Daddy, You Got The Wrong Mommy-Chapter 225: If You Won’t Say, Then Don’t Say It
"No, you’re the father of the children. If I show you a sour face every day, the children won’t be happy."
Elara Don laughed dryly, trying to break free from Damon Hawke’s embrace.
Damon held her tightly and whispered in her ear, "Is that so? Elly, you should know, if you marry me, the children will be even happier."
Once again, he wanted her to marry him. This man, could he stop pressuring her at every step?
Elara’s eyes flickered slightly, leaving her speechless for a moment.
Seeing her silence, Damon feared she was upset and chose not to continue the topic.
He turned her head towards him, a smirk playing at his lips, "Tell me, what’s going on?"
She would marry him eventually.
But for now, what he wanted to know most was why she was being so attentive towards him.
The man’s dark eyes were deep, carrying an oppressive insight that could peer into one’s soul.
Elara pressed her lips together and said, "Can you lift the ban on Victoria Don?"
To ask him to lift Victoria’s ban?
Damon’s gaze darkened as he looked at Elara and asked, "Why? Elly, she pretended to be Charlie’s biological mother and has repeatedly hurt you before. Have you forgotten all that?"
"I haven’t forgotten, it’s just..."
Elara hesitated to continue.
"Just what?"
Damon gripped Elara’s shoulders, "Elly, do you have a reason you can’t tell? It’s okay, tell me, and we’ll solve it together."
The man’s deep eyes carried a hint of determination, evoking a sense of trust and reliance.
Elara moved her lips, "Tom, Victoria told me that my mom’s car accident back then wasn’t an accident. If you’re willing to lift her ban, she’ll have Troy Don tell me the truth."
So that’s what it was!
Damon’s expression tightened slightly.
He knew something of Elara’s background.
Father unknown, mother died in a car accident.
Could it be that the accident back then was suspicious?
Was what Victoria said true or false?
Could it be she’s saying this purposely to achieve her goals?
"Tom, I know the things Victoria did were unforgivable. Banning her was lenient. But my mom died because of me, and I must find out the truth about her death back then. So, could you let Victoria go for now?"
Seeing Damon silent, Elara thought he was unwilling and hurriedly clutched his clothes, pleading.
Coming back to his senses, Damon saw the redness in Elara’s eyes and felt a wave of compassion.
He pulled her into his arms and said, "Elly, don’t worry. Tell me everything in detail; I will definitely help you."
Letting Victoria go was a small matter; he needed first to understand the whole story.
"Okay, here’s how it is..."
Elara recounted her background and her conversations with Victoria and Troy Don to Damon.
Damon listened intently, seemingly in thought.
It seemed that Troy Don knew best about what happened over a decade ago.
So, to seek the truth, directly asking Troy would suffice.
When Elara finished, Damon said softly, "I got it, Elly. Contact Troy Don right now."
Elara was taken aback, "But Troy said if you don’t lift Victoria’s ban, he won’t talk."
"Don’t worry. He will talk. Just call him and I’ll follow up."
Damon smiled coldly, his dark eyes filled with ice.
Elara pursed her lips and obediently dialed Troy’s number.
Damon signaled her to put it on speaker.
The phone rang twice before it connected.
On the other end, Troy’s voice came through, "Elly, is it done? Has Vivi’s ban been lifted?"
Elara looked at Damon, unsure of how to reply.
Damon gave her a reassuring look and then spoke deeply.
"Troy Don, it’s me."
"Damon!"
Troy’s voice carried a trace of agitation and urgency.
"Mr. Hawke, I beg you, show some mercy. For the sake of me raising Elly, don’t annihilate our family completely."
The Thorne Group had gone bankrupt under Damon’s intervention.
He wanted to meet Damon, but couldn’t reach him or contact him.
So, he had to follow Victoria’s instructions and let Elara step in.
He regretted immensely now; he should never have broken ties with Elara back then!
"Troy Don, if you don’t want to die miserably, then tell Elly what she wants to know. Otherwise, you should be aware of my methods!"
Damon ignored Troy’s pitiful pleas, threatening coldly.
Troy choked and stammered, "Mr. Hawke, I don’t know what you’re talking about."
"Mr. Don, don’t play dumb. I want to know the truth about my mom’s car accident back then!"
Elara sat beside Damon, speaking hurriedly.
Upon hearing Elara’s voice, Troy started to plead for sympathy again.
"Oh Elly, help your dad. I’ve really reached a dead end. Please speak to Mr. Hawke, let our family, let the Thorne Group rise again."
He was trying to negotiate terms with her.
Elara pressed her lips together tightly, looking at Damon.
Damon patted her hand, comforting her with a smile.
Then, he let out a cold, bloodthirsty smile.
"Troy Don, still trying to negotiate with me at this point? Fine, if you refuse to talk, don’t talk. I’ll help Elly uncover the truth about the past. But from tomorrow onwards, there will be no Don Family in Sea City!"
The man’s voice was deep, filled with a chilling ferocity.
On the other end of the line, Troy couldn’t help but shiver before hastily saying, "No, no, Mr. Hawke, I was wrong. I’ll talk, I’ll talk, isn’t that enough?"
He knew Damon had the power to make the Don Family vanish from Sea City!
This was the place he’d lived his whole life; he couldn’t, in old age, die a foreigner!
"Hurry up and speak!"
Damon’s voice carried an icy impatience.
Troy gulped and slowly said, "Lina Quinn, Elly’s mother, got into a car accident while buying a cake for her years ago. Initially, I also thought it was an accident, as the drunk driver was caught, a compensation was paid, and the case was soon closed and sentenced."
"But later one day, I received a call from a stranger, who told me that Claire’s death wasn’t an accident, it was deliberate. I was shocked, but when I asked who it was, the caller hung up. When I called back, it was just a public phone."
"Back then, I thought of pursuing it. But the case was closed. How could I have the police reinvestigate on the basis of an anonymous call? And so, the matter was left unresolved."
His words made Elara clench her fists, her chest heaving.
So someone had warned Troy that her mother’s death wasn’t an accident.
But he simply didn’t care!
Perhaps, he even wished her mother had died then!
If her mother had lived, how could he have legitimized Victoria’s mother!
After all, she wasn’t even his biological daughter, was she?
