pure and gentle image."
Not wanting her daughter to know too much.
All she needed was for her daughter to remain happy.
Samantha looked at Mrs. Grant skeptically, but seeing her say so, she didn’t ask further.
Because she had more important things to do.
"Alright, I won’t bother with those matters. But Mom, I heard Elara Don can’t be bailed out. Should we have Uncle pull some strings?"
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Grant frowned.
"Samantha, are you crazy? We’ve finally succeeded in getting Elara Don detained. Why find a way to bail her out?"
"Mom, listen to me."
Samantha quickly said, "I’m thinking, with Elara Don detained, Tom won’t stand idly by; he’ll eventually find a way to bail her out. Instead, why not use this opportunity to persuade him to break up with Elara Don and be with me?"
This was the plan she came up with at the police station entrance.
Damon Hawke seems to have deep feelings for Elara Don; without a little manipulation, it might be hard to get him to marry her.
Better to use this chance to force him into it!
Samantha’s words left Mrs. Grant in thoughtful contemplation.
After a while, she smiled and nodded, "That’s my daughter, clever."
"Thanks for the compliment, Mom. Then hurry and call Uncle."
Samantha giggled, urging.
"Alright, I’ll call immediately."
Mrs. Grant took out her phone and called Gabriel Miles.
On the other end, Gabriel Miles listened to Mrs. Grant’s words, then paused before speaking.
"Lydia, are you sure Samantha wants to do this? Damon Hawke is indeed a remarkable man, but I don’t see him and Samantha as well-matched. There are many elite sons like him, with Samantha’s qualities, must she cling to this one?"
Upon hearing this, Samantha quickly took the phone before Mrs. Grant could respond.
"Uncle, I like Tom, and this lifetime I only want to marry him; please help me."
She’s met many men, and apart from that one, only Damon Hawke matches her well and satisfies her most.
She only wants him!
"Since you feel this way, alright, Uncle will help you."
Gabriel Miles agreed after hearing Samantha’s words.
"Thank you, Uncle; you’re the best."
Samantha sweetly praised him.
"You’re the Miles family’s cherished daughter, our treasure; of course, I’ll treat you well."
Gabriel Miles replied with a smile.
Mrs. Grant glanced at Samantha, her eyes twinkling.
Her daughter truly was their treasured jewel.
...
Hawke Family Manor.
"Dad, Mom, do you still agree to let Tom marry Elara Don? That woman actually engaged in illegal activities! How can we welcome such a woman into the Hawke Family?"
Vinny Hawke spoke to the elder members of the Hawke Family.
"Vinny, the matter isn’t clear yet, don’t rush to conclusions. Let’s wait until Tom comes back."
Elder Hawthorne frowned, looking somewhat grave.
"That’s right! Vinny, Elly doesn’t seem like someone who’d do such things; there must be more to this than meets the eye."
Madam Hawke added.
"Dad, Mom, what’s wrong with you? Brainwashed by Elara Don? You never truly know someone’s heart; someone like Elara Don, who grew up at the bottom, what wouldn’t she do for personal gain?"
Vinny Hawke unabashedly attacked Elara Don’s character.
