Chapter 224: Chapter 224: Diligently Pleasing Him

Elara Don spent some time with her two sons after dinner, and then bid farewell to the Hawke Family.

The elderly couple from the Hawke Family looked reluctant to part.

"Charlie, Bea, Grandpa and Grandma will come to see you off to school in the morning."

Elder Hawthorne said.

The two young ones’ eyes sparkled with excitement, but they still looked at Elara for her opinion. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Elara felt a bit guilty, "Elder Hawthorne, Madam Hawke, thank you for your effort."

Even though she felt guilty, she selfishly wanted to take the two kids back home with her.

"It’s no bother. We are getting old and rarely have such opportunities to get out and about. See how the old man seems more spirited because he has something to do."

Madam Hawke said with a smile.

"Isn’t that right? Life lies in movement."

Elder Hawthorne chimed in.

The two elders were really not pretentious at all.

Elara’s fondness for them increased a bit more.

"Mom and Dad, we’ll be on our way then."

Damon Hawke spoke, and the Hawke elders nodded, waving goodbye to the two young ones.

Elara exchanged farewells with the remaining few people and left with the two young ones.

On the way back, seeing the two youngsters so full of spirit, Elara sighed.

She thought that after some time, she would let them stay at the Hawke Family’s old mansion.

Back at the apartment, one of the young ones was giving Elara a back massage while the other handed her a glass of water.

They were being so attentive.

Elara chuckled and pulled them close to ask, "Tell me, have you two done something wrong?"

The two exchanged a glance, and Bea smiled ingratiatingly, "We haven’t done anything wrong, we just don’t want Mommy to be unhappy."

"Yeah, we know Mommy doesn’t really want to go to Grandpa and Grandma’s house. We can’t just be happy ourselves; we have to consider how Mommy feels."

Dominic Hawke added.

Elara: "..."

These two kids are truly heartwarming!

Elara’s heart melted.

"Charlie, Bea, Mommy isn’t unhappy. As long as you’re happy, Mommy is happy."

People say daughters are like little cotton-padded jackets, but she felt her two sons were even more heartwarming.

Elara gave each of them a peck on the cheek, then remembered something and pulled out three red envelopes from her bag.

She wanted to see what gift the Hawke elders had given to their little family of three.

Opening the three red envelopes, she found that two contained a key and a document each.

They were keys to bank safety deposit boxes.

The Hawke elders had given each young one a set of properties and a shop.

Worth over a hundred million.

And in her envelope was a check for twenty million.

So, if she accepted it, she’d become a multimillionaire in her own right!

Elara marveled at the generosity of the Hawke elders and put the items away.

These, including her own envelope, were for her sons; she was just safekeeping them.

Damon Hawke sat beside her and also saw these things.

He picked up the check and said disdainfully, "How come Mom and Dad only gave twenty million? So stingy."

Elara: "..."

Twenty million and still stingy?

Truly, the rich have a different way of talking.

Before she could say anything, Damon nudged her waist slightly and said, "Elly, marry me, and everything I own will be yours. You’ll become an admired multimillionaire."

Elara: "..."

So what he just said about the Hawke elders being stingy was just a lead-up.

Was this a roundabout proposal?

Elara felt a bit awkward, pulling away his hand, "I have hands and feet, and I earn enough money to spend. What would I do with so much money? I’m not interested."

"But I want you to live a better life."

Seeing Elara get up, Damon got up too.

Elara didn’t want to pay him any attention, so she turned to the two young ones, "Charlie, Bea, let’s go. I’ll give you a bath."

The two exchanged a look, Bea’s big eyes turned, "Mommy, you sit, let Daddy do these chores."

"Yeah, let Daddy give us a bath."

Dominic Hawke nodding in agreement.

These little sycophants.

Damon raised an eyebrow, half-smiling, "How old are you two? Can’t bathe yourselves yet?"

"Dad, it’s not that we can’t bathe ourselves. You should see this as an honor."

"Oh, so I should be thankful for this?"

"You don’t want to?"

"Can I refuse?"

"..."

Watching the father and two sons head off to the bathroom, Elara’s lips curled up, amused and warm at heart.

Her two sons were truly the best gift heaven had given her.

For their sake, should she perhaps agree to Damon’s proposal and marry him?

Elara wetted her lips, recalling another thing on her mind, her expression turned more serious.

What was more important to her now was finding out the cause of her mother’s death.

Elara thought for a bit, went to the bedroom, took out a change of clothes for Damon to wear, and brewed him a cup of tea.

When Damon had finished bathing the little ones and tucked them into the children’s room, he came out to find Elara smiling brightly at him.

His eyebrows arched immediately.

Why was she suddenly smiling so sweetly at him?

Was it because he had bathed the little ones for her?

Probably not!

"Are you thirsty? I made you some tea. Drink a cup before you go shower."

Elara handed the teacup to Damon, her gaze sparkling.

Damon narrowed his eyes, quipping, "Elly, did I offend you? Did you put something in the tea?"

Elara: "..."

This man, does he have to let his imagination run so wild?

Elara glared at him without speaking, then gulped down the tea from the cup.

"Damon, do you have a persecution complex?"

Damon chuckled lightly, looking at Elara’s feigned angry face, and reached out to embrace her.

"Don’t be mad, I already said, even if you fed me poison, I’d swallow it without hesitation."

His gentle words made Elara’s heart tremble.

She pushed him gently, "Go shower, you can have the tea afterward."

"How about you join me? We can save some water!"

Elara: "..."

This man, how does he come up with such nonsense!

"Stop thinking nonsense, go take your shower!"

Elara pulled his hand away and handed him the clothes she had prepared.

"Yes, ma’am."

Damon laughed lightly, kissed Elara’s forehead, took the clothes, and turned away in thought.

He was curious what Elara’s intention was in being so attentive.

After a quick shower, he found Elara on the couch with a hairdryer, waiting for him.

This kind of treatment was really something.

Damon raised his brows and sat on the couch, waiting to be attended to by her.

"Are you done? Let me dry your hair."

Elara turned on the hairdryer, drying Damon’s hair.

Once she was mostly done, and had just put the hairdryer away, a tightness around her waist brought her into his embrace.

His low, magnetic voice came to her ear.

"Tell me, what bad thing did you do that you’re trying to butter me up?"

Elara: "..."

This question seemed familiar.

Wasn’t this the question she asked her own two young ones earlier?
